Comparative Study

Roberto Jr Beltran

Introduction: My comparative study identifies and examines works of art from the beginning of the 1950s to
present and how it has evolved to change modern art forms. Andy Warhol was part of the pop art movement. I was
inspired by Warhol and the movement which asks us to reflect on art forms instead of always looking forward.
Andy Warhol and Hal Koenig, inspires us to recreate images and justify the meaning of those images to our natural
environment. Koenig influence to be inspired by places and object rather than people in his movement.

The Reconnecting Art Form

Pop is everything art hasn't been for the last two decades. It's
basically a U-turn back to a representational visual
communication, moving at a break-away speed...Pop is a
re-enlistment in the world...It is the American Dream,
optimistic, generous and nave."
"Ten-Foot Flowers (1967) by
Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol is trying to spread a message of an example of the

environment. He expresses his thoughts through his work about
the environment when he mentions U-turn on meaning his
vision about his surround that was once standing.
Marilyn Monroe(1969) by Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol
Warhol creation of his work to be influence and each piece of his work was to
be reduced when a fatal mistake occurs. His art was to be considered as
abstract when it comes to a piece he designs or subject. From well known art
piece he created, he became an award-winning illustrator from his
convenience to draw an image that corresponds to be existing. His ten foot
flower painting and other work took center stage of attention for creating
still-life painting which has been mostly recognized.

Warhol
Warhol explores more into culture to examine his work as a manipulation to
abstract his forms. They always say that time changes things, but you
actually have to change them yourself.(Andy Warhol) His words have
meaning to why our environment changes and throughout the years, there
are advance society change. We could reflect on his quote because
everything in our surroundings change by the actions which could affect the
environment as well. When he speaks to the public they show symbolism
that relates to decisions and actions.

Hal Koenig
Painter of urban landscapes, natural landscapes and
portraits, primarily in oil. From every perspective of the
town's beauty from within. It represents the beauty
without changing appearance so describing mother
nature's environment.

While painting for many years Koenig enjoyed visiting places and showing
areas to the people as creation through his point of view. He has adapted
his creations and explaining ways on taking his motion of his brush in
different movement to embrace the creation of each piece he desire to
explain in galleries.

The movement of Impressionism with cool colors shows
the meaning of the artist view point to the open world to
what extent as environmental. To analyse the creation he
has develop, the elements of the work to shows detailing
and quality. From the angle point he manage to manipulate
lighting to cast shadows off trees, snow, and hills to bring
contrast to give it a pop to the design. The choice of colors
such as layers of blue that is blended with white while

Ten-Foot Flowers (1967) by Andy Warhol

Workpiece such as the Ten-Foot Flowers was constructed as pop art with multiple
designs that leaves people questioning also how it can be similar to the Marilyn with
the color exaggeration. Warhol had been designing on his new interpretation of ads and
comic strips when he witnessed Roy Lichtensteins comic-strip paintings at Leo Castelli
Gallery.

The movement of Pop Art embraces,

such as color path and techniques of
contrast. The color of the work if it would
be in a black and white direction then
the whole art work would be affected
from its comparison to the local artist.
The detail has solid contrast movement
of color.

Koenig Had a fond of juxtaposition of nature in his urban
environment highlights. Milwaukee is belief a rich treasure
location while exploring and settling in the Bay view
community. Being inspired by nature itself is his primary
motivation to his work. A goal of his work is to convey a key
idea to sense of place while accommodating the realistic of
local subjects. Most of his paintings are explained as a
freestyle form that process to develop casual experience.

Andy Warhol, Marilyn Monroe, (1969)

Brightly colored images of Marilyn Monroe. The Marilyn canvases were
early experimentations of Warhols use of silkscreen printing, a method the
artist experimented with. Marilyn Monroe was a great woman whose charm
lives even after she has past. Though she featured in a million photographs
and a thousand portraits, one of the most celebrated works on her continues
to be the Andy Warhol series.

