Strengths of the Software: This website is great for students because it has fast paced learning
videos. The students are able to take a quiz and get results right away. The students can play
games over the material just learned from the video. The students can create a map, pulling and
placing images in the map of the material just learned. Teachers can create lesson plans or pull
worksheets from the material pertaining to the video.
Suggestions for Improvement: The website does not offer games for every video watched.
However, it will offer videos that pertain to that specific subject which isnt always helpful.
Standards Addressed: S3L2. Students will recognize the effects of pollution and humans on the
environment.
a. Explain the effects of pollution (such as littering) to the habitats of plants and animals.
b. Identify ways to protect the environment. Conservation of resources Recycling of materials

Description of how to implement in the class: I will briefly introduce conserving energy and
recycling in an open class discussion by asking the students to talk with a partner about what they
are. We will then talk as a class about what both topics are. I will then introduce the BrainPop
videos. The equipment needed for this lesson will be a computer, projector, smartboard and sound
to display the video. After watching the video, the students will each get a laptop and complete the
quizzes for a grade. They will show me the first quiz grade they receive and will have one
opportunity to improve their grade. After they complete both quizzes they will choose one topic
and complete a map using BrainPop. They will be able to pull videos/images from BrainPop to
create their map and they will be able to collaborate with other students while creating their maps.
After they are done they will be able to present these to the class using the smartbaord. In this
lesson will reach a Loti level 3 by having the students collaborating with each other and then
sharing the maps with their classmates.
