Lesson Plan

Grade VII TLE
I. Objectives:
In the process of lesson deliberation, with 80% accuracy, the students are
expected to:
a. define retailing through message relay;
b. cite and explain each classification of retail store according to the kind of
goods they carry using a schematic diagram;
c. compare and contrast consignment with repacking through a Venn diagram;
d. enumerate the functions of a retail store in a pageant-like presentation; and
e. identify stores according to the kind of goods they carry using flash cards.
II. Subject Matter:
A. Topic:
Retailing As An Entrepreneurial Activity

C. Materials: rolled papers, chalk, cartolina, adhesive tape, pentel pen, and
flash cards, strips
of manila paper
III.Procedure:
A. Introductory Activities:
A.1 Review:
The teacher will let her students recall their previous lesson by asking
these questions:
1.
What is entrepreneurship?
2.
What are the qualities of a good entrepreneur?
A.2 Motivation:
The teacher will conduct a message relay. The class will be divided into
five groups. Each group will be given strips of manila paper. Each group
are to form a line following the columns of the chairs. Each student in
front of the line are to draw rolled papers from a fish bowl. Each rolled
paper contains the message Retailing is the practice of selling goods
directly to the consumers. The message is to be relayed to the last
student of each line. The last student is to write the message in the given
manila paper strip. The group who writes the correct message in the
shortest period of time wins.
A.3 Presentation:
The teacher will let the students read the relayed message together. She
will then ask the students the following questions:
1. What are the classification of retail stores according to the kind of
goods they carry?
2. What are other forms of retailing?
3. What are the functions of a retail store?
The students answers will be collated in a guessing chart, specifically the
Guess column.
B. Developmental Activities:
The class will be divided into three. Each group will be given a task as
follows:
Task 1
- Cite and explain each classification of retail store according to
the kind of goods they carry using a schematic diagram.
Task 2
- Compare and contrast consignment with repacking through a
Venn diagram.
Task 3
- Enumerate the functions of a retail store in a pageant-like
presentation.

They will be given five minutes to prepare and three minutes each to present
their task.
C. Concluding Activities:
C.1 Reinforcement:
With the same groupings, the teacher will let the pupils classify the
stores as reflected in the flash cards as to the kind of goods they carry. They
will be given Manila paper strips for them to write their answer. There will be
five rounds so only five players are to represent each group. The group with
the most number of correct answers wins.
C.2 Generalization:
The teacher will now present the guessing chart once again so to fill in
the Fact column.
IV.

Evaluation:
1. Define retailing. (2 pts.)
2. Enumerate the three classifications of retail store according to the kind
of goods they carry. (3 pts.)
3. In what form of retailing may a trader leave the goods to another
trader for the other to sell on commission basis?
4. What form of retailing can goods that are brought at wholesale be
packed in smaller quantities for retail selling?
5. Classify the stores in the pictures according to the kind of goods they
carry. (3 pts.)
