Fire Keepers'
Dwelling

Description
A small dimensional rift that exists between Drangleic and the outside world, this seemingly
peaceful limbo serves as a gateway between the two realms. It lies deep within a shadowy cavern
and traverses an ancient forest rising from subterranean lake. Three former Firekeepers reside
here with their caretaker, offering guidance to the Undead who pass through on their quest to
break the curse. The forest serves as a proving ground for visitors and hides a great many secrets
for those willing to seek them out, but beware - while the main road is relatively safe, straying
from the beaten path can lead to a terrifying end before your journey has even begun 3

General Notes

There is a raven's nest containing Sparkling Sisters Dyna and Tillo, similar to Dark
Souls' Snuggly the Crow and Demon's Souls' Sparkly the Crow. You can leave items here
and other random items will appear. The quality/rarity is determined by what item you
drop. The four tiers of items the crows accept are, in respective order from least to
best,Prism Stone, Small Smooth & Silky Stone, Smooth & Silky Stone, and Petrified
Something.

There is a coffin behind the two Ogres on the small beach. Using it will change the sex of
the player. Using it again will revert the effect.

It is possible to obtain extra amounts of Human Effigy by killing Strowen or Housekeeper

Milibeth. Note that turning hostile against any of the NPCs in the hut will
deemHousekeeper Milibeth hostile and the rest uncooperative. The player can still kill the
NPCs and speak to their spirits by sacrificing souls to their tombstones outside the front of
the hut. This is necessary should the player wish to use a Soul Vessel to reallocate their
levels with Strowen. Strowen costs 15,000 souls and the rest are 1,000 souls.

surrounded by four Falconers. Follow distant light.
2. Six Kobolds are running around in next area. They won't attacked until provoked.
During NG+ you will be ambushed by 2 Black Phantom Goblins. If you stick to
the right wall you will find body with Rusted Coin (x5 on NG+).
3. Just before the bride you can turn left. You will find there a body with Gold Pine
Resin guarded by Ogre. Ogre will drop Stone Ring. During New Game it is
advised to come back here later.
4. After crossing the bride you can turn left and under the waterfall to find a body
with Small Smooth & Silky Stone (Smooth & Silky Stone on NG+).
5. Enter the house to initiate character creation. There is wooden chest upstairs
with Human Effigy.
6. Exit house through other door and you will find your first bonfire. There is a body
with soul and torch behind a wagon.
7. Now you can go straight ahead and you will reach Majula or you can enter areas
behind fog doors which serve as tutorial.

a Dagger which can be useful if you started as deprived and a lifegem. Upon
exiting this area you will find a nest with Dyna and Tillo and a ladder which can be
kicked to gain easy access to them. Drop down on a ledge below to find some
souls on a body.
9. In a second are you will find total of 4 travelers. After first two game teaches you
how to jump and you can pick up some amber herbs. Jump back and climb a
ladder. Drop down, there are 2 travelers here and cracked red eye orb behind the
door. Fog gate leads back to main path.
10. In third and last area there are 4 travelers 2 ogres (and one Black Phantom traveler
with a crossbow on NG+). Enter fog gate, kick a tree, dispatch the archer. Drop
down the hole, there is one traveler with a sword and one archer (and Black
Phantom on NG+). Exit cave and turn left, there is one more traveler here and a
tree to kick behind him. Now that you have a shortcut to this area you can turn
back and fight two Ogres on the beach. If you kill them you can return to
Firekeeper's house and Housekeeper will give you the Handmaid's Ladle.
11. Follow the main path and you will enter Majula.

General Notes

NPCs you meet and rescue along your quest will gather at the shrine over time and allow
you to purchase Sorceries, Pyromancies, and other useful items.

This is the only location at which you can reinforce your Estus Flasks with Sublime Bone
Dust.

On the monument by the sea (where Saulden, the Crestfallen Warrior sits), the plaque
nearest the ramp at the base of the pillar will disclose the number of "Global Deaths"
experienced by all players of Dark Souls II at the moment you read it. If the game is in
offline mode the plaque will show the number of deaths of your current character.

The flames on the mansion map turn to blue if you use a total of 8 Bonfire Ascetic (not
counting playthrough number) on corresponding bonfire of each flame.

Loot Guide
Majula Pit Loot Guide

To get a Estus Flask Shard, go to the basement of the mansion (the largest house
in Majula). The mansion itself can be opened using the House Key which is received
fromCale the Cartographer in the Forest of Fallen Giants. The body with the shard is
guarded by a skeleton (one more will be added per new game+ level).

Another Estus Flask Shard lies inside a small well next to the mansion - not the large hole
closer to the center of town. Slashing the rope will drop a weight, carrying up a corpse
with the shard.

Immediately after having entered Majula from Things Betwixt, follow the path until you
come across a large clearning, next to one of the trees is a Divine Blessing.

Having found the Divine Blessing, head left onto a path, the start arched over with trees.
Follow the path until you come across Benhart of Jugo, next to him Lifegem (x3)
andHomeward Bone (x3).

On the right side of Sweet Shalquoir's house is a Lifegem under a ragged tent that can be
accessed by rolling through the obstructing barrels and crates.

Off to the right on the cliff edge of Blacksmith Lenigrast's workshop is a corpse with Soul of
a Nameless Soldier and Lifegem (x3).

Inside of Blacksmith Lenigrast's workshop is chest with a Short Bow.

If you wish, you can kill Benhart of Jugo to get a Bluemoon Greatsword.

Pass Benhart of Jugo, inside the small building, to the left behind a wooden plank door
is Lloyd's Talisman (x3). Beware of the hollow behind the plank door.

Pass through the archway to Heide's Tower of Flame, and in the sewer there, you will find
a chest containing Crimson Parma. After that pull the handle down on the left path, then
pass through the sewer gate. Run to the end and pick up the Broken Thief Sword and
a Soul of a Lost Undead.

Along the cliff by the bonfire is a ledge that can be dropped down to. A corpse carrying
a Morning Star and Clerics's Sacred Chime will be behind you. Continuing along the path
leads to another corpse where the Binoculars can be found.

In Maughlin the Armorer's home you'll find a ladder on the far wall past him tight to the
left wall. Climb up into a small room where there is a chest containing a Titanite Shard,
useful for early upgrades. At NG++ it will contain the Moon Butterfly Shield

Walkthrough
Majula Map (Japanese)
If you just started the game, your first trip should go to the Forest of Fallen Giants. Although other
areas are also early accessible from the Majula, they contain dangerous foes and are best visited
later.

Path to Forest of Fallen Giants

From bonfire go right while sticking to the edge of a cliff. Enter the tunnel, there will be metal
chest in an alcove to your right. Follow the tunnel until you encounter a gate. Pull the lever and
enter Forest of Fallen Giants.

Path to Heide's Tower of Flame

Between Shalquoir's house and path to Company of Champions there is en entrance. For now
ignore mechanism in rotunda room. Follow stairs down. There is a metal chest to the left at the
bottom of the stairs. You will see a big gate, open it with a pulley and enter Heide's Tower of
Flame.

Path to Huntsman's Copse

You can only enter this area if you defeated Dragonrider and talked to Licia of Lindeldt. If you did
so, she moved to rotunda room. Talk to her there and she will offer to open path toHuntsman's
Copse for 2,000 Souls.

Path to Grave of Saints and The Gutter

If you already finished Earthen Peak area and killed it's boss Laddersmith Gilligan will be sitting
next to The Pit. You can pay him to set up ladders that will lead you down to these areas. As an
alternative you can buy Silvercat Ring from Shalquoir which will reduce damage taken from falling
and unable you to visit these ares before Earthen Peak. Drop down by one ledge at a time and
heal if you taken a lot of damage. First opening will lead to Grave of Saints. And next one to the
area beneath Grave of Saints that leads to The Gutter.

Path to Shaded Woods

Backtrack as you would go to Things Betwixt but go right. You will enter area that leads to Shaded
Woods. Benhart of Jugo is sitting befor ruins. He won't move forward just as you, until you
unpetrify Rosabeth of Melfia. She was turned to stone and is blocking lever. Use Fragrant Branch of
Yore to unpetrify her and unlock entrance to Shaded Woods.

Trivia

There is a plaque on the back of the monument where Saulden, the Crestfallen
Warrior sits. If you examine it, a screen will pop up that says "the text is illegible".

Majula is often referred to as a garbage dump; the exiles of Drangleic were often sent to
this area, and that's why all the shacks and houses are so run down.

There are shattered remains of the Lordvessel from Dark Souls in the basement of the
Mansion.

Item Guide Part I Part II Part III (Soldier's Rest) How to get the Twinkling Titanite before getting
the King's Ring

Walkthrough
Forest of Fallen Giants Map (Japanese)

First visit
1. From Majula, you enter this area along the coast by The Far Fire bonfire. Going
through a tunnel a bit, you'll come across a switch you will need to pull in order to
open the large gate. Further on in the cave, cross a wooden bridge and take a left
down to a chest containing a Human Effigy. Across the way, you can see another
item, aHomeward Bone and a Soul of a Lost Undead. If you want to risk the jump
(a fall will kill you) go ahead, but you can reach it hassle free just outside. Go back
to the bridge and follow the right hand path down out of the cave and in to the
forest proper. On your right you can follow the river upstream to get the items
mentioned earlier.
2. Following the river, you will come across 2 Hollow Infantrymen before you reach
this areas first bonfire right across the river, The Crestfallen's Retreat.
3. After taking out those Hollows, you'll find yourself at a fallen tree over the river,
there will be two more: one barehanded and on with knife. Cross here and take out
shielded Hollow Infantryman to your right and then get that pesky Hollow Infantry
archer to your left. Looking down by the river bank by the archer, you'll find a
Hollow playing dead. If you keep going up following the river, you will reach a
corpse with Soul of a Lost Undead). Go back, where the archer was, and you'll find

a ladder near his position. Climb it.

4. At the top, you enter an open courtyard with a large tree as its centerpiece There is
a Heide Knight resting under the tree. He is not hostile until you attack him. There
are three Hollow Infantrymen wandering about and an archer just out of reach.
Dispatch these hollows and head through the opening to your right. Head up the
ladder here and take out 2 infantrymen on the stairs. Find your way to the archer
along the ledge and the treasure just beyond. There are two items up here. One past
the archer (Shortsword and Soul of a Lost Undead) and another just past the top of
the stairs(Soul of a Nameless Soldier). Head back down the ladder and look down
and behind you. The items (10x Throwing Knife and Soul of a Nameless Soldier)
on that bluff can be reached with a good jump. Make your way back up to
courtyard and just by the fog gate is another hollow playing dead. Kill it and pass
through.
5. Follow the tunnel down until you see a sharp bend to the left. Ahead of you there
will be a hole in the wall. At this point you can pass through the hole into the room
beyond or follow the corridor round to the left to enter the same room via the door.
If you pass through the hole, you'll land pretty much on top of two Hollow
Infantry, who may prove tough in the confined space. Taking the corridor to the
left, however, holds its own danger as there's a Hollow axeman waiting to chop
you in the face as you round the corner. Whichever path you choose, you'll need to
fight all three of these hollows. Once they're defeated, break the bookcase behind
the door to find 20 wooden bolts.
6. Having cleared the room, continue up the corridor, taking care of the Hollow
Royal Soldier on your way. You'll see a large hole in the wall to your left. Don't
bother trying to climb out through it - we'll come back here later. Instead, continue
up the stairs. There's an archer at the top just waiting to put an arrow in your eye.
At the top of the stairs, you may become quickly overwhelmed, as you'll be
greeted by the archer we just mentioned, a Hollow Infantryman and a firebombhurling Hollow Royal Soldier perched on a branch above the stairs. In front of the
top of the staircase you'll see a ladder, but don't climb it just yet - first turn around
and head over to the large slabs of stone behind the branch where the firebomb
hollow was. Be careful as you approach - there's a hollow waiting for you, hidden
by one of the large chunks of stone. Once he's dispatched, grab the Buckler from
the corpse and then head up the ladder.
7. At the top of the ladder, you'll see a large set of doors ahead and to your right.
Don't pass through them just yet, though. First go past the doors and turn right into
the little alley. Here's a Hollow Royal Soldier playing dead. Dispatch him quickly
and then grab the 5 Witching Urns on the corpse to your left. Then head back to
the doors, open them and enjoy warmth of a second bonfire!
8. Light the bonfire then go upstairs, break the door (hit it few times) and open the
chests. There is a Hollow Royal Soldier playing dead will rise as you proceed
through the door. In the next room grab Estus Flask Shard and Small White Sign
Soapstone. You can jump here and back to the bonfire (there is Divine Blessing on

a branch).
9. From here you should step back through the door (that leads you this bonfire) and
you will see a deck. Drop down and you will see two hollows, keep going and you
will see on your left a hole on the wall (same hole that you saw when you first
come right before the second bonfire). Don't bother and keep going till you see a
edge with a loot, jump and keep going and go jump wood by wood till the ground
and kill the six hollows walking around. You will see two caves, the first one it is
just a body, and second one it is on fire and having a lot of human statues, don't
worry with fire neither statues. Keep going deeper till you see the giant fire
salamander, just wait a few sec and learn his pattern attacks and run till the door on
your left, inside you will find a Fire Longsword. Get back, and go to your left, till
you reach a pile of trash and you will find a ladder leading you close to the hole
mentioned above.
10. Use the hole and get back to the 2nd bonfire. From here you should go down the
ladder and go to your left, kill three hollows (one before the bridge, one patrolling
and ole after the bridge). Grab the treasures and and forget this doors by now, go to
the only way you can keep going. Kill another sleeping hollow and pass the mist.
A bunch of hollows will annoy you with arrows and two will come after you, just
get back and wait for these two. There's a lot to do here, but for practicality's sake
it's best to open the shortcut for the second bonfire and skip this area for now.
11. Head up to the top of the root, onto the wall, and look to your left. There are two
hollows behind some planks, and one above. Kill the two on the ground first. If
you head up the nearby ladder to take care of the bomb-dropping hollow, be
prepared: The Pursuer will drop down on you. At this stage in the game you're not
likely to survive this fight. Best to hold on until you're stronger. You could always
take care of the bomb-throwing hollow with arrows or spells, but don't do that yet
unless you have firebombs or pyromancy to spare. Notice all those black barrels
over there by the cracked wall, right at the end? If they get hit by fire, the wall
blasts open, and voila: You have a neat little shortcut back to the bonfire.
12. Once you break the wall it's a good idea to go back to previously skipped area.
Drop down into a house in more or less half way of that giant root and will see a
hollow here an a loot, then drop down again. On the ground there is an archer near
ladder, kill him and climb up. Keep cleaning the place on the roofs till you see a
place where you need to jump. before you jump you may want to drop down to a
building and find some titanite on a body near steel gate. If you did that go back up
and jump. Kill another archer and keep going till you see a cave, walk carefully
because a rock will roll over you, grab grab some herbs from a body and talk
to Cale the Cartographer until he gives you Mansion Key. Exit cave and climb the
ladder. There will be one last arhcer on a wall if you didn't shot him earlier. Now
go back to the place of the last mist fog. Back to the second bonfire you go.
13. Exit through the broken wall and go left. Kill two soldiers and drop down. On
NG+ there will be Knight Phantom on top of a gate that will come down to fight
you. Enter to your right and quickly pull back. There are some soldiers shooting
ballistas at you. If you are lucky they will kill one of their own. Kill rest of them

