Abstract
This paper is about new business creation idea named TripOgrapher. This business is also
implemented which is providing customized domestic and international trips to the people of
south Punjab. Our target market is students and different institutions who want to travel different
areas of Pakistan and other countries. Data was collected through questionnaires by which it was
analyzed either people will like to arrange their visits by using services of tourism company or
individually.

Introduction:
The Project is about a tour and trips company which is providing the facility for everyone
to customize their own trips. World is full of beauty and the natural sceneries and
especially Pakistan has great standing in this sector of natural beauty. Our motto is to
explore the world especially Pakistan. Initially at our selected destinations of the world
we are having the plan to provide best services for our respectful customers. There are
different categories of tourism for our customers like family trips, educational trips,
adventurous trips and official trips etc. while we were analyzing the market we have seen
that in Multan there are only 2 to 3 companies which are providing the facilities for tours
but have not promoted their services well in the market. The companies which are even
present here are not covering the full segments of market. So we have found the
opportunity and create a company with unique features for our customers. We believe in

innovation and customer satisfaction through innovative ideas and services. In the light of
branding there is not a single company in this region who is focusing on brand their
services. So we are coming with innovative ideas and unique services. For international
destinations we have initially selected UAE, Malaysia, Singapore and China for our
customers.

Introduction to Tourism Sector:

Tourism is very important sector for the world economy. Many economies are standing
on the basis of tourism. Tourism increases the wealth of the country and it also helps in
increasing the GDP of the country. Tourism is popular since the start of the world but
with the passage of time its importance starts increasing specially the 20th Century was
the most remarkable time for tourism industry. The economies start developing on this
industry in 20th Century and its importance is increasing day by day. According to the
World Tourism Organization number of international arrivals in 1950 was 25 Million
[Error! Reference source not found.]. It goes on increasing and in 2005 it reaches to
806 Million international arrivals with an average growth rate of 6.5% annually. During
this period the strongest development was in Asia and Pacific with an average growth
rate of 13% annually.

Tourism in Pakistan:
Pakistan Tourism gets most popularity and success during 1970s when huge amount of
revenue is generated through foreign tourist. The choice of tourists is Khyber Pass,
Peshawar, Karachi, Lahore, Swat and Rawalpindi. After one year of Kashmir earthquake
the five top five tourist sites in Pakistan help the country tourist industry. These tourist
sites are Taxila, Lahore, Karakoram Highway, Lake Saiful Muluk and Karimabadand.
For promotion Pakistan tourist industry in 2007 the prime minister launch Visit
Pakistan campaign, this campaign include different fairs, cultural, religious events.
Pakistan ranked as one of the top 25 percent tourist favorite destination according to
World Economic Forums Travel and tourism competitiveness report by 2009.

Tourism in UAE
Dubai is the most populous city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the
second largest emirate by territorial size after the capital, Abu Dhabi.
Dubai is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf and is one of the seven
emirates that make up the country. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are the only two emirates to
have veto power over critical matters of national importance in the country's legislature.
The city of Dubai is located on the emirate's northern coastline and heads up the DubaiSharjah-Ajman metropolitan area. The main Places to visit in Dubai are Burj Khaleefa,
The Dubai Fountain, Wild Wadi Water Park, Deira Clock Tower, Palm Islands, Dubai

Objectives:
The objective of the pre-feasibility study is primarily to facilitate potential entrepreneurs
in project identification for investment. The project pre-feasibility may form the basis of
an important investment decision and in order to serve this objective, the document/study
covers various aspects of project concept development, start-up, and production, finance
and business management.

Literature Review:
Tourism is now increasing due to changing in the infrastructure and roads development.
According to World Economic Forums travel and tourism competitiveness report of 2008
Pakistan ranked at 103 out of 124 countries selected for tourism, this is because of poor
infrastructure, law and order situation and less branding or marketing of beautiful places
of Pakistan.

