AGREEMENTS
Right to information, also referred to as freedom of information or access to information, establishes a
general presumption that all information held by government should be accessible to the public and
governments should establish mechanisms by which information should be accessed. Kenya and the rest
of the East African have progressively enshrined this principle in their laws. Extractives Baraza, in its
attempt to ensure greater access to information, is currently tracking and sharing agreements signed
between investors and governments. It is anticipated that this effort will incentivize participation in the
extractives industry from an informed position.