and grab all the loot. Drop a floor down. Wooden chest is trapped but has some
titanite in it. If you have Pharros Lockstone you can access two chests - one with
Chloranthy Ring and another with titanite slab. Knock on a door and a hollow will
open, kill him and his friends and get some more titanite and Ring of Life from a
chest. Go back up and exit room with ballistas.
14. Go forward, in front of you ther is Ironclad Soldier. You can ignore him until you
deal with Soldiers throwing firebombs at you. To the right you will see a Giant there is an item behind him. Climb up the ladder. You will find a crossbow here,
you can use it to kill those firebomb throwing soldiers. Enter their barracks and get
some more items from a body and metal chest. Drop down and deal with Ironclad.
Watch out as he can blow black barrels with his attacks. Now go talk to the guy
sitting near the gate.
15. Whatever you liked him or not enter the gate. Don't worry there is way out of here.
Just fight your way through. There are about six soldier in a building but they
won't attack you all at once. just before stairs there is an illusory wall on the right.
Sorcerer's staff is in metal chest behind it. After you fought your way through drop
down and talk again with Pate. He will give you White Sign Soapstone. Jolly
good!
16. Go back to were you fought Ironclad and go through the opening. There is a body
up the stairs to your right. To your left there are some hollow soldiers. There is one
body one the ground and another on the end of a giant sword guarded by soldier.
After you deal with this area enter the fog gate.
17. There is Crystal Lizard in a room to your right. You might wake up sleeping
soldier while you kill the lizard. There is a leather shield in a dead end downstairs.
Exit the room and go right. You should unlock a door here. This will lead you back
to a second bonfire. Ride down the elevator to fight The Last Giant.
18. Once you have the Soldier Key there are four locked doors nearby to open: One is
up the stairs in the same room as the bonfire, this door can also be smashed. The
second locked door is down the ladder and across the bridge, and leads to a
treasure chest containing a Restoration Ring, and a King Gate. The third locked
door is easy to miss: Once you head down the ladder, and you enter the room just
before you head up the giant root, look to your right. You'll see a torchlight that
can be lit using the torch, and the locked door. Inside you'll encounter a dark
corridor with a sleeping Hollow to your left, and several Ironclads. Head outside,
and you'll encounter two more Ironclads backed up by an arrow-shooting hollow.
This is a small labyrinthine area littered with useful stuff, but where there are also
several more turtles and hollows to worry about. You want to make your way
around and over to the area where the hollow archer was standing. If you go in the
opening closest to door you entered the area through, you'll find a Seed From A
Tree Of Giants. In the second-closest opening, there is a third bonfire: Soldier's
Rest. On NG+ Catarina Knight will drop down on you as you enter room with a
Giant's remains.
19. Last door is located in the area behind first Ironclad. There are two soldiers there

(and one black phantom on NG+). If you didn't already killed Pursuer here will be
a fog gate leading to his boss fight. After you kill the Pursuer go to the next room
and drop down to find a body with Drangleic equipment. (This is the body
of Captain Drummond) Go back up there and upstairs is eagle's nest. This is one
way travel to The Lost Bastille

After obtaining King's Ring and Ashen Mist Heart

1. Now that you have King's Ring you can open King's gate. You will find fourth
bonfire here. Here you can enter Memory of Jeigh and fight Giant Lord. Drop
down to loot twinkling titanite from a body.
2. Giant's remains behind area where you fought Pursuer will lead to Memory Of
Orro and the ones near Pate's trap will lead to Memory of Vammar.

Tower of Flame, after defeating the Dragonrider boss, head up the stairs to the right. At
the top of the stairs, you will find the bonfire.

Notes

Item Guide

To access the Old Dragonslayer boss, you only need to activate third lever in the area,
which will lower the drawbridge to Cathedral of Blue.

Activating the first and second lever before entering the Dragonrider boss fight will extend
the floor tiles to cover the water-filled holes in his room.

The first lever is behind the second stone sentinel from the Heide's Ruin bonfire.

The second lever is within the circular room with 3 Old Knights after the Heide's
Ruin bonfire.

The third lever is next to the drawbridge to Cathedral of Blue, you must kill the stone
sentinel next to it for it to appear.

Burning a Bonfire Ascetic at the first bonfire will respawn the Old Knight that drops
a Sublime Bone Dust, will replace the Lloyd's Talisman with a Skeptic's Spice, and the
chest that initially grants you Green Blossoms will give you 3 Green Blossoms in addition to
3 Human Effigys. It will also spawn a few Halberd wielding NPCs in the area, and a couple
more old knights throughout the area. The Divine Blessing remains the same. This also
respawns the DragonRider. Burning an ascetic at the first bonfire does not effect the
Cathedral of blue - as a result the bridge to the Old Dragonslayer boss fight will be lowered
if you previously lowered it, and neither the chest nor corpse will spawn new items, and
Dragonslayer will not be respawned by burning an ascetic at the Heide's Tower bonfire.

Burning an ascetic at the bonfire after the DragonRider will not effect Heide's Tower of
Flame.

Walkthrough
Heide's Tower Of Flame Map
This is a small area with two bosses. Orienting yourself as you emerge from the sewer tunnel,
the Old Dragonslayer is in the Cathedral of Blue to your left. You can avoid fighting him unless you
want to join the Blue Sentinels. The Dragonrider is in the circular structure straight ahead. You
must defeat him to progress to No-man's Wharf. It's worth heading toward the Cathedral first as
there is valuable loot just before the boss fight.
After exiting the sewers, head towards the first Sentinel. Before you get to him take the path to
the right down to the bonfire. You can run past the Sentinels easily but you will need to defeat the
two that guard switches. The Sentinels will pursue you so you may wish to eliminate them. Stay
close, circle and roll. Be wary of falling off the narrow path into the sea. The second Sentinel who
wields a great hammer will not re-spawn so taking him out will make subsequent run throughs
easier. There is loot on a corpse to the right of the stairs. The third Sentinel guards a switch that
raises an outer ring of floor in the Dragonrider's area which will make that fight much easier. Agro
him and lure him back down the stairs you have come up. He won't want to stray too far from the
switch and will turn his back on you and walk back to it, leaving himself open to an easy twohanded attack.
Follow the path into the large circular structure and head left to the Cathedral of Blue or right to
the Dragon rider. There are three Sentinels in here but you can just run past. Heading left you will
find loot down stairs to your left and two more sentinels before a set of stairs straight ahead.
Continue up the stairs to an open platform. The previous Sentinels will follow you so be quick. The
final sword-wielding Sentinel awaits. Circle and roll, trying to hit his back. If the last two Sentinels
arrive, backtrack across the narrow walkway for some breathing space and estus. Stay locked onto
the original Sentinel because as soon as he is dead, the switch will appear. Activate the switch and
a drawbridge to the Cathedral of Blue with appear. The drawbridge will now be permanent. At the
top of the bridge is a chest with the Ring of Binding. Enter the Cathedral of Blue through the fog
gate and fight the Old Dragonslayer.
Head back to take the path to Dragonrider or travel back to the first bonfire if you haven't
activated the switch behind the third Sentinel. In the large circular building witht the three
Sentinels, there is a switch which raises another ring of floor in the next boss fight. Leaving the
large circular building, follow the stairs down to the right. There is a chest to the right and a
Sentinel to the left before the fog gate. Run past him and enter, or fight him in order to summon
an NPC white phantom. A melee strategy will work well. Stay close to Dragonrider, circle and roll to
your left and hit him in the back. Manage your stamina carefully as quick rolling is the key here.
His swings are easily avoided. He will try to bash you with his shield and break your poise. Don't
back away as he will charge you. Be careful of falling in this confined space. When victorious head
through the door and up the stairs to the bonfire and to talk to Licia Of Lindeldt who sells miracles.
Carry on to No-man's Wharf.

Walkthrough
Cathedral Of Blue Map (Japanese)
This area is made up of only three places. The main hall of the Cathedral where the boss fight
takes place, an annex with a bonfire and a balcony.
As you enter through the fog gate you will see the Old Dragonslayer at the far end of the hall. He
will begin moving towards you slowly but will charge you after a few seconds. You will have time to
hit him twice with a ranged weapon but you will then have to roll to the side to avoid his charge
knocking you down. Sorceries work well in this fight. Try to stay at a medium distance, out of
range of his spear on which you will be fatally impaled if you you get too close. Backing too far
away will trigger his charge. The Old Dragonslayer's attacks are avoidable. He swings and thrusts
his spear and performs an overhead slam which is preceded by a slow jump in the air. After a
combination, he will stalk you slowly, giving you time to use your estus. Be patient, keep circling
and rolling away from his attacks. Don't try to hit him too many times when you do attack him so
that you leave some stamina for rolling.
When victorious, move through the door to the balcony. Speak to Blue Sentinel Targray. Before the
balcony is a passage to the right leading to the only bonfire in this area.

Item Walkthrough Part II
Cross the bridge from the bonfire after the Dragonrider fight in Heide's Tower of Flame, and head
down the spiral staircase. Before exiting the room, head around and underneath the staircase to
find a Monastery Charm. Continuing forward, you will fight a greatsword-wielding Old Knight, then
one with a sword and shield. Try not to kill the one with the Greatsword before getting too close to
the other. If you head along the path where the sword-and-shield Old Knight was standing, you will
find a few dead bodies holding Dark Troches and an Old Knight Halberd. Continue through the area
to the right.
After descending the stairs and exiting into the bigger room, you can either head right or left. Left
is a dead end, so head right and kill the Old Knight in the way. Go down the elevator to the flooded
area. Continue down the path, but be careful of the Old Knight on your left. Head up the staircase
behind him and head to the right for a treasure chest containing the Knight Set of armor.
Go back down the stairs to where you fought the Old Knight and continue along the hallway. Head
through the hole in the wall to reach a bonfire.

Bonfire: Unseen Path to Heide

The woman standing next to the bonfire is Lucatiel of Mirrah. Talk to her a few times to exhaust
her dialogue and get her to warm up to you, allowing you to summon her for future boss fights.
Continue out into the wharf, but as you do, be wary of the body on the ground to your left, as it is
an enemy playing dead. Ignore the enemy shooting arrows for now and head straight into the
room with the light and a few tables. Two hollows will attack, one from either side, so be careful.
Go up the stairs for a chest containing a Titanite Shard. Go out onto the balcony and kill the
enemy there, then grab the Soul of a Proud Knight. Head towards the enemy shooting arrows at
you. When you fight him, the portion of the bridge might collapse, but don't fret. You won't have to

backtrack or anything, but you might pull the aggro of a few enemies at once, rather than one at a
time.
Start heading across the bridge left of the archer, grabbing the Large Soul of a Lost Undead and
the Lifegem in the water to the left along the way. If he hasn't yet, an enemy dual wielding swords
will attack you. He is weak and can be stunlocked pretty easily, but he can dish out quite a bit of
damage if you get caught in a combo. Head into the shack on the left for Dark Pine Resin x3.
Ignore the stairs leading up for now. There is an enemy in the other shack, but nothing else. In
the building to the right of that, there is a Dark Stalkerenemy. These can be very dangerous due to
their far reaching attacks, so try to bait them into attacking, roll past, then combo from behind,
and repeat. Additionally, Dark Stalkers are afraid of light, so light a torch and chase them back,
then finish them off with a weapon. In the building containing the Dark Stalker, there are a measly
ten Iron Arrows.
Go up the staircase in between the shacks. There is a small doorway on the left. It doesn't lead to
anything (there is another hollow waiting there, kill the hollow and then break the shelf, it leads to
a hidden copse with Ring of Life Protection); it just provides an alternate path to the top. Be
careful of all the enemies at the top. It is easy to be overwhelmed, so retreat down the staircase
and pick them off as necessary. Midway, head to the right, instead. Kill the hollowed soldier and
the dog, and be careful of the archer on the roof. Before heading left into the building, head right
to where a Pharros Lock can be found. Activation of the Pharros Lock lights up the giant lantern
over this area giving protection from Dark Stalker attacks. If you walk off behind the Pharros Lock,
you can find a corpse with three Smooth and Silky Stones and a Large Soul of a Proud Knight.
Head back around and into the building with the archer. On the ground floor, there are three
hollows, with two playing dead at a table to your left. Dispatch them, then head behind the bar on
your left to find a chest containing a Bandit Axe and the Brigand Armor set. Go upstairs, but be
careful of the enemy that will drop down behind you. If you run up quickly enough, you can attack
him before he turns around to come after you. Grab the chest he was standing in front of for
a Repair Powder and a Titanite Shard. On the balcony, kill the archer and notice the door on your
left. This is a shortcut that can be accessed later from the other side. Drop down from the balcony.
Go back to the staircase in between the shacks and continue up. The building on your left with a
hole in the face leads to a dead end, so ignore it and head right. Go past the other building with a
hole in the front, as it also contains nothing, and head up the stairs alongside it, which lead to
several Dark Stalker enemies. The dead body on the ledge to the right after the third Dark Stalker
is holding a Large Soul of a Lost Undead and the Emit Force miracle. Head into the building
opposite the dead body, but be careful, as there will be several Dark Stalkers that burst through
the left wall inside as you try to access the door. Lure them out so as not to get pinned against a
wall. After killing all four Dark Stalkers inside the building, go into the room upstairs to find two
chests. The one on the left contains a Greatsword. The one on the right has two Silver Talismans,
but be very careful, as it also contains an arrow trap that will trigger when you open it, so put your
shield up and try to get slightly to the left or right to stand between the arrows. In this room, you
will also findLonesome Gavlan for the first time. Gavlan is a merchant that will sell you several
items, but more importantly, will buy items no longer needed from you in exchange for souls. This
is a great way to get something back for the items you know you will never use or duplicates of an
item. It is also recommended to buy the Ring of Giants that he sells for 5000 souls, which
increases poise, as it is likely that you don't have many rings at this point in the game, and this
one is quite useful. Also, it would help to buy some poison attack items like the throwing knives or
the Rotten Pine Resin for the upcoming boss fight.
After wheeling and dealing with Gavlan, exit the building and continue along the path. Go up the
stairs in the next building, killing the hollows along the way, to find a lever. Pull this lever to cause
the ghost ship to reposition itself closer to you. Roll down to the area left of the lever to find a
generous corpse who kindly relinquishes its two Lifegems and itsHomeward Bone. Turn around and
face the area you dropped from and fall down to another platform with a doorway. On the stairs is
a body holding some Fire Arrows. Downstairs, two Dark Stalkers wait for you. Exit and walk to the
right down the rocky slope to an area where you can light your torch to help fight the Dark
Stalkers you find nearby. Go into the small building just beyond that fire. Up against the wall under
the staircase, there is an illusory wall, so walk up to it and press X (A on XB360) to find one chest
containing threeFirebombs and another with a Large Titanite Shard. Go upstairs and interact with
the pullchain to open the aforementioned shortcut to the earlier areas of the wharf. Exit this
building.