After development of roads its become easier and safe to visit places. Pakistan is home
of diverse culture and full of heritage. Every province shows its unique heritage and
values that attract more people to see such diversity in a single country. Local people
belonging to rushy cities usually spend their summer holidays on hill stations areas like
Murree and northern areas. These areas are having nice weather and are full of nature.
People those are fond of hiking are more attracted towards hill stations and mountains
areas [Error! Reference source not found.].
Pakistan ranked as one of the top 25 percent tourist favorite destination according to
World Economic Forums Travel and tourism competitiveness report by 2009. During the
year of 2010 from January to October about 900,000 foreigners visit Pakistan as tourists.
The potential of tourism is increasing despite the fact or terrorism. During the period of
July 2009 to May 2010 the foreign currency of about $253 million was brought by the
tourists. (Dawn News).
Tourism reduces unemployment and become a resource of generating revenue. Because
tourist booked hotels, buses and do shopping as well. It is estimated that more than half
of the revenue or income earned by the people associated with tourism service (Jang
business magazine). The areas include for tourism are Murree, Northern Areas, Ziarat,
Abbottabad and Narran [Error! Reference source not found.].

are initially focusing on only Multan region. These segments are very

attractive for profit maximization at this south Punjab Region.

Market Research:
We have developed an online questionnaire (Google forms) by which we have collected
the data that is necessary for pre-feasibility of the project. After the analysis of collected
data we have conclude that people of south Punjab encourage tourism companies who
can arrange trips for them. The main reason for that is the cost, travel guide and hassle
free trip.

Marketing Strategies:
For marketing strategies, we will first look at our marketing Mix:
Product:
In product strategy we are focusing on Demographic and Behavioral segment. As we
have service organization so we are focusing on service line extension in comparison
with the other companies working in this region. We are offering different service ranges:
Family trips
Educational trips

Adventurous trips
Training trips
Honeymoon trips
Occasional trips
In every segment we are providing a fun to our customers. Main purpose for introducing
these segments is to provide the facilities according to the customers need. When it
comes to the family trips, people need privacy and want to go on personal conveyance or
any mode of personal transport without involvement of any person. So for this we will
provide them the facilities in this way. Our core business value is customization. These
people need good accommodation and need suitable food. When it comes to the
Educational trips, they are in a group and they prefer to go on bus. And they do not need
privacy rather they involve all the students in every activity. So, they need places to have
fun in a large group. They have some rules for students which are necessary to follow so
we have to arrange the things like that. When it comes to adventure trips, people want
adventure at every stage. They do not have luxurious demands rather they want to
explore things and they want adventure at every stage. So for these people we need to
create adventure in our whole trip rather to provide a luxury accommodation or luxury
food. In a training trip category we need place and the environment that is good for
training. For training we will be providing good accommodation and food that can
enhance the training purpose. When it comes to Occasional trips we need to do specific
arrangements for the festivals in different regions.
Customers:
Our target market is initially and more focused is the students of different institutions
who want to travel to different areas of Pakistan. Average monthly family income for our
target market is above 45,000. They are our key customers and we are focusing to
develop different strategies attract them. These strategies will be further explained in
promotional strategies section. Moreover the family income is same for our target market
but we are further categorizing them on the basis of behavior. The people who are of
adventure nature and they want to do every adventure activity, we have different plans

for them according to their behavior. Furthermore, we have another category of family
trips in which we are focusing on the people who want to travel with their family. Our
customers are both male and female. We have special separate accommodation
arrangements for females and we have a female staff that is coordinating with the female
customers to fulfill their needs during the whole trip.
Distribution Channels:
We are operating our business completely by ourselves and there is no other distribution
channel except our own channels. But as we are using the facility of accommodation,
food and transport from our outside supplier so they are fully involved in our processes.
In a transport section we hire buses which are providing transport facility to our
customers. We are ensuring by our complete check report that these buses should be
according to our standard of service. When it comes to accommodation and food, we
have a contract with hotels which are providing the limited customized facilities to our
customers. In a family trips we are not directly delivering the service rather the hotel staff
is providing all facilities but we are continuously ensuring the quality of service as we
have our 1 employee at the back who is checking all the quality standards and also we
have given the facility of complain number on which our customer complain us about any
issue and will are there for them to solve that issue according to the need and standard of
our service.
Location:
Location is not very important in this business because it works as direct marketing and
on phone contacts. But physical location can plays an important role in creating trust
among customers. While analyzing our competitors we have analyzed that our
competitors are not having physical locations in Multan. Some of the people are having
location but their core business is not the tourism rather they are travel agents and
promoting their travel agent business and they have added this feature to gain competitive
edge. So we decided to open our physical location for especially of this tourism company.
For this we have decided the location of Bosan Road Business city plaza which is
approachable for all the people around the city. Another reason for this location is the

