HOW TO BYPASS BLOCKED INTERNET CONNECTION IN

UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS
For your information, the maximum capable speed of the internet connection in the Universiti Teknologi
PETRONAS is 400 MBPS which is equivalent to 400MBPS times by 0.125 and equals to 50MBPS downlink
speed. What does that means? The answer is the maximum capable of downloading speed from HTTP
request is 50MB per second. Does it looks awesome, doesnt it?
Alright. Enough talking. Now I go ahead to tell you how to bypass it.

First thing first

You need to have:
1. SSH server account
[ Do you have Virtual Private Server? If you do not have it, its okay. You can sign up for free
account from http://cjb.net. Sign up at Shell Account. Put your username, email address,
password and leave the last option by its default value which is bash. Activate your account by
email and youre good to go. ]

2. PuTTy SSH Client. Download it here http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty.exe.

[ PuTTy works as a client to connect to the SSH server. This software is able to tunnel or redirect
your connection in encrypted mode where the ISP provider, in this case, ITMS of UTP, cannot
intercept and decrypt the secured connection by encryption that youre creating. Cool right? ]

Connecting to your private server (cjb.net)

After you downloaded the PuTTY thing, copy the PuTTy.exe into your computer desktop. Now we are
going to configure the software.
1. Open PuTTy.exe. it should run without any need to install. Standalone self-extraction binary
compiled source code for the detailed name. :3

Put your username@shell.cjb.net
And set to port 443.
*replace username with your chosen
username

Please save your configuration and

put whatsoever name you desire if
you want to use it in the future.

2. You can see on the category [2] tree, there is SSH tab [3]. Click the SSH tab and expand it. There
should be Tunnels tab and click on the Tunnels tab.

3. On the Tunnels section, set the Source port to 443. Then select Dynamic and Auto on the radio
setting. Remember to set localhost on the Destination. Finally, click Add. After finished, click the
Open button.

4. Now, a command prompt should open. Key in your password and hit Enter. Now, youre
connected to the outer server.

Configure the proxy setting of your computer

1.
On your computer, click Start > Control panel >
Network and Internet Connection > Internet Option.
2.
On the Internet Option, head to Connections
tab. Click on LAN Setting. Deselect Automatically
detect settings. Select Use a proxy server for your
LAN and click also the Bypass proxy server for local
addresses. Then, click Advanced button.

3. On the Socks row, enter localhost at the Proxy address and 443 at the Port. Click OK. And youre
ready to open blocked sites as you wish.