Before going down where the Dark Stalker was to get to the ghost ship, head left into a room with
two hollows playing dead at a table and several jars of poison. On the right is a chest with an Estus
Flask Shard. Immediately to the left of this chest, you will notice a section of the wall looks a bit
out of place. Attack it to break it down, yielding a nice little hidden treasure trove. Kill the Crystal
Lizard for its ore, then grab the Soul of a Nameless Soldier, Large Soul of a Nameless
Soldier, Lifegem x3, Fading Soul, and Royal Soldier's Ring on the bodies and in the chest,
respectively. Lastly, Throwing Knife x7 and a Flame Butterfly await behind two more poison jars in
this room. Exit, and continue on towards the ghost ship.
Grab the Human Effigy and Lifegem x2 on the dead body draped across the sunken rowboat in the
shallow water, but be wary of the enemy to the right of it. There are a couple enemies hanging off
the side of the bridge that will ambush you as you pass, so pay heed. Before going towards the
ghost ship, go right along the bridge, then left to the platform. Here, you will find Carhillion of the
Fold, who will sell you spells and sorcery-related items, but only if you talk to him with at least 9
INT (the Ring of Knowledge can not be used to meet this requirement). Be sure to exhaust his
dialogue fully to get him to relocate to Majula. When finished, go to the ghost ship.
On the deck of the ship, four hollows will attack, so take them out and go inside the ship. Through
the fog gate is the boss fight.

Boss Fight: Flexile Sentry

The Flexile Sentry is an enemy with two torsos sharing a pair of legs. One side of him has
scimitars, which attack quickly. The other side has two clubs, which are slower, but do more
damage. Since he has no back, try to stay close, bait him into attacking, then move to his side and
combo a bit, then back off. The pillar in the middle of the room can be useful for separating you
from the boss, especially if you don't have a 100% Phys Reduction shield. The poison items make
this fight go much more quickly, so try to use them. After two minutes the water in the room will
begin to rise. It won't kill you, but it will make it much harder to move around, so try to kill him as
quickly as possible.
After the Flexile Sentry is dead, be sure to get the treasure chest in the room up the ladder for
a Pyromancy Flame and the Fireball pyromancy, then interact with the compass to be taken to
the Lost Bastille.

Notes
The Royal Soldier's Ring can be found in the area after pulling the lever in the room with 2 hollows
and poison pots, in the far-right corner of the room, there is a breakable wall which leads to it.
Summon sign for Lucatiel of Mirrah can be found at the gate for the shortcut.

Item Guide Part I Item Guide Part II
Your first trip here may be by using the nest after defeating the boss The Pursuer in the Forest of
Fallen Giants. If this is the case, you will land at the bonfire The Tower Apart. It is possible to clear
the entirety of The Lost Bastille from The Tower Apart bonfire without having first ever visited No
Man's Wharf. You cannot, however, travel from The Lost Bastille to No Man's Wharf until you have
first defeated the Flexile Sentry.
When you land, go up in the elevator, and then, when it starts to go down, jump on the top and
wait until it reaches the bottom again. You can access now a little cave with a corpse where you
can obtain a Scimitar and one Repair Powder. Go back to the elevator room through the hole and
take the elevator again in order to reach the cells. There will be a bonfire in a cell on the left and
some loot (confirm items) in other cells aswell.

Bonfire: Exile Holding Cells

Once you're ready, run along the path and you will come to another Heide Knight. Like the one in
The Forest of Fallen Giants, you can choose to fight or leave him be. If you defeat him, you will
obtain a Heide Knight Spear, a decent weapon for the spear users. Don't take the ladder down,
instead drop down the destroyed wall at the end of the path and go right, towards the water. Here
there will be a corpse with Soul of a Proud Knight and Human Effigy. Now drop down to the left
into the courtyard.
In the courtyard, you will fight a couple Stray Dogs. Either defeat the second dog standing near
the wood tower or lure him towards you with a long-range attack, because getting close to this
wood tower will trigger an Undead Jailor to drop down and fight you. It is also possible to attack
the jailor from above by choosing where you drop down. On the ground. if you attack the wood
tower in the back corner, it will break and a corpse containing Alluring Skull will fall down. Now,
defeat the Undead Jailor and look at the wall on the left to find a narrow path that leads to a chest
with an Estus Flask Shard and a Large Titanite Shard. Go back and continue, open the door with
the lever near it and kill two more Stray Dogs. You will notice a door but you can't open it yet.
There is a shortcut lever that opens the path back to the McDuff bonfire, but we won't do more
than unlock it and turn around.
Here you have a choice of breaking a wall that leads to a small armoury with a Royal Swordsman
and two Undead Citizens, with a door that cuts through another courtyard, or taking a ladder back
up to the higher walls. First we will go up the ladder and unlock a bonfire and blacksmith.
On the top you will see a Undead Jailor and a barrel. When the Jailor notices you, he will bump the
barrel downstairs. You have to stay close to the wall that has a big crack and dodge in the last
moment, this will blast the wall and reveal a bonfire (McDuff's Workshop) and a way to Steady
Hand McDuff. If the Jailor did not push the barrel or you killed him before he did, you can push it
yourself. Steady Hand McDuff will not serve as a merchant yet. When facing McDuff, the first chest
on your right contains 2 Large Titanite Shards, and the second chest contains 5 Titanite Shards.
The left chest contains 10 Iron Arrows, and the chest in the corner contains 10 Heavy Bolts. You
will notice another chest under McDuff, light the sconce in this room and rest at the bonfire and he
will move, allowing you to loot the Craftsman's Hammer and 1 Twinkling Titanite.
Attacking the large rock on the edge of the well will bring up a cage containing several Undead
Citizen who will drop the Wanderer Set. Within the two side rooms are home to several Royal
Swordsman each. In the room with the crossbow Royal Swordsman, on the ledge directly opposite
the door, there is a breakable wall. Destroy the powder kegs to reveal the Archdrake Robes and

an Archdrake Shield. Continue past that room to another larger room with another slot for
a Pharros Lockstone and several chests containing a Bone Staff, a Parrying Dagger and
the Twinblade. Using the Lockstone also allows access to two additional rooms with loot, simply
attack the Pharros faces to reveal them.

Bonfire: McDuff's Workshop

Go straight carefully, kill the Undead Jailor and a Stray Dog. You will notice a corpse on the top of
the left wall, don't worry about it until later. To the right there will be another dog and a corpse
with Gold Pine Resin. Keep going forward, kill the undead Jailor and before entering the tower, go
up to the little wall on the left and walk carefully to the ladder. On top will be a corpse with a Large
Titanite Shard. Jump down and meet Lucatiel of Mirrah, if you exhausted all the dialogues back
in No-man's Wharf. Talk with her until you hear all the dialogues. Now, make sure you have full HP.
Get close to the door in this room. You will notice that you can't open it, but, if you attack the door,
you will blow up some barrels that are behind it, allowing you to open the door now. You can also
shoot the barrels, as they are visible from the balcony outside. Go ahead and kill another Undead
Jailor. Go to the right until you find a room with three Stray Dogs on the bottom and a Royal
Swordsman. If you have ranged weapons, use the platform where you are as a sniper point, if not,
jump down and run to the other ladder, go up, kill the undead and then the dogs. Keep going until
you reach a chest with Antiquated Key and Covetous Silver Serpent Ring.
Soul Vessel
You will need a Pharros Lockstone to reach that one. From Steady Hand McDuff's Workshop go
back to the area with the wooden scaffolding, enter in the building blocked by planks, then go
outside again in the area with the well. From there enter the next building and on the elevated
surface facing the door you came through take the left, if you reached that room from the ladder
outside instead then it is straight ahead. In that next room there is a Pharros' lock on the right,
the secret wall will appear on the left once triggered. The Soul Vessel is in the wooden chest
behind.

Bonfire: The Tower Apart

If you reached this bonfire after defeating The Pursuer, it is the closer warp point to Lucatiel's
tower. You cannot reach the bonfire via the level geometry, however. It is a one way shortcut with
some extra items available walking on the balcony towards the chest mentioned above.
Go back to the tower where you met Lucatiel and then head left, through the broken wall, to
another platform with a narrow path and a door at the end. This part will be a bit tricky. Open the
door and take a look inside. You will see a crossbow Royal Swordsman standing. Try to get his
attention from this spot, he will go after you, along with another swordsman. Go back to the
platform and fight them. When you are done, cross the door and three more swordsmen will attack
you, coming from the left. Go straight where the swordsman was, and fight them there. If you go
downstairs you will find another swordsman and a corpse with Soul of a Proud Knight and Human
Effigy near a ladder . Ignore the ladder for now and go back to the door. Go left and kill two more
swordsmen. Open the door with the lever and kill two more (Be careful if you die, because the
door will be opened and you will have to fight FOUR swordsmen at a time instead two). The third
cell on the right will contain 2 Radiant Lifegems. Prepare for boss fight.

Boss Fight: Ruin Sentinels

Cross the fog and you will drop down to a platform, take care of your left and start the fight
against the Ruin Sentinels. You will be fighting three of them. However upon landing only one will
ever engage (perhaps after a long time the others may) Once this is killed or you fall down off this
platform, the other two will activate. The Sentinels can jump up to the platform should you stay on
it. It is suggested to fall down onto the main floor when the first is dispatched so you have room to
avoid their attacks.
Attacks:

Diagonal cleaves (can't recall L to R or R to L)

Slow and heavy overhand smash telegraphed by holding their hammer above or behind
their head: This attack leaves them very prone and is easy to roll away from. Their
tracking ability with this attack isn't the greatest, but better safe than sorry.

Sentinel will twist (confirm the tell) and begin spinning towards its target with its hammer
out. You can safely be inside its cone of death, and it doesn't drain much stamina when
blocked. There are many hits however, and be wary of getting crowded by multiple
sentinels.

Shield roll: Sentinel will lower their shield arm and rest their hammer on their shoulder.
After a moment the shield will roll along the ground straight at its target. Easy to sidestep,
the shield will stick in whatever wall it hit.

Defensive stance: Sentinel will backstep its engaged target with its shield up. If it had
rolled its shield away as per the previous attack, it will still be able to block. Unsure what
ends this, running it until a wall did nothing. Was unable to get behind as well (perhaps
with summons a back attack can be attempted?)

When the fight is over, there are numerous hidden doors within this area. They are opened by
facing them and pressing X/A but have no indication or interaction box. You'll find aTarget Shield in
a chest and a Rusted Coin on a corpse behind 2 of those doors. Inside one of these is a ladder with
a chest down a hallway containing the sorcery Hush. In that same hallway is another hidden door
that leads back to the boss room area with a corpse holding 3 Homeward Bones. This is the same
corpse visible from within the boss fight. The broken double doors indicate the route you came
from. Progress through the only natural doorway. At the top of the staircase there is another
hidden doorway. Inside is an Undead Citizen beside a breakable chest. The chest contains a Rouge
Water which can turn to rubbish should the chest be damaged. When you are done, keep going
until you reach a narrow path with cells on the side. On the last cell there will be a skeleton with a
trap that will explode. After this, you will arrive at the next bonfire.

Bonfire: Servants' Quarters

Near the bonfire, there is a ladder leading down. In the room below, there is a Stray Dog, a corpse
with a large club, a chest containing a Priest's Chime, and a Pharros' Contraption that hides a door.
Unlock the contraption to open the door that leads to Belfry Luna. Back in the Servant's Quarters
Bonfire room, ascend the stairs to the elevated area, and exit the room through the door. Close
this door to reveal treasure on a corpse. To your left there will be an undead Jailor with
pyromancy, so be careful. There is a corpse behind the crates and barrels with a Human Effigy.
Once you are done go back and take the other way, towards a tower.
The path here splits, with a staircase to the right leading up the tower, and an exit to the left.
These paths will rejoin shortly, but to the left exit has useful items and a shortcut back to the
courtyard (by dropping off the roof near McDuff's bonfire). Go through the exit, though be mindful
of an undead jailor immediately to the left. Go ahead and drop to the roof on your right. Search for
a corpse with flame butterfly. Run and jump to the opposite roof. There is a corpse with a Large
Soul of a Nameless Soldier. At this point, you can climb the ladder and through a window to rejoin
the path the stairs in the tower would have lead you to. Up the ladder head right, into the storage
room filled with barrels. There is an Undead Citizen hiding, and a door that leads nowhere and
contains nothing. Back down the hall with the window is a shortcut gate controlled by the nearby
lever. Be careful when opening the gate, as there are three undead citizens here, and one of them
can inflict curse. Progressing farther loops back to a familiar room with many undead citizens and
breakable jars. Immediately above you is an undead citizen next to a powder keg, and to the right
is a staircase leading back earlier in the level.
In the next room there are three citizens, two hiding in the pot-like things and one ledge just
above the door you entered through. After you finish them, go down the hall near a grated wall, to
find a secret wall at the end. Push X/A to open it and keep going. This will lead to a curving hall
with a long diagonal section. There is another secret door in this hallway, which will lead you
outside again. From this point, there are several sets of treasure to get which require some nonreversible drops, so you will have to come this way multiple times. Have some Homeward

Bone ready if you don't want to lose time here. First, jump to the platform in front of you, there
will be a corpse with a flame butterfly and 3xtorches. Then, drop yourself carefully into the narrow
wall. Go to the end of the wall and you will find a corpse with a Soul of a Brave Warrior and
a Golden Wing Shield. You either will have to drop down (very near McDuff's bonfire) or use a
homeward bone to go back to servants' quarters. Go back to the place before jumping and head
left, there will be a corpse with bracing knuckle ring. If you look down, you will see a platform with
a corpse. Drop down and loot an Alluring Skull, at which point you will be in a courtyard near the
Exile Holding Cells bonfire.

Belfry Luna Map (Japanese)

Belfry Luna and the sister location Belfry Sol are notorious for a high probability of PVP invasions.
If you are in online mode, anticipate frequent invasions potentially by multiple Grey Spirits as you
proceed through the area. Once you step onto the bridge leading into the bell tower, you are
susceptible to invasion.
This is a small area with fairly straight forward design. Upon entering the tower, immediately to the
right of the doorway is the Belfry Guard. You can choose to speak to him at this point, as
exhausting his dialogue will prompt him to offer joining the Bell Keepers covenant. Be warned that
joining still leaves you susceptible to invasions, however. Proceed straight through the hall and up
the first flight of stairs. Watch for the hole at the top landing, which will drop you back to the tower
entry. Your first Bell Keeper enemy will be behind and to your right when you reach the second
floor.
If human while climbing the stairs you will receive an invasion notice, the Dark Spirit Bell Keeper is
waiting on the top of the tower. Proceed up the second flight of stairs to the third floor, you will
encounter three more silver Bell Keepers. The doorway leading to the boss encounter is blocked,
so you will need to climb the long ladder to the top floor.

Dark Spirit: Bell Keeper

Regardless of whether you have the red phantom, there will be several silver Bell Keepers to
contend with here. The Dark Spirit has more HP than the regular Bell Keepers, but seems to have
the same AI. This is a divide-and-conquer type of fight, and is almost comical in the constant
running away from tiny enemies. While running around the arena in a circle you can simply grab
the lever and unlock the boss door in case you do not make it back down.
The Bell Keepers will destroy you with their rapid arrow attacks, which cannot be dodged by
running. Roll or make good use of the angled stone corners around the arena. Generally the
keepers will chase you in a straight line, and occasionally one will separate for you to take a few
quick swings. If you are not able to stagger the keepers, they will shoot you at every opportunity
while attacking. A spear and shield combo could be useful here.