10

easy access of our main target market that is students. Gulgasht is the hub of Education
so we can attract people at this place. Customers can easily approach us at our location.
This plaza is having enough parking place which eliminate the parking problem for our
customers. Our shop is well designed according to the services we are providing. We
have placed the pictures of our last trips and also we have placed the kits that are needed
during different trips. Like for adventurous segment we have placed safety kits for
swimming like life jackets. And also we have placed travelling bags that are needed for
travelling for adventurous trips. We have placed all the required material regarding our
services, pricing, terms and conditions and all the other related material in our office. In
office we are having 2 tables and 4 chairs with 2 sofas. The office is fully Air conditioned
according to the weather of the Multan city, so our customer feel relax while visit our
office. We offer drinks to our customers so that the feel comfortable to talk with us.
Price:
Pricing is a key element in any product or service offering. We are focusing on dynamic
pricing according to our segments. For families we are charging high prices with added
features in services and offerings. We are providing them luxury accommodation, luxury
food and transport. We are also ensuring that the places we visited them are creating a
wonderful impact on the service quality. They do not need to worry of anything during
the complete tour. We are giving them fully relax and enjoyable trips with family.
Moreover when we move to the educational segment we will charge low prices because
students cannot afford high prices. They only need to visit beautiful places and they have
fun with their fellow mates. Mostly they need enjoyment and they compromise on
accommodation, food and transport. We are earning from this segment as their trips are
having large number of people so the profit margin remains good in a single trip.
Promotion:
For promotional strategy we are focusing on word of mouth because service sector is all
about the experience. The people who are satisfied with our services will definitely
spread positive word of mouth for our company. Moreover we are focusing on social
media campaigns like promoting our tours on Facebook. For promotion we are also using

11

our website as well. Furthermore we are also promoting our tours with leaflets, Panaflex;
standees etc. [Figure 1 and 2]. Mobile marketing is one of the cheapest marketing tools
that we are using for the promotion of our services. Personal selling is also the major
focus for our company service selling.
Advertisement:
Advertisement of any brand is very important to be remaining in the market because if
we do not advertise our brand, people will forget about us. In tourism sector there is
number of small companies working in Multan and South Punjab but they are not
advertising their tours as it should be, this is the reason why people are less aware about
these companies. With this market gap, we are highly focusing on advertisements. We are
mainly targeting our customers through social media because in initial phase we need to
reduce our cost and by using social media we can reach to maximum number of people a
very little cost. We can interact with our audience as well through social media. We have
developed advertisements for our brand which we are playing on social media like
Facebook. These advertisements are creating urge in our customers to explore Pakistan
and the entire world. We are focusing on the natural beauty of Pakistan in our
advertisements.
Public relations:
Another promotional tool that we utilized is public relations. The main purpose of public
relations is that it helps to build a positive public image for a company, supports service
extension, helps a company to evaluate public attitudes and communicates the overall
goals of the company. We have a plan to spend 5% of sales to local charity programs. In
addition, we are having a public relation manager to handle any negative issues in the
market.
Sales promotion:
In a sales promotion strategy we are giving special discounts to our regular customers.
The people who use our services regularly they will enjoy 15% on every trip. A special
discount is here for the large group of people who are using our services like, 1 person