Warhol could easily replicate a print

effectively in a shorter period of time. It
also happened to be the time when
American beauty Marilyn Monroe
committed suicide in August 1962. As
Warhol was an admirer of the celebrities
and celebrity high-life, the two events
came together. And he thought that
there was no better way to pay a tribute
and make the icon of Monroe timeless,
on his canvas using his new silkscreen
technique.

While creating the Marilyn each portrait color has a value meaning based on her
personality and a experiment of how we can admire the mood of the color. One salient
feature of the Marilyn Monroe pop art series is the emphasis on makeup. The red,
slightly parted lips, white teeth, lustfully half-closed eyes under heavy mascara and the
conspicuous beauty spot on the cheek. Due to the two-dimensional representation of the
forehead, the hairdo appears unreal and detached. The dark shadows cast by
eyebrows, eyelashes, hair, nose and chin present a strong contrast to the otherwise
garish lurid colors. Some interpretations suggest Warhol was speaking about femininity
as a sex clich by creating an image at once feminine and unreal.

Marilyn Monroe vs. Ten-Foot Flowers

Creation from the two pieces of art are
distinct and could have a similar meaning of
why they could be in valid viewpoint. The
work he put in leaves us with many
question that changes a whole new
meaning of our society on why he chose
these objects and people. Warhol tries to
reach out to the world as if everything we
vision is a work of art which is why he
design the can of soup because it was
someones work of design and also used
Marilyn because as religion involves, god is
the creation of human art.

From the work The Marilyn Warhol brings out the beauty and creates shadows
manipulating with solid colors. The Ten-Foot Flowers symbolizes the meaning of
life.

Ten-Foot Flowers vs. Winter Skyline

Both pieces of art are rarely similar because the multiple detail or subjects that were used with a normal solid
background, also since they have their differences in color features they are both compare with an environmental
theme to the artist task. Both creations of the art works can justify meanings to each piece symbolism and explain why
the two artist show more about the environment meaning they care about the beauty perspective that happens in their
surroundings.

Marilyn Monroe vs. Winter Skyline

The two pieces have an similarity with both dimensions that makes you
admire the artwork. The time of each piece might of been different
eras but brings many theories to come to mind and been develop to be
create with meaning. These piece adjustify reason why they were
created and details connected with the artist to how they oppose to the
people that how it is position.

Culture Contexts: Local Artist

The artist reaches a more environmental background as a inspiration based on his other artworks that shows evidence briefly
explaining so he can justify how his surroundings impact himself as an artist. The theme of Hal Koenig is more describe of a
social definition while exploring to develop details on striving towards his meaning of art forms. His context of his techniques
was just simply admire his surroundings as a positive influence in his set of knowledge.

Warhol theme to his work is to spread his message to get around
such as advertisement and continue his motivation from other artist
that have the same movement or viewpoint. Print making using his
own resources with his choice of specific color strengthen his work,
manipulation of shadowing also solid colors improved his skill
throughout the years of his career. He strived to focus more on on
his textual techniques from his art forms.

Influence of Warhol- Self Portrait

I had thought to do a pop art to make it look like the Marilyn by Andy Warhol
because he makes the most inspiration in my work because the things he
does brings my interest after showing the work. When I analyse the work of
Warhol he explains in his work why the object, canvas, or person is so
important. In his inspiration what makes me move with his work is the color
and how he justify the color which is the most important thing he uses in the
work and takes the work to another level out of all the artist that were there
during the pop art era.

It's a big inspiration by the smooth solid colors that shows the meaning
behind the art piece so while creating the work I'll be using, acrylic paint
so it could examine the bright colors. Also I wanted to create the art piece
so I can justify and explain all the knowledge.

Process And Expectations

To evaluate parts of the work is to have a base color for the

background so I use bright colors and primary color before using
any dark because if you have solid dark then it would take the pop
out of the art work and so you'll need contrast for the movement.