Boss Fight: Belfry Gargoyles

A clear homage to Dark Souls Gargoyles, which was itself an homage to Demon's Souls Maneaters,
you now have to content with FIVE Gargoyles, each with their own life bar. Four or even five can
be engaged with you at once if you fail to kill them fast enough.
Attack types:

Diving stab

Sweeping halberd

Fire breath

Charged lighting bolt AOE (seen when the final gargoyle raises its ornate "staff" and
lighting shoots out nearby.

Dark Spirit: Vorgol the Sinner

After defeating the boss you can access the only bonfire of Belfry Luna. The area down the ladder
next to the bonfire has multiple dogs, a Red Phantom encounter, plus an EnchantedFalchion and
the Bastille Key as loot.
With persistence and the correct target lock angle, the dogs can be taken out with arrows from the
top of the ladder. It's recommended to at least kill a couple of them, as they will all aggro you the
moment you touch the ground. Both a short bow and a light crossbow can hit the dogs. It seems
easiest with a light crossbow in the left hand while the dogs roam toward the right. Push against
the ladder as you cannot fall.
Vorgol is a straightforward spear attacker, but will easily guard break you when your shield is up.

move through the area as quickly as possible while dispatching all the Bell Keepers.

Notes

Due to the high frequency of invasions, speed is the best tactic for this level, unless your
goal is PVP. Particularly once the bell has been rung, avoiding all enemies and sprinting to
the boss fog wall offers the best opportunity for success.

Playing offline is another option. However there are no NPC summons to help you
anywhere.

The fight against the Red Phantom Vorgol the Sinner after the Belfry Gargoyles is likely a
homage to the fight against the Capra Demon from Dark Souls, as the fight takes place in
a similar arena with a staircase, with dogs interrupting you while you fight a main foe.

After you defeat Belfry Gargoyles, if you return to Belfry Luna you are still open to PVP
invasions by members of the Bell Keepers Covenant.

Sinner's Rise Map (Japanese)

Sinner's Rise Video Walk-through w/ Boss
You enter the area by crossing a long straight bridge, with crossbow snipers firing down at you.
Open the main doors and follow the broken ledges around to the gap in the wall. Go right and up
the ladder to reach the area's only fully warpable bonfire. Before resting there, go right around the
corner of the tower and take out the three Royal Swordsman who were sniping you in the
beginning. These enemies will attack you on each respawn, so taking time to kill them 12x is
worth doing. Grab the loot on the ledge inside the tower and then go back to rest at the bonfire.
Next head back down the ladder and follow the stairs leading around the perimeter of the building
and kill another Royal Swordsman. There are three more in the room with the elevator. Once they
have been killed, take the elevator down to the basement. Look out for the treasure on a platform

just before reaching the bottom. Jump from the elevator to get 5 Lacerating Knife You should then
be able to safely drop down to ground below. The room you arrive in is safe, so prepare for a
relatively difficult set of battles as you proceed.
The next area is flooded, which limits your mobility. There are also three Enhanced Undead waiting
for you. It is highly recommended that you only aggro them one at a time. With patience you can
lure them back to the elevator room one at a time, so that you have better mobility. If you send
the elevator back up they can be tricked into falling into the hole beneath by locking on and rolling
away but of course this wastes any items they may drop. A nice trick is to get them to follow you
onto the elevator platform and then activate it and roll away. The monster will go up on the
platform and usually fall off to land on the platform over your head where they can be safely
picked off with sorcery or arrows, leaving their drops available but remember to recall the elevator,
ride it back up and come back down to retrieve dropped items as you will be stuck on the platform
unable to call the elevator back down. it is possible to roll down and land on the ground but tricky
so keep it simple.
Once they are dead, collect the random loot in the area. There is also an illusory wall (interact)
close to the stairs from the elevator. Head down the stairs and go right; on the right wall, is a wall
that opens to reveal a corpse with the Northern Ritual Band. Use caution in this area, as the
ground only extends a few feet out; don't explore away from the loot corpse.
Proceeding halfway into the flooded area offers you a branching path and the opportunity to go
upstairs to either the right or left. The locked cell on the upper left is opened with theBastille Key.
Your path forward is how to progress forward. Once you pass those stairwells, you will find several
open cells with loot and home to several Undead Citizen. Again, try to draw them out one at a
time, since getting swarmed makes this area significantly more difficult.
Once they are dead, it is essentially a straight, unimpeded run to the boss fog gate. If you have
defeated the gargoyles in Belfry Luna and have attained the Bastille Key already, you can proceed
up the stairs to either side of the fog gate to light oil lamps, which will illuminate the boss room. It
is also possible to summon Lucatiel to help in this fight.
At that point, you can head through the fog gate to challenge The Lost Sinner.

Strategies
- If you don't want to bother with fighting the Enhanced Undead creatures, but would still like the
souls for defeating them, try this: Once in the flooded area, send the lift back to the top of the
tower but jump off before heading back up with it. This will leave a small pool that the Undead will
fall into if you lure them one by one into the room. Let them begin to circle the small hole and then
trick them into attackingit's likely this will throw them off their path and end up falling into the
hole as they continue to chase you.

Notes
- Once you reach the flooded basement, it is possible to sprint through the flooded cells area
without taking damage. The enemies will aggro and give chase, but only to right before the boss
area.

Description
The Huntsman Copse is, at first, a cave like area leading in from Majula, that opens in to a small
forested area with a few buildings. It is initially locked until Licia of Lindeldt is spoken to at Heide's
Tower of Flame after defeating the Dragonrider. Exhausting her dialogue here will prompt her to
move to Majula, next to the contraption that cannot be activated on the way to Heide's. She will
request 2,000 souls to make the contraption turn, opening a clear path to Huntsman's Copse.
There are large moth-like creatures both in the pathway leading into the Copse and in the forest
itself, spraying poisonous gas. The area also includes a large bridge connecting it to the Undead
Purgatory. Another bridge connects it to the area in which the Skeleton Lords boss fight takes
place, though this one must be lowered via a lever in another cave.

Undead Refuge: After arriving in the Huntsman's Copse, the bonfire will be in a small
clearing, to the left. Felkin the Outcast is located very close to this bonfire. He is sitting on
a huge chair in the cave leading to Majula.

Bridge Approach: After passing the dark room filled with enemies, travel across the path
under the bridge until you reach a section with a ladder. Descend the ladder and move
under the bridge. The bonfire is inside a small room under the bridge.

Undead Lockaway: From the Bridge Approach, after acquiring the Undead Lockaway Key,
travel into Huntsman's Copse towards the first raised bridge. The bonfire is inside a locked
room near a pyre on the other side. Creighton the Wanderer is found here.

Item Guide Part I Item Guide Part II

Right after opening path to Huntsman' Copse there is body with Rouge Water on it.

From the Undead Refuge bonfire, follow the path until you reach the ruined building. Enter
the building. There are two bodies on a floor. One next to a hole has Lifegem andSoul of a
Nameless Soldier and the one in a corner Bandit's Knife. Climb the ladder. On the roof, roll
onto the ledge and pick up a Poison Moss and Lifegem.

Leaving the ruined building in the Undead Refuge area, dash jump to land on a ruined
outcrop and pick up a Token of Fidelity and a Pharros Lockstone. If you are afraid of that
jump you can drop there from bridge that leads to Undead Purgatory.

From previous location jump towards the bonfire. This will lead you to cave with Great
Moths. You will find there a body with Monastery Charm and Soul Of A Proud Knight.

At the bottom a a cave there will be Ricard's Rapier in a metal chest guarded by Torturer.
On the way out, next to the cage elevator there will be a body with Large Soul Of A
Nameless Soldier

From the Bridge Approach bonfire, head forward and then left of the bridge to pick up
a Large Soul Of A Lost Undead and Small Orange Burr.

After crossing bridge you will see a body under a tree on your left. It has only a Lifegem on
it. Far ahead you will see Artificial Undead turning his back on you. He is standing in front
of a body with Aromatic Ooze.

Stick to the left wall and you will find a hut with Morning Star and Large Soul Of A
Nameless Soldier.

Go upwards and until you find the large metal bridge structure. Follow the edge until you
can see a hole in a cage building and drop in to pick up Soul Spear, Green
Blossomand Poison Moss.

If you turn right after first bridge you will come across another one and a path to Undead
Purgatory. There is a dead end to the right - you will find there Notched Whip.

In a cave across great metal bridge there is a body next to Curse Jar. It has Magic
Mace and titanite shard on it.

After crossing great metal bridge stick to the left wall. Eventually you will across ambush
involving Crystal Lizard. There will be 10 Throwing Knives| on a body. You can drop down

from a cliff on a small shelf. There is a body with Poison Moss. Drop down further and you
will fine an alcove with Undead Lockaway Key.

Turn right in front of a boss gate and enter second part of a cave. In cave stick to the right
wall and you will find body with Combustion and Titanite Shard. Explore rest of the cave
and you will find a body with x3 Flame Butterfly on it just next to a lever that opens a
shortcut.

Notes

Licia Of Lindeldt helps you open the passage from Majula to Huntsman's Copse. If Licia Of
Lindeldt is hostile, you need to kill her to get Rotunda Lockstone to unlock the way
yourself.

The area design for the early portion of this level is modeled after the Hotel del Salto in
Columbia.

NG+ changes

In NG+, two black phantom Artificial Undead will spawn as you start to walk from the
alcove containing the Undead Lockaway Key towards the waterfall. As soon as you pass the
small scrub bush on the edge of the path, one will spawn in front of you, one behind you.
You can squeeze past the one behind you by hugging the inner wall and running/rolling
past him, and can lead him to the open area where the crystal lizard was, to fight in a
better location.

There is another black phantom Artificial Undead at the very top of the building you first
get into after the cave system. However, unless you're noisy this enemy will leave you
alone while on the roof, since it's facing the other way.

Why is the Artificial Undead facing the other way? To make things harder for you on the
way to the Undead Purgatory. The Torturers waiting at the top of the poles on the way
there are also tougher, more aggressive black phantom versions now. You can lure the
closest one down for a one-on-one fight, but once you get past a certain treshold they will
ALL drop down and dash towards you, leaving you to fight four high-caliber Torturers at
once.

If you don't want to fight them, you can dash through quickly, and lead them to the bridge.
Get past the two holes in the bridge, and prepare your best ways to push them off. For a
caster, Soul Vortex works very well to force off everyone but the Artificial Undead
phantom. Just be sure to not stay locked on to the ones who are falling down.

General Notes

Due to the volume of poison inflicting areas and enemies, farming Poison
Moss in Huntsman's Copse can be helpful if you are having trouble.

Burning the windmill in Earthen Peak removes the pool of poison outside the first bonfire of
the area.

Using a torch while in the poison tunnels does in fact improve vision.

It's important to note that if you are actively taking damage from poison, being in the
poison mist (or any exposure to poison) does not increase the damage you take or the
duration of your current poisoning. It will only start affecting you again when your current
poison is finished. So if you are attempting to get all the items in the poison mist you often
are better off just enduring the poison, using an estus to keep yourself alive, and planning
on returning to a bonfire afterwards. This helps you save a lot of poison recovery items.

Walk-through
Harvest Valley Map (Japanese)
Item Guide

Poison Pool
The first bonfire is accessed as soon as you enter this area. It is to the right of your path, through
a pool of poison. Poison will stick to you when you pass through it and will continue to build for
some time after you leave the pool. Sprinting through the pool should allow you to pass through
without actually poisoning your character.
Slightly beyond the bonfire, you will have your first encounter with Stone Trader Chloanne. She
can sell you some spells & regular titanite shards at this point. Exhaust her dialog options and she
will relocate to Majula.
Continuing on down the path, you will come to the first area filled with poison mist. Passing
through the mist will build your poison gauge, but unlike the pool, doesn't stick to your player. You
also encounter your first Banedigger. They are slow, but their dark magic and melee attacks can
be devastating. Once he is dead, you are free to collect the mass quantity of loot in the poison
mist, including what is likely the first Titanite Chunk of your playthrough.
Right behind where the Mounted Overseer was located is the entrance to a small cave with a
single Skeleton. Once he has been dispatched, you are free to loot the dead body hanging over the
pit. The body contains a Fragrant Branch of Yore. In this same small cave there is a chest within
the poison pool at the bottom containing a Fire seed and a divine blessing. Continue further into
the cave for a chest containing 1 Raw Stone and another encounter with Lonesome Gavlan (only if
you have already talked to him in No-Man's Wharf). Once you have finished trading with him, you
can head back out of the cave.
Up the ramp, you can access the next area with two more Mounted Overseer; use the same tactics
as before or climb the ladders in the area to snipe them from range. Just be aware that there are
several Undead Laborer on the cliffs as well. By climbing the ladder at the back of the small valley,
you can access a switch that will open the door to the mines. Go through the gate you just opened
and the Mines bonfire will be in a tunnel to the right.

The Mines
After resting at the bonfire, exit back out of the tunnel and head right into an open area without
any enemies. Be careful of the open pits scattered throughout this open area; none of the drops
will kill you, but you drop down into poison mist. At several points, you can drop down into the
mist to access some loot and exit out without encountering enemies or major delays.
If you take a left through a gap in the wall, you can access a side area with a ton of loot. Once you
reach the top of the hill, a Mounted Overseer will smash through a wall. If you circle around him,
you can trigger him to attack the back wall and open access to some, otherwise unreachable, loot.
(In NG+ the second wall will be broken down by an Artificial Undead). An Old Knight Pike and Old
Knight Greatshield can be found on the body in the righthand corner.
Exit back through the path you entered by and about halfway through, you can access an
additional area through a hole in the wall to your left. Note - once entering that area, you will not
be able to exit through the hole you pass through. This is home to a fairly nasty ambush with
four Artificial Undead. Avoid engaging them all at the same time. Ideally, sprinting up the ramp,
looping 180 back to follow the path and breaking the wood slats blocking the exit. From there, you
can engage them one at a time. This is an excellent opportunity to use Yearn Remain in the alley
do not drop into the arena, fire Yearn across the area then pick the Artificial Undead off with
Sorcery or arrows. Once they are all dead, you can access a fairly significant stash of loot. Be sure
to break all of the slots to access loot hidden in the alcoves; watching out for some
random Undead Laborer. Once you have collected everything, head back up the ramp and out the
same path where you fought the Overseers. Going left leads to a drop into poison mist that will kill
you but there is a Crystal Lizard so zap it with magic and approach the edge with caution. If you
instead go right, you can access some additional loot and drop back into the open area with pits,
near the bonfire. Stopping at the bonfire again is recommended at this point as you won't have to
fight these enemies again.
Loot from this area:

1x Fragrant Branch of Yore

1x Twinkling Titanite

1x Simpleton's Spice

1x Skeptic's Spice

1x Radiant Lifegem and soul

1x Large Titanite Shard

1x Green Blossom (x3 NG+)

5x Lifegem

From the bonfire, walk out again into the open area and go through the tunnel on the right side.
On the other side you see a bridge, drop down to the right of this bridge, the body here contains
the spell Chameleon and some additional loot in the poison mist. Once you do that, you will have
to either engage or side-skirt two more Mounted Overseer.
Head back up the ramp and across the wood bridge to engage your first Hammersmith. From that
wood bridge there are 3 paths. One left, one straight, one farther off to the right. Follow the path
straight to a doorway that leads to another Undead Steelworker in a room full of poison pots. He'll
aggro you when you take the left or right path so best to kill him now even though you're not
going to actually take the straight path yet. You can aggro him without entering the room, which is
highly recommended to avoid the poison pots and aggroing more enemies. Once he is dead, go
take the left path instead. It'll lead around the poison mist pit to another cave. Once inside, watch
for another Artificial Undead. Be careful as he tends to be at different locations in the cave when

you go in. Once he has been dispatched, you can access the Heirs of the Sun covenant and learn
the Praise the Sun gesture by praying at the altar.
Exit the cave and head back towards the wooden bridge and this time you want to take the right
path. There will be a stone corridor leading into a room full of poison pots with two more Undead
Steelworker. Try to lure the one out before entering; the second will be standing immediately to
your left when you enter the room. Once both are dead you can walk through the doorway on the
other side and you'll find a poison mist room. You are now in Earthen Peak and this path will have
some good items (including Estus Flask Shard) before becoming a dead end. You will have to
momentarily go back to Harvest Valley before entering Earthen Peak from another door.
Information for this dead end and then onward can be found in a separate section within the
walkthrough for Earthen Peak.