12

free trip on every 23 people. Special discount of 20% is for Air university trips to
promote the tourism in Air University. Occasional sales promotions will be launched
according to the need of the time.
Personal selling:
Personal selling is another important tool for our company. Personal selling is having the
major part in our promotional campaigns because we are focusing for permanent
customers that will profitable for us like educational institutes and offices. We will
provide them customized tour according to their needs. We have an employee who is
subjected to do personal selling. His duty is to meet new customers and sign a contract
with them. Listening all the queries of our customers and discuss with us of needed to
satisfy them in a best possible way.
Direct selling:
For direct selling we are using social media. By using social media we can contact with
people and we can easily interact there with them. This is also helping us in the way that
the people who have already used our services and they are satisfied, they are giving their
reviews which is creating a positive impact on audience to use our services.
Physical Environment:
As our company is of tourism (service) company so our full focus is on physical
environment. Places that we are offering to our customers, transport facility,
accommodation facility, Equipments for adventure etc. are the source of physical
environment. These all physical aspects of our services are according to the demand of
our customers which are satisfying them with full enjoyment on our enjoyable tours.
People:
People element in service sector is much important than in tangible products sector. We
are focusing on the best and specialized team for our company. Our strategy is to give a
relaxing environment to our employees. We treat our employees as a family. We do not
have any employee rather we have a wonderful and specialized family of TripOgrapher.

13

Conclusion:
By analyzing the results of the questionnaire we have come to the point people like to
arrange their trips by using tourism companies.

Domestic Tour:
We have arranged a Pilot trip to understand the actual processes involve in the tourism
project. We have planned to move with 15-20 people with us from the students of Air
University Multan Campus. We have started advertising of the trip 2 weeks before the
departure date. We have done direct personal marketing; we have used standees,
brochures and Facebook page. We have announced the places with the total price of PKR
8,000/- Per Person. People were start motivating for trip. At last we have collected the
payments of 45 students and we have arranged two small busses for our trip. And the day
has come and we were all gathered in the Air University Multan Campus for departure.
Before that time we were expecting that some students will join us at the time of
departure so we have arranged 9 extra seats but at the time of departure 13 students were
there who want to go with us. At that time we have planned to arrange a small car with us
for those 4 extra students and we have contact to the guest house in Islamabad and
Murree for extra room. We have arranged and then we have started our journey. In Friday
morning we have reached at Islamabad guest house. We have arranged rooms for
students but the things went wrong and the rooms were not available as booked before.
At that situation we have arranged another guest house nearby that one and transfer some
students to that place. The girls and female teacher was adjusted at the same guest house
and all the boys were at the other guest house. We have given some time to all of the
students to get ready for our next destination Khanpur Dam. In a mean while we have
served the breakfast to all the students. After 2 hours everyone was ready to move. We
have left for Khanpur Dam and after a long drive at last we reached there. At that place
we have arranged the Jet boats individually for everyone. At that place we have done a
well photography of each and every student through our professional photographer. After
that we have rented the boat and we have moved to the other side of the river for cliff
diving. We have provided life jackets to everyone who wants to dive from the cliff.

14

Students have enjoyed a lot at that place and they were of the view that they have never
enjoyed such a wonderful experience of adventure. Due to very hot weather some female
students faced some problem but we have arranged a temporary shade for them which
was although not enough but better than previous situation. We have served food boxes at
that place and everyone has enjoyed the food according to its need. After a lot of
enjoyment finally we have left for guest house. Some students were so tired and they
wanted to take rest but others were excited to visit Centaurus Mall. We have left for the
mall. After a lot of enjoyment over there we came back and start fixing issues regarding
rooms that students were facing. In the meanwhile one of us has gone to arrange for
dinner. We have planned for fast-food but our customers wanted to have desi food so, we
have arranged the dinner according to our customers need. We have served the meal and
then everyone has gone to sleep. In the next morning we have served a breakfast in
everyones room and request to everyone to get ready within an hour. Everyone got ready
on time and we have checked out from guest house and we have moved to Neela Sandh.
After a long journey at last we reached to Neela Sandh. There we have arranged a
separate arrangement for girls for diving and swimming. Everyone start enjoying the
place. We have served local pakora to everyone which has twisted the enjoyment of
Neela Sandh. After a lot fun and enjoyment we left for Murree. In night we reached
Murree hotel and allotted rooms to everyone. Everyone was tired and gone for the rest
and one of us has gone for arranging dinner. After 2 hours we woke up everyone for
dinner and we moved to Mall Road for dinner. At that place we have serious issue about
food quality and quantity. The hotel management have delayed the food as promised
before that has created very negative impact but after long struggle we have served food
but we have opened the choice for everyone how much and whatever they want to eat.
Some students were very tired and they were in the guest house. We have provided them
dinner in their rooms. After meal students have enjoyed the Murree weather and enjoyed
on the Mall Road. After that everyone back to hotel and go to the room for rest. In the
very next morning we have arranged a breakfast for everyone and served them
collectively in the hall. After breakfast everyone got fresh and after discussion with
students according to their demand we have moved to Patriata for Chair Lifts and Cable

