JDK environment should be installed (version should be from Java 1.4 family Equal to
or higher then JAVA 1.4.2_11 but not higher then 1.4.2_13) Ref. Note 716604

Set Java home variable
Set Oracle home and Oracle SID variable
SWAP Space 3 to 4 * RAM
Execute memlimits to verify paging space size and kernel settings as follows:
1. To unpack the file memlimits, enter the following commands:
a) cd <INSTDIR>
b) <DVD-DIR>/K0<x>/UNIX/<OS>/SAPCAR xvfg \
c) <DVD-DIR>/K0<x>/UNIX/<OS>/SAPEXE.SAR memlimits
2. Start memlimits as follows:
./memlimits -l 20000
If you see error messages, increase the paging space and rerun memlimits until there
are no more errors.
SAP Installation files (DVDs) to be available and mounted before starting Installation:
1. SAP Installation master (ZIP 51032955_10 SOLMAN40 SR3 Installation Master).
2. JAVA Component Currently we have 5 files for JAVA; after extraction we will get a
single file which will be used in installation.
3. JAVA Cryptographic policy file It needs to be downloaded from SUN Microsystems
website http://java.sun.com/products/jce/
4. SAP Installation Export - Currently we have 4 files for Export; after extraction we will get a
single file which will be used in installation.
5. SAP Unicode Kernel
6. Oracle client Will be installed by SAPinst during SAP installation.
7. SAP License Keys and License Audit ( needs to be downloaded)
8. SAP presentation CD (needs to be downloaded).
# Note - All of the above Files\DVDs need to be extracted to individual directories and mounted
Except JAVA policy file.

Oracle Installation
Step 1: Execute Oracle installer
Step 4: As Oracle database will be created by SAP installer during SAP installation; select
install database software only option and click next
Step 5: You will get the summary of the products which will be installed; verify and click Install
Step 7: You will see the below screen once the Oracle Installtion is complete
Step 2: Select the home directory of your oracle installtion and click next
Step 3: Oracle Installer shows the summary of the installed products that will be affected by the
patch; click Install
Step 4: Below screen shows the progress of the Patch Installtion activities
Step 5: Execute the root.sh script as suggested in the screen below and click OK

/usr/sap/DSM/install

Step 2: Execute sapinst from Installation master CD
Step 3: In the SAPinst window expand SAP Solution Manager 4.0 Support Release 3
Step 4: From the drop down select SAP Solution Manager 4.0 Support Release 3>SAP
Systems>Oracle>Central System>Central System Installation and click next.
Step 7: In next screen we need to provide path for JAVA component CD; click Next
Step 8: In the below screen provide the path for directory where JDK is installed and click Next
Step 9: Provide the path for JCE policy file and click Next.
Step 10: Enter the system ID for the new SAP system to be installed and the path of the
directory
where SAP software will be installed.
Step 11: Provide a master password for all the SAP users that will be created during Installation
Step 12: Enter the SID for the new database and host on which it should be installed.
Step 13: After the above step SAPInst will check if the system meets all the prerequisites for
installation
Step 14: You may get some wranings you can ignore them and click on Cancel to continue with
the installation.
Step 15: In the below screen provide the path for Export 1 CD and click OK
Step 16: In the below screen provide the path for Export 4 CD and click OK
Step 17: In the below screen provide the path for Kernel and Oracle client CD and click OK
Step 18: As there is already a SLD in ADSK landscape; choose option Register in existing
central SLD (default) and click Next.
Step 19: Enter the existing SLD details in the below screen and click Next
Step 20: The next screen shows you the summary of all the parameter values enetered; verify
and change values if required. If all the parameters are fine.Click Start to trigger the installation.
Cause: After checking the logs reason for the error was insufficient privileges on /usr/sap and
JDK directory.
Step 21: Installation stops at the step of Oracle installation and prompts to install oracle
software. As we already installed Oracle software at start; click on OK to proceed