General Notes

The windmill before the second bonfire can be burned using a Torch. Doing so lowers the
amount of poison gas in the boss room.

Jester Thomas can be summoned near the boss door, a strong NPC who uses pyromancies.
His summon sign is located on the right side of the staircase the two knights guarding the
entrance were standing on. You will not be able to see his summon sign unless you've
lowered the poison level by burning the windmill near the second Central Earthen Peak
bonfire.

A Pharros' Device is located at the top of the area, in a room filled with breakable poison
jars. Activating it creates a water spring if you burned the windmill mentioned earlier; if
you didn't, it creates a poison spring. The water spring can heal from poison and restores
hit points. You can also burn the windmill after placing Pharros' Lockstone to get access to
the water spring.

There are two hidden rooms past the Crescent Sickle Phantom to the left and right of the
balcony. Activating the false walls reveals a bonfire and a chest containing a Petrified
Something.

Earthen Peak Map (Japanese)

Just inside the start of the area are a set of stairs. A pair of Poison Horn Beetle wait atop
the stairs and above a ledge just prior to the top. The ledge is accessible from a little
higher up and also contains a Skeptic's Spice. At the top of the landing is Undead
Steelworker. He won't see you unless you make a huge ruckus or get in his face. Another
down the hall will however see you when you reach this landing. Turning around you will
see a small platform above the void by the hallway with an Estus Flask Shard, and a
Pharros Lock Device. The lockstone reveals a Poisonbite Ring and a Large Soul of a
Brave Warrior as mentioned in the Harvest Valley. This platform leads to a series of
rooms, the first containing a Poison Horn Beetle. Through the doorway is a small room
between a larger hall. In the large hall is a Manikin that will aggro upon standing in front
of the doorway. Wait for him to come to you because the small room between you has
another Manikin and an arrow trap. Towards the end of the hall is yet another Assassin in a
corner, a chest containing a +3 Heavy Crossbow and 15x Heavy Bolt, and finally a corpse

containing a Soul of a Nameless Soldier.

Harvest Valley Connection Dead End (Optional)
When entering Earthen Peak from Harvest Valley there are two entrances right by each
other. This short walkthrough is for the lower path which is a dead end but has an Estus
Flask Shard. After this you'll need to go back and take the other entrance in Harvest
Valley to proceed with the map.
1. The stairs/ramp of the lower door should lead toward a room full of low poison mist.
The stairs lead towards an opening in one wall. A path exists the width of the stairs in that
room but otherwise will drop you to your doom. Walk directly from the stairs to the
opening. Note: If you have progressed farther in the game there may be no poison fog,
however it isn't a major enough issue to warrant waiting for later.
2. Along the corridor is a room with 3-4 Poison Horn Beetle and a Pharros' Contraption
which can be opened with a Pharros' Lockstone. It will reveal a secret door that has a chest
with a Poisonbite Ring and a consumable soul.
3. Return to the hallway and you can find an Estus Flask Shard which will be on a corpse
against some metal bars at the end of the hallway.
4. To get to the real entrance to Earthen Peak walk back through the hallway, up the stairs
in the poison room, and through the door.
5. The game will also say you are back in Harvest Valley, however if you take the ladder
to your right and then go through the doorway on your immediate right you will be back in
Earthen Peak and on your main path.
6. Before continuing it is recommended to return to your previous bonfire and rest.
Returning to your current location only requires you kill 4 of the Undead Steelworkers and
you've likely taken some extra damage from various side-paths. When ready return to this
location and the regular Earthen Peak walkthrough will guide you from that point on

Notes

This area has several archers and other enemies that are best dealt with by sniping from
afar, especially in the large area with the furnace and the lava at the bottom; bring a bow
and a lot of arrows.

The Alonne Captains are tough enemies, but they can be made to fall into the lava if you
aggro them by shooting them with arrows and move around a bit.

You will encounter items that are placed in lava throughout, like the Human Effigy near the
bonfire or the Bonfire Ascetic at the bridge. Unlike Dark Souls there is no lava protection
ring, instead you should cast the Flash Sweat Pyromancy if you have it, and use fire
resistant items like the Flame Quartz Ring, and the Hexer's Set (the Alonne Knight gear
dropped off the enemies here also has decent fire resistance if you don't have high enough
Faith/Int to get the Hexer's Set). Remember that standing in water or destroying vases
filled with water also temporarily grants you extra fire resistence.

In the hallway leading to Magerold of Lanafir, there's a staircase to the left. At the top of
those stairs, there's an illusory wall, and inside that room, there's a ballista pointing at
another illusory wall. If you're fast enough, you can hit the enemy behind the illusory wall
with the ballista.

You can use your Pharros lockstone on those water spills. Stand on them and use Flash
Sweat, and you will take almost no damage from the lava. The Second (after the mimic)
Pharros Contraption is a healing well, soaking in it will heal you.

1. As you enter the area from Earthen Peak, first head down the stairs to your left to
light the Threshold Bridge bonfire. The item in the lava is a Human Effigy with
enough health, Flash Sweat, the Flame Quartz Ring and armor with decent fire
resistance, you should be able to pick it up without dying.
2. Cross the bridge towards the courtyard. There are two Alonne Knights guarding
the entrance to the keep here. Draw them out, preferably by shooting an arrow at
one of them, then walk backwards towards the entrance to the area, keeping one of
them just out of striking distance. Their active range doesn't extend all the way
across the bridge unless they're actively engaging you, so the one farther away
from you will eventually back away, leaving you to deal with the other one on his
own. Cross the bridge and dispose of the second knight.
3. In the first room behind the closed door, there are another two Alonne Knights.
Walk towards the first one until he reacts, then back out through the door and fight
him there. The other one won't follow, for some reason, so you can fight them both
separately. The item under the fire is the Iron Key; you can pick it up now if you're
careful and have decent fire resistance, or just come back later when you've turned
off the fire.
4. The hallway to the right leads to Magerold of Lanafir. The stairs past the arch on
the left in the hallway lead to an Alonne Knight and a Pharros Lockstone. You can
also roll through the vases here to fireproof yourself and then go back through the
window to pick up the Iron Key. There's an illusory wall on the right that leads to a
room with a treasure chest (item?) and a ballista facing the wall. The wall the
ballista is facing is illusory and is directly behind an Alonne Knight. Open the wall
and use the ballista to take him out. Be ready, though, because there's another
knight you'll have to fight next to him.
5. After speaking with Magerold (he has some information about the history of the
Iron Keep that's worth listening to) and browsing his wares, head back and up the
stairs. There are three knights in this room, so don't rush in. Draw the one you see
immediately out without entering the room and dispose of him first, then head
back in. There's a sword-wielding knight on the left and an archer on the right.
Both will follow you immediately if you step inside the room, so trigger them and

back out. The swordsman's active range is farther and he's faster, so your best bet
is to lure him all the way outside of the building, kill him there and then go back in
to fight the archer. You don't want him shooting at you while you're fencing with
his buddy.
6. Next is a big open area with lava at the bottom and a furnace in the middle. There's
an archer around the corner to your right, up on a ledge. First, draw out the
swordsman on the pathway to the left. He's quite a ways off in the distance, so get
his attention with an arrow (without stepping forward so the archer doesn't see
you) then fight him as close to the door as possible. Then deal with the archer; he'll
eat quite a few arrows, so just shoot 2-3 at him at a time, then step to the right so
he'll fire his arrow into the wall, then step back out and repeat.
7. Now sprint up the pathway on the left. There's an archer on a platform at the far
end, so what you want to do is run under the platform, target him, then step back
and forth from under the platform in between his shots to shoot arrows at him.
There's also an Alonne Captain on the platform farther up; you can aggro him from
here with an arrow and he'll come down to fight you, but there's an easier way to
deal with him later.
8. Now that you've disposed of both archers, you can move around the center of the
area more freely. Walk back the way you came and down the stairs. There is an
Alonne Knight down here and a lever. Don't open the door yet, the inside is a
furnace and flames will come out immediately. The lever brings down one side of
the bridge connecting the two sides of the area. You can now run across and drop
down the other side to fight the Smelter Demon if you want; the boss door is
guarded by an Alonne Captain, but there's enough room to fight him comfortably
here.
9. Also on this side is a gap you can jump across to a chest containing
the Zweihander, and if you jump off the right to the small platform with the
staircase, you can pick up the Dull Ember for Steady Hand McDuff. Up the stairs
from here is a Pharros Lockstone contraption that triggers one of the fountains that
increase your fire resistance; you can use this to pick up the items in the lava
below.
10. To gain access to the rest of the Iron Keep without defeating the Smelter Demon,
drop down from the half-lowered bridge to the walkway below. Up the stairs is a
wheel you can turn to shut off the furnace; once you've done this, you can open the
doors on either side, and you've opened up the way to the second half of the keep.
There is also a lever down here that lowers the other end of the bridge, allowing
you to walk back and forth between the two sides of the area. The stairs here going
down towards the lava also have a pathway with a chest containing the Phoenix
Parma, which requires fire resistance to cross.
11. Inside the now-dead furnace, there are two large titanite shards and a Petrified
Dragon Bone. The ladder leads to a narrow walkway guarded by an Alonne
Captain with an Old Radiant Lifegem and a Green Blossom at the end. You can
fight him here, but it's tough as you're likely to fall off. The small ovens on either

side of the path will also detonate if you or the Captain hit them. The easier way to
do this is to walk back to about where you killed the archer from under the
platform and just snipe him with the bow from over there.
12. Now go back inside the furnace and climb up the ladder. From the beginning of the
narrow walkway, shoot the Alonne Captain standing on the top platform to the left.
He'll drop down to chase you, which is what you want because now you don't have
to fight him up there and risk falling off. Or don't and go fight him if you want. If
you don't want to fight him, note that he'll come all the way inside the furnace
room, so your exit will be blocked.
13. At the other end of the area is a door leading to another bridge guarded by
two Ironclad Soldiers. If you aggro the one on the left, the other will turn around
and begin to smash a hole in the bridge. Once triggered, let the one on the left
come to you and kill him. Then walk in, jump across the gap in the bridge and
walk through the door. The second Ironclad Soldier will be waiting to the left, so
immediately back out and either fight him outside the door or jump back across the
gap and kill him with ranged attacks. If you shoot him first, they will both walk
forward to attack you.
14. Behind the door, to the right on a raised platform, is an Alonne Knight archer. If he
runs to your left when you walk in, immediately activate the lever; it will lower the
platform in the middle into the lava, killing the Ironclad Soldiers standing on it and
the Alonne Knight who will have run onto the platform. If the archer starts
shooting arrows at you, shoot back and strafe to avoid his arrows. Activate the
lever again to bring the wider bridge back up if you want. Alternatively, you can
kill the soldiers and knights with ranged attacks; just be sure to strafe to avoid the
Alonne Knight's arrows.
15. On the platforms above are two Alonne Captains; you can fight them if you want
their item drops, or just step on the switches next to each platform to make them
fall. Make sure you don't fall to your death yourself. There is also an archer on the
far left, but as long as you keep moving, you can ignore him. Or go over there;
there's a Crystal Lizard on the way, and a lava pathway leading to a chest
containing the Chaos Storm pyromancy, and a Fire Seed on the part of the path
near the wall right of the stairs behind the archer. Be aware that stepping on the
switches on the ground will trigger lava fountains that stay turned on for the rest of
your playthrough.
16. From here, you can either go up the ladder (only accessible with the upper version
of the bridge activated by the lever) for some loot or to the right side of the room
to the exit door. The exit door is guarded by an Ironclad Soldier. Aggro him with
an arrow and he'll walk across to the left, often getting himself killed in the fire. If
he makes it to you, lure him on one of the remaining platforms and step on the
switch. Continue at 20 if you don't wish to go up the ladder; this is the faster way.
17. Up the ladder is a platform with some vases that you can use to fireproof yourself
and get the Chaos Storm from the chest below in the lava, and a Mimic chest
containing a Lightning Winged Spear and the Dark Armor. Climb the next ladder.

At the far end of the next platform is another chest containing 30 Destructive
Greatarrows.
18. The next ladder takes you to a small room with another Pharros Lockstoneactivated fountain and a set of stairs. The stairs take you to an open area with three
Alonne Captains. If you step outside, you will drop down and not be able to back
down the stairs, so kill at least one or two of them with ranged attacks before you
do. You'll find a chest here containing a Black Knight Greataxe and a corpse with
a Simpleton's Spice.
19. Now drop down the walkways; one of them has a Cracked Red Eye Orb and
a Torch. When you get to the penultimate walkway to drop down to (where you
can drop down to the cauldron), shoot the Alonne Knight first. Then either get to
the final one via the cauldron (the item on the cauldron is a Covetous Gold Serpent
Ring) or roll off the far end where the two are closest together. From here, drop
down to the platform that connects to the stairway.
20. On the stairway, you'll encounter another Ironclad Soldier, followed by another
one in a narrow hallway. Behind him is a contraption that blocks your path; you
can raise it with a lever in the wall, but this is essentially a trap; it drops down
again after a bit, blocking your exit route, and around the corner to the right is
another Ironclad Soldier who will get you caught between himself and the
contraption. To avoid this, wait for it to drop down, raise it again, aggro the
Ironclad Soldier, then run past the contraption to make sure you don't get trapped.
If you're lucky, you'll get it between yourself and the Ironclad Soldier; or better
yet, bait him to attack underneath and be killed by the trap.
21. Next is a square room with four fire-spitting bull heads. Avoid the fire and climb
up the latter to your left; it leads to the Eygil's Idol bonfire and to a switch that
turns off all the fire-spitting bull heads in the keep, including the one at the very
beginning that makes the Iron Key difficult to pick up.
22. The ladder up to this area is an excellent trap for the iron clad soldiers. Agro one
and climb up the ladder just out of their strike range and they'll bounce off the trap
walls until they die. Sometimes just up into the chute seems to help.
23. Climb back down the latter and leave through the exit at the bottom, guarded by
another Ironclad Soldier. This is the way to the Old Iron King boss fight.