15

Cars. As we reached there, we have gone for arranging tickets and all the students were
coming towards lifts. When they reached at that place, we have delivered tickets and
settled them in line. After 1.5 hours we have reached to Chair Lifts and started moving. It
was an enjoyable moment for everyone. We have a professional photographer who had
taken pictures of every student which was latter delivered to everyone and was placed on
a Panaflex in University Hall. After Chair Lifts we moved towards Cable Cars. In the
meanwhile one of us has moved to arrange a lunch. As we came back from Lifts we have
moved toward the hilly side for lunch. It was well arranged this time because we have
learned from the last dinner. Everyone got very happy after that lunch. That was
wonderful place under beautiful trees in a wonderful weather. After a lot of enjoyment
and photo-shoots we have finally moved towards Multan. During our journey at every
stage we have enjoyed in buses as well. After arrival at Multan, on the next day we have
asked for feedback from our customers on a pre-designed feedback form. Everyone
submitted their responses and we have noticed that 95% people were saying that they
have enjoyed a lot and they will definitely want to avail the TripOgrapher services again.

International Tour:
A pilot trip to Dubai was arranged back in December in which five participants were
taken to the tour of whole UAE. We received the payments by our customers in advance.
We collected their passports and sent scanned copies to UAE in our partner company
ABA Tourism and they sent us back the online visa invitation of the participants. Visa
was of one month and the participants wanted to enjoy new year celebrations in Dubai.
We made a road map of the places to visit, and the hotels to stay.
Next step was buying flight tickets. We bought tickets of Fly Dubai airline as it was
cheaper comparing to other airlines. On the departure day, Participants were called to our
office first. They were asked to sign affidavit before leaving. When we landed in Dubai, a
seven seats car was waiting to receive us already at the airport which was sent by ABA
Tourism for us. We checked in to the President Hotel, Dubai where we had a stay of two
days. While stay was at a hotel in Dubai, we had a car for 24/7 along with a driver. We

16

visited the places At the Top, Burj Khaleefa, Global Village, Desert Safari Ride, Wild
Waadi park, The Dubai Mall, Mall of Emirates and many other places in Dubai for three
days. Two days stay was at President Hotel Dubai and one day stay was at a flat which
was rented for us by Partner Company. After that we had a stay of two days in Sharjah
near to the State Mosque. We had a flat over there rented for us.
In Sharjah we visited the Gold Souk market, Sharjah Fish Aquarium, Shopping Malls etc.
After that we travelled to Abu Dhabi where we had one day stay at Ghantoot apartments.
We visited the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi mall, and the Ferrari World
where the participants drove Ferrari cars as well. For our last one day stay, we firstly
visited Ajman city and its clubs, and then we travelled to Fujirah city where we visited
beaches and malls. That night we stayed in Dubai in flat and the next morning we had a
flight back to Pakistan. Overall experience of the tour was very good. Participants were
quite happy and shared their experience of traveling with TripOgrapher as one of the best
experiences in life up till now. Also they expressed their wish to visit with us in future as
well. Loopholes were also there in the tour which included lack of medical equipment
with us, not know how of the proper laws to be followed which caused us fine as well.
The record of each participant is well maintained in files in my office. I am just attaching
some of the pictures of the cars we are offering there for convince and the major
company with which we are operating.
