Virac LGU, SSS ink MOA for social security coverage of job order
personnel
VIRAC, Catanduanes, Aug. 14, (PIA) -- The municipal government here and Social
Security System (SSS) provincial office in Catanduanes recently signed the
Memorandum of Agreement for social security coverage of job order personnel
under the Self-Employed Program.
According to Divina T. Avila, SSS Virac branch head, the program aims to give
protection to job order personnel who are employed in job order status by the local
government but not coverable under the GSIS Law.
The measure is backed by a Social Security Commission (SSC) Resolution No. 511s.2013 approved on July 5, 2013.
Avila explained that as self-employed members, job order personnel are protected
against the hazards of disability, sickness, maternity, old age and death and other
contingencies that the SSS offers.
Some 104 job order employees of LGU Virac will be covered by said program.
She added that the activity sealed the commitment of both government agencies
for the effective and continued implementation of the MOA.
On the other hand, Virac Mayor Flerida Alberto said that she is committed to give
full support to this program for the benefit of all job order personnel.
Virac Councilor Alipio Abundo further authored Municipal Resolution no. 2014-02-45
(a) providing authority Mayor Flerida A. Alberto to enter Into MOA With SSS Virac
branch relative to the expanded self-employed coverage of all employees on job
order of the LGU Virac.
Under the MOA, the local government of Virac has the authority to withheld and
remit SSS contributions of all its job personnel.
Hon. Alipio Abundo, SSS employees, LGU Virac employees and job order contractual