Item Guide
There is a rarely spawning Black Phantom (red in color unlike the rest of the Phantom NPCs)
tentatively called the Mad Warrior, who wields a pair of the Berserker Blade katana. This enemy
has a low chance of dropping this weapon as well as individual pieces of the entire set of armor he
wears, which is unique and only obtainable from him. In order for the Mad Warrior to spawn you
must be a member of the Bell Keepers covenant (needs confirmation). This enemy respawns
(albeit rarely) with no restrictions unlike most enemies in the game, so you can farm it to obtain
the entire set and weapon. Be prepared for the long haul if you're going to farm this set. In my
instance it took exactly 120 kills to drop the last piece of armor, the blade and first three pieces
dropped in probably twenty or thirty kills. A good guess would be a spawn rate of one in six resets,
that's probably conservative. At a few points I was certain the respawn was over when I reset,
reloaded, rang the bell, spoke to the NPC, fast traveled and every combination known to man and
still hit >30 runs with no spawn. With gold and silver covetous rings, jesters hat, jesters gloves,
tseldora trousers, the string ring and popping every rusted coin ever minted it was a grind like no
other.

Walkthrough
Belfry Sol Map (Japanese)
This area is slightly hidden, located in the Iron Keep on the path to the Old Iron King boss. After
defeating the Smelter Demon boss (or bypassing it using the path from the furnace) you will reach
a room filled with lava and suspended catwalks. There will be a lever in front of you and to the left,
a set of stairs. Beside the stairs is a room with a Pharros' Lockstonedevice inside. Activate the
device to reveal an illusory wall with a ladder behind it. There is a bonfire up here, but be advised
that once you drop down to the bonfire you cannot get back to the lava room until you've beaten
the area (or warped through the bonfire). However, if you have enough health (or the cat
ring/boots) you can walk into the hole at the top next to the NPC from the opposite side of the
ladder and fall onto the upper platform below and escape the area that way. At the bonfire you will
find a ladder leading to the area, and an Bell Keeper NPC who will allow you to join the Bell
Keepers covenant if you have not done so already. As in Belfry Luna, there are several Phantom
dwarf enemies here, in addition to Black Phantom NPCs who wield a Greatsword and
dual Avelyn crossbows among other things, so take caution. Additionally, there is also a rare
Black/Red Phantom that can spawn here, who has a low chance of dropping pieces of the Mad
Warrior set and the Berserker Blade katana.

Notes

While playing offline I was invaded by 'Dark Spirit Bell Keeper' which looks like a Belfry
Guardian only red. Not sure if he has any drops or if killing him meets other requirements,
such as killing dark spirits to rank up in the Way of Blue, so further testing is required.

If you are intending to skip Smelter Demon boss. you can use the Belfry Sol Approach
Bonfire as a starting point instead of the Threshold Bridge Bonfire as a short-cut. Simply
climb up the ladder and go to the bottom left of the room with the belfry sol covenant npc.
from there, walk or run towards the top-right of the room and you will land next to the
ladder after the Pharros Construction, but it will only work if you equip the Silvercat
Ring(or if you have high enough hp).

treasure chest containing 15x Magic Arrows.

The 11th (on the wall) activates a greataxe-throwing statue positioned in front of a short
and narrow bridge.

The 12th (on the wall) activates the stone statue that will throw axes into the area below.

The 13th and last Pharros Contraption activates a trap to the left of it, which launches saw
disc blades that do piercing damage, along the narrow bridge.

Notes

Rat King Covenant members can use Bonfire Ascetics at the Ordeal's End bonfire (on the
upper level before the Royal Rat Authority) to strengthen the area's enemies, making the
zone more difficult for invading Gray Phantoms.

In the area where Lonesome Gavlan can be found, the player can sometimes hear
whispering voices. (may require waiting for some time)

Footnotes
1. There is little loot to be found than you'd imagine behind the many doors of Pharros. However,
members of the Rat King Covenant will benefit greatly by revealing allies and environmental
hazards for summoned grey spirits to contend with
2. For members of the Rat King Covenant, this is good for forcing summoned grey spirits to run a
gauntlet of enemies and environmental hazards in order to reach you.

Loot Guide

Great Heal can be found at the bottom on a corpse before some wooden structures.

A jump from the stone bridge allows you to obtain the Disc Chime that glows along the
wall on a small platform.

A crystal lizard can be found on a wooden bridge.

A chest contains the Ash Knuckle Ring, located just above the Exploding Undead
Citizens and The Gutter access at the bottom of the pit after Royal Rat Vanguard boss
and Rat King.

Activate either Pharros Contraption across from the bridges to lower them, one on first
floor and one on second, it's recommended to only lower one bridge as both are not
necessary. Inside the tower you'll find the hex Whisper of Despair. Be wary of a rat
ambush on the ground floor.

Pharros Contraptions
Lower Floor

The Pharros Contraption just outside the entrance lowers the bridge across the chasm,
giving you access to the hex scroll Whisper of Despair.

The Pharros Contraption to the left of the entrance will extinguish many of the torches on
the that floor.

The Pharros Contraption on the wall makes an endless gush of water fall from the ceiling
just before the ladder. (unknown method of use) 1

Upper Floor

The Pharros Contraption on the floor in front of the ladder lowers the bridge across the
chasm, giving you access to the same room with the Whisper of Despair hex.

The three Pharros Contraptions on the wall make acid that inflicts break 2 damage come out
of the rat statues.

The Pharros Contraption furthest in leading to the Grave Entrance bonfire activates the rat
statue nearby which makes another puddle of break-inflicting acid in the hallway.

Notes

Can be reached early with the Silvercat Ring and enough HP.

To reach this area without taking fall damage from The Pit, you must first get Laddersmith
Gilligan to move to Majula, and donate souls to him so he can make the ladders, the most
expensive will lead almost all the way to the bottom and give access to a hidden room

opened with the Forgotten Key inside are two chests containing Great Lightning
Spear, Soul Vortex, Witchtree Branch, and Witchtree Bellvine. The second most expensive
will take almost all the way down the well giving easy access to the Grave of Saintsand The
Gutter locations. The least expensive is a hilariously pathetic ladder that will most likely kill
you or leave you within an inch of death, use at own risk.

The Silvercat Ring, or Jester's Leggings help to reach the areas at lower HP levels.

An NPC controlled invader, Rhoy the Explorer, invades you close to the Royal Rat
Vanguard and drops a Heavy Crossbow+3 (mine was +5)

Rat King Covenant members can use Bonfire Ascetics at the Harval's Resting Place bonfire
(at the beginning of the level) to strengthen the area's enemies, making the zone more
difficult for invading Gray Phantoms.

Footnotes
1. Note, the sound of rushing water masks the sound of your movements for the most part while
in the upper and lower halls, and water also has the effect of reducing fire damage, while
increasing Lighting damage for a short time while you are wet. The waterfall also partially hides

Item Guide Part I, Item Guide Part II

The first Bonfire (Upper Gutter) is directly to your right when you enter the zone. Jump onto the
platform where you can see a treasure glowing. From there you access to the bonfire.
From the bonfire you can go on your right a a first platform where a Hunting Dog awaits you.
Circle around it and you should be ok. Be careful not to wander too much because there are
two Hollow Prisoners sitting right behind the wall. Kill them and break the Poison Shooting Statue.
Light the head of the broken statue with your Torch to see where you're going.
Progress like this till you find yourself on a ground platform. From there you can fall on the right
edge on a second ground platform below. Climb on the wooden structure and jump in a little cave
on the wall where a chest awaits you containing the Ring of Soul Protection. Then the scripted
Event of Melinda The Butcher occurs even if you are in hollow form.
The second bonfire is just after the first small fog door on a wooden structure. You need to break
through a wall to gain access to it.
One of the ladders from the platform of the second bonfire conducts you to Black Gulch (the one
near two big jars). Collect the Fragrant Branch of Yore. Beware of the green statues on the left and
enter Black Gulch.

Video Walkthroughs
The Gutter in 60 Seconds (Almost) - A video guide to get you through the gutter in a no-hassle
manner (Nigh7H4wk)

Notes

There are many sconces in The Gutter, and due to the low visibility of the area it is
recommended to carry a lit Torch. If one is running low on torches, the torch wielding
undead prisoners commonly drop them.

Lighted sconces not only increase general visibility, but provide a good way to mark one's
path to prevent backtracking and general confusion.

If you take a left from the first bonfire, jump onto the lower platform with the two undead
prisoners (one which wields a torch), and then take the ladder up, you will find a door
which can be opened with the Forgotten Key. Inside is Havel's Set and Havel's Greatshield.

About 3/4 of the way through The Gutter is a cave which contains a few Poison Horn
Beetles, and Corrosive Ant Queen. The mist released from the ant's abdomen cures the
poison status effect and poison buildup.

Once you've triggered Royal Sorcerer Navlaan (which won't have happened on your first
trip through the Gutter), he'll ambush you on the platform right under the ladder leading
up to the Havel set/shield.

Forgotten Key. To access, drop off the ledge near the second Cragslipper. Facing the face
of the cliff, roll down to the right, and then roll down to the left. You should now be outside
a large cave entrance. Enter the cave, kill both of the Great Giant Warriors to get
the Forgotten Key. They are easily kited, or sniped from an elevator room directly to the
right. Poison arrows do roughly 49% of their health in NG.

In the same cave as the Forgotten Key, open the chest at the back of the cave (within a
smaller cave) to receive the Ring of Giants +1 and Petrified Dragon Bone.

From the "Black Gulch Mouth" bonfire, stick to the left hand side until you come across a
small passageway. Down this passageway is a chest, containing the Shotel and aGreat
Magic Weapon scroll. Leave the passageway and continue on the left to reach another
passageway, Down this passageway is a chest containing a Divine Blessing.

Notes

1.

The mold covered maiden statues will shoot out poisonous arrows, inflicting poison
damage and staggering you if your poise is too low.

2.

The puddles can be set on fire with fire weapons or bombs and burn around minute. (They
will respawn!)

3.

Lucatiel of Mirrah can be found by dropping down before the first black pools

4.

Darkdiver Grandahl can be reached by dropping off the ledge near the
second Cragslipper onto a ledge, and opening the door with the Forgotten Key

5.

To access the "Hidden Chamber" bonfire, stick to the right of the path until you reach the
stone cave wall. Continue along the right hand-side to reach the bonfire.

6.

The summoning mark for Lucatiel of Mirrah is right next to the "Hidden Chamber" bonfire.

7.

If you have at least 10 intelligence, a staff, the binoculars, an attunment slot, and the Soul
Arrow spell you can easily destroy the poison statues from afar. After destroying as many
as you like, resting at the bonfire (to change out attunement slots if desired) will not
respawn the statues. Dying, however, will respawn them.

How to Open
Obtaining the following 4 boss souls during the current playthrough will allow the door to open:

Old Iron King Soul

Soul of the Duke's Dear Freja

Soul of the Lost Sinner

Soul of the Rotten

Alternatively, this requirement can be bypassed by obtaining enough souls. It requires 1 million
souls in the first playthrough, and in subsequent playthroughs, an additional million each time.
Note that it is not based on souls currently held, nor your total Soul Memory. It is based on the
total number of souls obtained during your current playthrough. If you began NG+ with 5 million
Soul Memory, it'll need to pass 7 million in order to meet the 2 million requirement.

Item Guide

First Cavern

Under the Tower of Prayer bonfire, open the door and knock off the Flame
Butterfly and Twinkling Titanite from the branch, dropping to the floor. Collect it later.

From the Tower of Prayer bonfire door, follow the path until you reach a wooden chest
behind a bunch of wooden crates. Carefully kill the enemy without breaking the chest!
Open the chest to receive a Skeptic's Spice and two Wilted Dusk Herb.

At the bottom of the Tower of Prayer bonfire, under the staircase you will find Large Soul of
a Nameless Soldier.

After exiting the Tower of Prayer, there is a chest hidden in the water to the left containing
an Elizabeth Mushroom.

Get a Smooth & Silky Stone from Milfanito.

Behind the Milfanito's cabin is a chest containing 3 Crimson Water.

To the left of the cabin, pick up the Soul of a Lost Undead, Torch, Soul of a Lost
Undead, Skeptic's Spice and Large Soul of a Proud Knight.

Before the first cave, there is a partially-submerged chest on the left side containing
a Dragon Charm.

Inside a cave on the left path, on the left hand side of the cave is a chest
containing Twinkling Titanite and three Smooth & Silky Stone.

Second Cavern

From the Crumbled Ruins bonfire before the second cabin, behind the Ogre there is a
narrow, submerged path through the water and out into the lake with 2 Shrine Maidensand
a Lizardman. Use a torch to illuminate the path and follow it to the end to find an Estus
Flask Shard and Sunlight Blade in an iron chest found underwater.

From the Crumbled Ruins bonfire, if you hug the left side of the area as you progress you
will eventually find a Pharro's face underwater near the left wall between two pillars, which
opens a small room on that wall with a chest with a Helix Halberd.

From the Crumbled Ruins bonfire, proceeding along the ruined, curved walls in the middle
of the cavern, there is a corpse between two walls holding a Fire Seed.

From the Crumbled Ruins bonfire, proceed until you can see the next fog door, then look to
the left wall for branches that can be broken concealing an Ogre and a body with loot that

consists of a Singer's Dress and a Life Ring+2. (Faster to double back from 3rd bonfire if
you have passed this point)

From the Crumbled Ruins bonfire, proceed to the 3rd witch on the small island right behind
the crumbled building with the torch. From this island look to the left. You will spot a small
calve coverd by roots and a broken column on the right side. Beneath the water there is a
rock bridge that leads to the column. The door behind the roots can only be opened after
defeating Vendrick (Note that you need to be fully human to open it). Behind it you will
find the Soul of the King on a throne, and the King's Set in a chest in an alcove to the left.

The ruined cabin contains a corpse with an Elizabeth Mushroom.

Far out into the lake past the ruined cabin, past some submerged Curse Jars, is a hidden
chest containing a Fire Tempest.

Just before the fog gate on the left, there is a stone path leading upwards to an Alluring
Skull at the end.

Just before the fog gate to the right, skirt the side of the cliff out into the water to find
a Soul of a Hero and a Divine Blessing.

Third Cavern

After exiting the cave with the Rhoy's Resting Place bonfire, skirt the cliffside to the right
out into the water to find a Large Soul of a Proud Knight and a Green Blossom.

In the submerged circular area lined with pillars, find a Soul of a Brave Warrior and
a Petrified Dragon Bone near the center.

In the submerged circular area lined with pillars, find a Red Iron Twinblade and a Soul of a
Proud Knight on a corpse near the center.

In the submerged circular area lined with pillars, find a Homing Crystal Soulmass on a
corpse lying on a block at the far side.

After proceeding through the columns out of the circular area, find a Large Soul of a Proud
Knight and a Green Blossom on a corpse straight ahead.

Outside the base of the tower containing the Rise of the Dead Bonfire there is in a chest
hidden in the water to the right of the stairs containing Magic Arrow x30 and Dark
Arrow x30.

In the lower level of the shrine which is connected to the Rise of the Dead Bonfire, there is
a cave under the stairs with a corpse holding a Fire Seed.

Outside the lower level of the shrine there is a chest to the left of the steps containing
a Manslayer

Outside the lower level of the shrine there is a chest to the right of the steps containing
a Bonfire Ascetic

Notes
1.

Bring long-ranged attacks such as a bow, miracles, or sorceries to deal with the Amana
Shrine Maidens. When using a bow, try to hit the casters with poison arrows and then hide
as soon as they are poisoned.

2.

A torch is essential to help you see where the water gets deeper and to reach items like
the Sunlight Blade, but walking around with a lit torch will drastically increase the range at
which Lizardmen will aggro you, likely drawing so many that they will be overwhelming. It
is recommended to take out as many enemies as possible and then explore using the
torch.

3.

Bring Magic Resistance Gear to deal with the large number of casters in the area. The
more of them are firing at you at once, the more likely you are to take damage.

4.

The Ogre is very vulnerable to poison. He also has a small 'territory' that he will not move
past and can be taken out from long range.

5.

After defeating the Demon Of Song boss talk to the Milfanito in the first cabin or next to
the shrine to get a Divine Blessing.

6.

After releasing The Imprisoned Milfanito in Drangleic Castle by using the Key to the
Embedded, talk to the Milfanito in the first cabin to get a Divine Blessing.

7.

Past the Rise of the Dead Bonfire is a sealed door. To open the door you must not be
human. Continuing beyond the door a road will lead you to a shrine and another Milfanito.
Talking to her will get you Divine Blessing and Fire Seed and Small Smooth & Silky Stone .
If you kill the Milfanto just before the Demon Song boss, this door will not open.

8.

While the Milfanito sing their song enemies like the Amana Aberrations will be rendered
docile and can be spotted by the fireflies congregating near their location.

9.

There is a Priestess that only uses healing standing with two Archdrake Pilgrims before the
Rhoy's Resting Place bonfire. She will only heal wounded enemies near her and if no
enemies are near her she will not attack players and will actively avoid them, most likely
due to having no attack animations. The Archdrake Knights will walk much faster then the
Priestess when attack the player, so they can be separated easily by kiting them back to
the cabin.

After you exit this area, you arrive at another bridge of ground, this time with just a drop to your
death on both sides, and a waterfall to your left. Almost immediately after this bridge, on your left,
you can see a phantom with a strong resemblance of Havel the Rock, so let's just call him Havel.
Havel is equipped with Havel's Set, and a Dragon Tooth, which he may two-hand. Be careful to not
aggro him before you are ready; Havel hits like a truck, and he is fast to boot. Consider luring him
to the bridge and shoving him off with a strong attack or another knockback ability.
After you've dealt with Havel, you have two directions. On the left, there are two phantoms: a
caster phantom and a sword-and-shield-melee phantom that looks like Ricard. On the right, there
is a dual-wielding melee phantom. I'll assume that you go left first.
Approaching the room where you aggroed Havel, you can see the caster phantom in the distance.
In the corridor to the right from the path to the caster is Ricard. Approach the caster from the left
so that you don't aggro Ricard yet. The caster will notice you as you approach and attempt to hit
you with soul arrow-type spells. If you're a melee character, dodge or block these (I brought a

light shield with strong magic damage reduction) and smash him at close range. Be careful not to
fall into the holes on the way.
After the fight, you might have triggered Ricard to move from his initial position. Examine the
direction you came from and see if you can see Ricard. If you can't, he's at his initial location in
the corridor to your left.
Ricard is an extremely fast phantom equipped with a thrusting sword and a light shield. If you try
to turtle defend against him with a shield, he will attempt a guard break and then hit you with
several quick stabs while you're stunlocked. Due to this, as a strength-focused melee character, I
initiated the fight with a strong attack as Ricard was charging at me. I'm not sure if Ricard has low
poise, but my two-handed overhead strong attack knocked him down completely. I then hit him
repeatedly until he was dead, without giving him a chance to get up.
After Ricard, proceeding in the direction you came from and past the bridge with a waterfall, you
can see the final Phantom. She (he?) seems to be a dual wielding melee character, although I'm
not completely sure if she has ranged abilities. My previous strategy against Ricard worked on this
phantom too (while the Phantom is charging at you, knock her down with a two-handed strongattack, and then hit repeatedly while she's attempting to recover).
With all three phantoms banished, you can safely return to the area where you fought the caster
and proceed to the narrow bridge that leads you to the brazier you need to light (use a Flame
Butterfly). After this, go back to the area with the third, dual-wielding phantom and proceed to the
exit.

Second Dark Chasm of Old [Shaded Ruins]

Melee walkthrough (strength-focused)
Continue along the corridor until you arrive to a room with a large pitfall. In the next room, you
will face two phantoms simultaneously. One of them is an archer and another a shield-and-sword
melee phantom.
You don't want to have them surround you, so lure both phantoms into a chokepoint (for example,
the corridor between the pitfall room and the phantom room) and deal with them face-to-face one
after another. Consider trapping this chokepoint with Lingering Flame so that you can deal some
helpful initial damage before you engage them in melee.
After the phantoms are dealt with, you need to get past a caster phantom on the far side of the
room. This phantom casts a traveling shockwave that probably will knock you down if it hits. I
managed to distract the phantom with an arrow, turning the phantom and then sneak right behind
him. In melee range, I just smashed him with a two-handed strong attack. Note that immediately
before the this phantom there is a hard-to-see pitfall, so don't rush in too carelessly.
After the caster is dead, you can light the brazier near the midsection of the room. Return to the
caster's spawn point and pull the lever to call the elevator. Step into the elevator.
You arrive in a large cavern with a ledge overlooking the rest of the area. Below the ledge, you will
see a dual-wielding melee phantom. Don't let this phantom guard break you, as he will get several
hits in while you are recovering. I started the fight with Lingering Flame as the phantom didn't
notice me due to the ledge. The phantom then started approaching, so I smashed him with a
poise-breaking attack when he was in range, stunlocking him in a series of strikes.
When this final phantom dies, the nearby fog door guarding the exit dissolves.

Third Dark Chasm of Old [Black Gulch]

This Dark Chasm map has six enemies: (2) Dark knights wielding double hammers, (2) Phantoms
with Xanthous King's armor (Pyromancy-user), and (2) Phantoms (mage).

As you start you will enter a somewhat lit room with a spiral going down. Be careful not to aggro
the Dual Hammer enemy not carefully, as it will also aggro the pyromancy and mage phantoms,
making for a hard fight. What I did was get only so close to the left outcropping edge and hit the
hammer guy with an arrow, then I immediatly rush back to the area where I spawned in. This is so
the Pyro and Mage will not draw aggro. The phantom running toward you will take some time to
get to you, so feel free to cast any spells. Watch out for his shield break.
After you kill him, don't go down the spiral yet but on the opposite side of the room you can see
the Mage, I used 4 poison arrows to take her out quick. Go down and fight the Xanthous. It may
help to go back up and fight him in the wide open area instead of the ramp. Once you kill him, go
down and right and toward the 3 waterfalls. This next particular area has a few pitfalls, so be wary.
Once in the room, there is another hammer wielding phantom on a ramp going down. Draw his
aggro and run back so you don't draw aggro to another pyro behind him. Again, you can use
poison arrows and run halfway up the ramp to release his aggro. Doing so twice should kill him.
Another pyro should be right behind. Take care of him and go down the ramp, the final mage
should be very easy to kill as long as you dodge her miracles, as they can knock you down. Once
dead, go back up the ramp until you're at the small waterfall, instead of going right toward the
hammer enemy you killed, go left and light the brazier. Go down once more and find the pitfall
with blackish-blue fog coming from it, its different for everyone (PLEASE CONFIRM).
IMPORTANT NOTES: (1) If you ever die in any case [death by falling, getting killed] after lighting
the cauldron but before falling through the exits, the chasm will reset and the cauldron will be unlit
the next time you come back. (2) If you manage to light all 3 cauldrons, the time you reach the
exit on your current chasm map, you won't be returned to the entrance and will face the
Darklurker boss instead.

Walkthrough

1. You enter this area through Giant's remains located after The Pursuer boss. You
need Ashen Mist Heart from Ancient Dragon to access Orro's Memory.
2. If you talked with Benhart outside of memory he should be sitting right in front of
you. Talk to him and he will be available for some future fights. Go left and up the
stairs.
3. You will find here for infantrymen and a corpse with some souls. Use a Pharros'
contraption if you have a spare stone. It will open passage to a room with a chest
and another Pharros' contraption. Using this one won't do you any good - it will
trigger a trap. And the chest is also trapped. But there is a hidden passage here directly to the right of the contraption. In this room you will find Fire Seed and
Steel Set. Get back to a staircase on go up.

4. On top of a walls you will see Giant pyromancer and Elite Giant fighting with a

After a series of lifts left of the Scorching Iron Scepter contraption, past the Prowlers.

Walkthrough
To enter the DLC, you must go to the primal bonfire after the Old Iron King and examine the
obelisk in the room after the bonfire. Once in the DLC, you will be in a room containing stairs
leading to an elevator, and two side rooms. These side rooms can be used by players whom do not
have the DLC to place their summon signs, allowing them to be summoned into the Iron
Passage or the Memory of the Old Iron King ? . Go up the stairs and open the big door with
the Heavy Iron Key.
Straight ahead is an elevator, take it and at the top, cross the mist wall. Turn right and go up the
stairs. You will see several bodies strewed across the floor, and the remains of an Ashen
Idolholding 6 x Smelter Wedge. Remember to save four of these for the room containing the Fume
Knight. Cross the giant chain, and in front of you will be the Throne Floor bonfire. As soon as you
reach an ash covered area after some stairs, an Ashen Idol will appear. Avoid it's flame pillar
attack and examine it, and use a Smelter Wedge to destroy it. It will drop a Soul of Nadalia, Bride
of Ash fragment. Go down the stairs on the left side of the area and pick up the Dexterity Ring of
the corpse.
Go back up and go through the doorway parallel to the stairs. Follow the path and drop down onto
the elevator, and again onto the round platform. Pick up the 2 x Old Growth Balm from the corpse
and drop down onto the level below. Go through the doorway and down into an ash field. An Ashen
Warrior will emerge from the ash, kill it and pick up 2 x Twilight Herb from the corpse on the left.
Destroy all of the ash bodies and pick up a Large Soul of a Proud Knight. There is another ramp, to
the right of the ramp is a corpse holding a Rouge Water. Four Ashen Warriors will appear once you
go down the ramp, dispatch them. Enter the doorway to the right and go down the ladder. Go
around the round structure to pick up a Blackweed Balm. Continue down another ladder and pick
up 10 x Prism Stone from a corpse.
Following the hallway at the bottom of the ladder, you will find a metal chest containing a Titanite
Slab. Continue down the ladder next to the metal chest and you will enter a large room containing
an Ashen Idol and several Ashen Warriors. Try to destroy the Ashen Idol as quickly as possible. In
the room to the right of the ladder are two more Ashen Warriors and a corpse holding the
pyromancy Dance of Fire. At the end of the large room and to the left is a lever. Pull it to open the
big door. Follow the path to the left of the door to find 2 Ashen Warriors hiding in ash and several
ash figures. Destroy the ash figures to find 2 x Old Mundane Stone. There is also a corpse holding
5 x Lloyd's Talisman. Opposite this corpse is a fake wall, open it and within are two metal chests.
One contains 4 x Old Radiant Lifegem and 4 x Wilted Dusk Herb. The other contains 2 x Soul
Vessel.
Go back up to the doorway and follow the path right.

There are two hidden rooms in the barrel room side corridors containing two metal chests.
Lead Cask Runners to the visibly broken walls and blow them up with fire damage to
destroy the walls.
o

Catarina Gauntlets and Catarina Leggings. The wall is near the pair of Fume
Sorcerers.

8x Petrified Dragon Bone room is close to the ambushing Fume Sorcerer.

Scorcher Tower

2x Petrified Dragon Bone before the ladder.

Dried Root in a room you can drop down onto from the top of the ladder.

One of the rooms down the ladder contains the Recollection hex and 2x Twinkling Titanite.

The Scorching Iron Scepter is in a room filled with Scorchers. They will become aggressive
when you take it.

Foyer (After Placing the Sceptre)

Take the elevator up, step out and take the next elevator going up. As soon as you step on
the elevator, move close to the front wall and attempt to interact with the wall. When the
elevator comes down, an illusory wall will be open. Enter the room and open the chest to
pick up the Hollow Skin.

Take the same elevator up and continue to the right to a two-level corridor full of enemies.
o

15x Lacerating Knife in the lower corridor.

In the upper corridor there is a breakable wall near the stairs. Lead a Cask
Runner to it, blow it up with fire damage and pick up the Dispelling Ring +1.

The chest at the end of the upper corridor contains 4x Smelter Wedge.

Up an elevator near the Foyer bonfire is a ledge you can jump onto while the elevator is
going up. Here you can find a Crystal Lizard and 2x Brightbug inside a metal chest.

Take an elevator one level down. On the ash platform with three ambushing Iron
Warriors you can find:

Tower Key on the last corpse hanging on the cliff.

2x Titanite Chunk, 2x Twinkling Titanite, Skeptic's Spice, 2x Wilted Dusk Herb,

2x Human Effigy, 5x Charcoal Pine Resin.

Hidden inside a statue, Large Soul of a Nameless Soldier.

In front of the Scorching Iron Scepter contraption is a door that requires the Tower Key to
open. An Ashen Idol that causes Curse is also behind it.
o

The Fire Snake pyromancy is inside a metal chest and

5x Large Titanite Shard next to the Fire Snake room.

3x Old Radiant Lifegem in a wooden chest.

2x Twilight Herb before the elevator to the Iron Passage entrance.

Take the elevators as far down as possible. In the multi-level structure you can pick up
a Strength Ring in a metal chest on the top floor and a Partizan +6 further down.

Lowermost Floor

Before taking the elevator down to the Lowermost Floor, there is a side room with
a Sorcery Clutch Ring inside a metal chest.

A Soul of a Brave Warrior is hidden in an ash statue on the far left side of the Lowermost
Floor. One closer to the bonfire contains 3x Titanite Chunk.

Pick up the Crown of the Old Iron King after beating the Fume Knight.

Notes

See Ashen Idol for the locations of all the idols.

Some of the crumbling ash statues contain consumable soul items.

Iron Hallway Entrance

After having received the Tower Key, you can access this bonfire from the giant chamber
that contains the Fume Knight.

Walkthrough
Starting from the bonfire, continue through the passageway until you reach a lever in the middle
of a room with cells in front of it. Here you will have 2 options to proceed through this area, both
being quite difficult if you are unprepared.

Lever Route
If you use the lever in the first room, a gate will open, allowing you to bypass most of the
enemies. However, you must get through the gauntlet within 8 seconds after pulling the lever,
otherwise the gate will have closed.
After the first gauntlet, there is a single Astrologist. Continuing on you will reach the second
gauntlet's lever. Watch out for the Fume Sorcerer that will spawn near it. After pulling this lever,
you will have 8 seconds to reach the end of the gauntlet, which is longer this time. After this
gauntlet, you will see another Astrologist in the leftmost passage.

Drop down the other passage to access the Possessed Armor, the 3x Old Growth Balm and the
3x Cracked Red Eye Orb in the room that precedes the blue Smelter Demon. If you summon either
of the NPC phantoms, they will head for the boss door through the other route.
It is possible to clear the route from enemies before pulling the lever by using Soul Appease. It can
hit them through the wall.

Dash Route
This route is accessed by dropping down the leftmost passage in the room with the first lever. This
leads to a sequence of caverns which contain multiple enemies, ranged attacks can be useful as
there enemies on platforms you cannot reach if you go this route. It is possible to summon the two
NPC summons for this route, allowing you to ignore most of the enemies safely as you dash
through.

Co-op
If you decide to summon a player phantom there are two good ways to clear out the passage, you
can also run through it.
The first involved letting the phantoms through the lever gate and letting them clear out all the
enemies on the ledges in the passage. Just pull the lever and let them pass through the grate and
then either kill or let the Iron Warriors in the cells reset. This is not recommended if you summon a
npc since they can get stuck in the passage by the grate. If you as a phantom decide to block the
fireballs to allow the host through note that after blocking three shots the Iron Warriors will start
to attack you.
The second involves simply killing everything in the rooms, you can try to run through the rooms
but this may cause your phantom to die. If you decide on running you can stop when you have
dropped down into the room with the fog door to buff, heal and change equipment.
If you decide to clear the rooms without using the lever this is easily done by shooting the casters
with poison arrows and then killing the Iron Warriors. One of you shoots arrows while the other
holds a shield in front of him, blocking the lighting spears and arrows. The casters on the ledges
often does not recognize that they have been hit if a phantom shoots them, therefore it is best if
the host shoots and the phantom blocks. Not activating the switch and killing everything is most
likely the best strategy since the others can be difficult to communicate (it is the one I have had
the most success with).

Loot

7x Large Titanite Shard, found in the third cell on the right in the first gauntlet.

2x Crimson Water found on the low ledge in the first room of the Dash route. You must
past the first gauntlet of the Lever route to reach the item however.

Simpleton's Spice and 5x Torch in the second cell gauntlet.

2x Wilted Dusk Herb on a ledge.

3x Old Growth Balm and 3x Cracked Red Eye Orb found on the ledge in the room
preceding the blue Smelter Demon.

Dried Root on the ground before the boss.

Pharros Mask, found in the area after the blue Smelter Demon arena.

Locations of the Loyce Knights

Loyce Knights will help you in the fight against the Burnt Ivory King. There are four in total.

One
The first can be found in the Inner Wall area. To get to him, follow the usual path until you
reach the three golems surrounding a chest. Head to the right, where the ice was
previously blocking passage. Follow this path until you reach a door. Open it and talk to the
Eleum Loyce knight who is sitting in the chair.

Two
The second can be found once you reach the Lower Garrison bonfire. From this bonfire,
open the gate to the ice cavern and continue down. Once in the cavern with the Covetous
Demon, look for a passage in the leftmost wall. Follow it and head right. Follow this path
until you reach an elevator. Take the elevator up and head up the hill. Once at the top of
the hill you will reach a temple. Open the doors to the temple, and talk to the Eleum Loyce
knight who is sitting in the chair.

Three
The third can be found near the invasion position of Castaway Witch Donna. To reach him,
you need to start at the Abandoned Dwelling bonfire, run until you reach the ramparts.
Then go down the staircase that was blocked by ice, and continue until you reach the
bottom of the area. Once at the bottom, head out through the tunnel and unlock the
shortcut, which will allow you to run from the Inner Wall bonfire to the knight very easily.
Once you have dispatched Castaway Witch Donna, open the doors to the temple, and talk
to the Eleum Loyce knight who is sitting in the chair.

Four
The fourth and final knight is already ready to fight the Burnt Ivory King, staying on a
raised platform behind the fog gate.

Invaders

Hexer Nicholai
In the Lower Garrison area, before the bonfire.

Holy Knight Aurheim

After the Inner Wall bonfire, will invade, hidden as a barrel just before the exit leading
outside.

Castaway Witch Donna

Near the third Knight of Eleum Loyce. The route to her is accessible after defeating Aava,
the King's Pet.

Loot

The sorcery Soul Flash can be found in a metal chest after moving the elevator filled with
rubble in the first series of rooms after the Outer Wall bonfire.

To find the Old Bell Helm, take a left instead of a right just before the Abandoned Dwelling
bonfire into a room. Break the boxes and continue along the path until you reach the item.

The Northwarder Set can be found up a ladder next to the metal chest that contains Soul
Flash. The elevator full of junk has to be called up first.

After the Abandoned Dwelling bonfire, head along the path until you see a opening
between two buildings consisting of a snowy drift. Walk over the drift and along the ledge
to find the Ring of the Embedded.

After the courtyard, enter the building to the left of the broken bridge and ascend to the
top. In the leftmost chest is a Soul Vessel. In the middle chest is a Sorcerer's Twinblade. In
the rightmost chest are two Divine Blessings.

After finding the three metal chests, drop down to the right and continue until you find a
tree with a corpse on. The corpse is holding the Dark Clutch Ring.

On a corpse lending on a grate, you will find two Goldenfruit Balm.

In the small courtyard with three dogs, you will find a Winged Spear +7.

At the bottom of the small courtyard's staircase, take a immediate left and you will find
five Torches.

In the corridor after the small courtyard, you will find a clearing to your right. The corpses
are holding a Dried Root, a Retainer Staff and one holding two Goldenfruit Balm.

In the large courtyard, after the tunnel head to the left and pick up five Small Blue Burr.

In the turret room after the first gate of the Abandoned Dwelling area, there is a mimic
holding Catarina Armor. The chest next to it contains a Titanite Slab. The next chest
contains seven Old Radiant Lifegems. The next chest contains three Bonfire Ascetic. The
final chest contains two Brightbugs.

On the ramparts, there is a corpse hold fifteen Prism Stones, and another holding
two Goldenfruit Balm. Also, at the end of the ramparts is a Pharros Lockstone contraption.
Using it will give access to a metal chest contain Durgo's Hat.

At the opposite end of the ramparts is a metal chest holding three Elizabeth Mushrooms.

After the ramparts there is a tower containing several dogs. Once you have the Eye of the
Priestess, a invisible ladder will appear to the left of the door to this tower. Climb up it and
open the metal chest to receive Splintering Lightning Spear. Also, at the bottom of this
tower is a Human Effigy.

After dropping down the broken staircase, there is a corpse holding two Green Blossoms.
After this, follow the path and ascend the tower to find a table with the Eye of the
Priestesson.

Just before the Inner Wall bonfire, there is two corpses, one holding a Skeptic's Spice, and
the other holding ?.

After the Inner Wall bonfire, in the room containing the two golems are two metal chests.
The first metal chest is a mimic holding the Symbol of Avarice. The second contains
threeTwinkling Titanite and three Petrified Dragon Bone

In the chest surrounded by three golems is a Curved Nil Greatsword.

Enter the area after the three golems, normally blocked by ice. Follow the path around and
you will find a corpse holding three Flame Butterfly. To the right of this corpse is an
illusionary wall. Open it and drop down onto the bridge. Head forward and up the staircase
until you reach a metal chest. This chest contains a Fire Clutch Ring. Head back to the
bridge and follow the path to the left. Eventually you will reach a ledge that drops onto a
bridge. Drop down and go to the right. You should see a metal chest. Open it to receive
aTwin-headed Greatbow.

After taking the elevator down to the Lower Garrison area, you will see two corpses. One
corpse is holding two Goldenfruit Balm. Another is holding two Monastery Charms.

In the Lower Garrison area there is a corpse holding two Twilight Herbs. Further on is
another corpse holding two Old Growth Balm.

Near the Lower Garrison bonfire is a corpse holding two Magic Stones. Near the large,
metal gate is a metal chest containing three Boltstones.

In the area with the Covetous Demon are several corpses, one holding one Dried Root,
another holding another Dried Root. One leading on the wall holding a Large Club +8.

Another holding two Twinkling Titanite. And two at the back of the cavern, one holding
three Smooth and Silky Stones and the other holding one Crimson Water. The Covetous
Demon himself will drop the Ivory Warrior Ring.

In the area after the Covetous Demon, there is a corpse holding five Charcoal Pine Resin.
On a ledge nearby is a corpse holding one Pharros Lockstone. Travel up the elevator to
reach the other side of the broken bridge, and pick up Azal's Staff, four Radiant
Lifegem and three Cracked Red Eye Orbs. Climb to the top of the hill behind you and pick
up three Vine Balm from a corpse.

To get to the Bone Fist, return to the area just before the Abandoned Dwelling bonfire,
after speaking to Alsanna, Silent Oracle. There will be a new path going forward. Follow
the path, light the sconces and the stone door will open into a cave. In this cave a couple
of corpses. On the behind the illusionary wall is the Bone Fist, whilst on the other one is
twoHuman Effigies. At the end of the cave is a Flexile Sentry, defeat it and pick up
the Garrison Ward Key.

Notes

Most of the loot, the Expulsion Chamber bonfire, and the Lower Garrison bonfire will be
inaccessible until you defeat Aava, the King's Pet and speak to Alsanna, Silent Oracle.

The difficulty of this area means that generally shades do not last long enough to help
release the Loyce Knights. After clearing the ice you can use a bonfire ascetic at the Outer
Wall bonfire to allow summoning of phantoms. This of course increases the difficulty and
respawns Aava but it's worth it as the areas where the Loyce Knights are waiting have
some difficult enemies that are best to take on in a group.

Torches will immediately extinguish when the area is under a blizzard.

Phantoms can get the enemy drops, too.

After defeating the Burnt Ivory King, you can return and face three Charred Loyce Knights.
They will respawn each time the area is loaded. This mean that if you get summoned while
fighting here, upon returning three more knights will spawn, regardless of whether you
had killed the first three or not; this means you may end up fighting up to six knight at the
same time.

I left a summon sign by the Cathedral fire, and then jumped down to The Old Chaos. I only
managed to kill one knight before I got summoned. Upon returning (host didn't want to kill
the boss, so the "duty" was unfulfilled), three more knights spawned, along the remaining
two. However, after I killed a couple of them, more kept spawning (as how it happens
before killing the boss). I teleported back up, so I don't know wheter they keep spawning
indefinitely. Can anyone confirm this? NEEDS TESTING.

The Charred Loyce Knights seem to respawn infinitely, on their own individual timers. If
you kill one, wait a little while, and then kill the other two, the portal that spawned the first
one seems to spawn another one earlier than the other two. Further documentation
needed.

Walkthrough
Walkthrough 1 (Main Walkthrough)
This whole area is covered in a blinding blizzard. This makes it very hard to navigate, and can
allow the enemies to catch you off guard. Occasionally, the blizzard will die down, allowing you to
see where to go next.
From the direction you spawn facing (12:00), walking backwards to the left (7:30) will bring you to
an area with two NPC summon signs.
One of the ruined houses contains a Pharros contraption which creates a healing pool of water. This
can be used for NPC summons.

To get to the boss, stick to the right wall, go until you see the cliff, move along the cliff to the left
you should see a path to go down and lead to the boss room. Ignore the horses, they will keep
respawning more and more and you will be overwhelmed eventually if you keep on killing them.
The 2 NPC summons will provide great distraction.
Frigid Outskirts & Boss Walk-through Video

Walkthrough 2 (Boring but easy)

From the coffin, walk towards the light. You should encounter one horse on your way to the wall.
Kill it, and continue following the light until you hit a wall. When you hit the wall, travel to the left
of it for a very, very, very long time. This is a very long way with several horses (4 or 5) but it's
the easiest and you shouldn't get lost on your way. As you continue following the wall, you'll end
up by the cliff sooner or later. Follow the edge of the cliff to get the Ring of the Living on a corpse,
and keep going until you reach the path. Then you can enter the boss fog. If you stick to this path
but die a lot by the horses, they will eventually despawn, so it is recommended to just kill them
on your way. DO NOT waste any Estus while fighting the horses. You may need as much Estus as
possible to win against Lud, the King's Pet & Zallen, the King's Pet.

Walkthrough with only 3 horses to fight and no human enemies.

The key to accomplishing this very easy method to get to the boss gate is to run from building to
building without stopping. From the summoning area, face the first building and when the blizzard
clears immediately run to the back left corner of the building. There should be no horses to kill on
this stretch. Go to the front door of this building and look towards the next building. Once the
blizzard clears again, run to the corpse that is slightly left of the building and about halfway there.
Once you get to the corpse angle a little right and run directly towards the building. You will be in a
blizzard when you get to the corpse, so you have to guess how much to turn. Do not fight the
horse that will spawn, just try to dodge or tank the lightning. Once you reach the building, kill the
hollows and horse, heal if necessary and prepare for the next stretch. Go to the door on the side
with the Pharros Contraption and wait for the next clearing. Immediately run to the back left
corner of the next building. You will not aggro the human enemy but will have one horse to dodge
on the way. Once inside kill the hollow and fight the horse on the raised area inside the building.
Hopefully, the rampart golem will ignore you until you are done. Kill the golem and prepare for the
last stretch. Looking straight out the door where the golem was, you can see the pathway down to
the bridge. You want to aim a little right of that so that you are dropping into the pathway about
halfway. When it is clear run to the pathway and drop into it. Fight the single horse that should
spawn down in the pathway before walking out onto the bridge. Now proceed to the boss. This can
be done with or without summons. The two NPC summons will be a good distraction for the horses
while you are running between buildings. Here is a video of this method showing both with and
without summons:
Frigid Outskirts the easy way

Enemies

The Ice Stallions can be despawned. The reason that there seems to be so many of
them is that they appear to spawn soon after being killed instead of when the area is
reloaded. I would draw a line from one point to another (e.g. from one set of ruins to the
next) leaving behind a trail of Prism Stones. I would move slowly until they stopped
spawning where I was and move on until they started spawning again. Eventually they
would stop spawning and I could run back and forth along my line without triggering any
more Ice Stallions. This line was then safe permanently after dying or using the Feather. I
could then eventually run through from the start all the way to the ice bridge leading to
the boss without seeing any Ice Stallions. This process takes a couple hours, but given the

difficulty of the boss it might be the most efficient approach for some. The Ring of
Whispers can be useful to hear them coming. Please Note: If you use Prism Stones, if you
die or leave the area they will be gone.

Loot

On a corpse, two Human Effigies.

Ring of the Living on a body near the chasm.

Dried Root and Mirrah Hat in a ruined house

Lacerating Knife x20 on a corpse

Twinkling Titanite x2 on a corpse

Blackweed Balm on a corpse in a coffin to the right of where you spawn

Notes

Only accessible from the Expulsion Chamber bonfire in Frozen Eleum Loyce.

Enemies here can drop some of the DLC exclusive items for co-op summons only. Ice
Stallions can drop the Bone Fist.

A map of the area for navigation.

Even in a blizzard, you should be able to see light coming from the north. You start in the
east and the boss is in the west, so keep the light to your right if you get lost.

Another way is to keep track of your shadow - even during blizzard it is, though barely, still
visible. For example, wait in waypoint (e.g. structure) until blizzard ends, start moving
towards next waypoint and remember where your shodow points to (compared to where
you looking at). Even if you get engaged by Ice Stallions and defeat them while still in
blizzard you will be able to keep on going without need of waiting for it to wear off. Just
beware of hills as they block light from casting a shadow.

The Sun shining in the North is very blinding. Because of this, you will not be able to see
anything in this direction even if the Blizzard has passed.
