To Whom it May Concern, I am writing to provide the strongest possible recommendation for Josh Sethi. I have taught Josh both English and Chemistry at Gravenhurst High School. I have been consistently impressed with the quality of his work and more importantly the effort and care that he puts into everything he does. I first had the pleasure of teaching Josh last year in my Grade 11 English class. At the time I didnt know him, but I was immediately struck by his commitment to learning and to creating the best possible product for each assignment. Josh was the rare sort of student who would have his essay planned and even written well ahead of time. He would come to me and others looking for ideas and feedback. In the rewriting process where so many students are looking to fix typos or quickly reword sentences Josh is genuinely invested in revising and improving his work on the structural level. As an English teacher, it is a real privilege to work with a student who really puts in the time and effort to become the best writer they can be. Additionally, Josh always had ideas and insights to add to our discussions about the books we were reading. He was a very strong English student all around. This year, I have been fortunate enough to teach Josh a second time, this time in a very different area of the school: a chemistry class. Even though this is a different style of learning and a different type of work, Josh has shown the same dedication and enthusiasm for learning. Despite having one of the top grades in the class, Josh always wants to do better. There isnt a practice question he hasnt tried, or an assignment that he hasnt gone through with a fine tooth comb. During class or after school, Josh often brings me questions to help clarify of expand on course concepts. He also engages with his peers in productive conversations about the course material. In fact, Josh is nothing short of the type of student that we all dream of and go into this business hoping to teach: someone who is sharply intelligent, eager to learn, and ready to work. Josh has added so much to my classroom these last two years: intelligent questions, insightful comments, and a damn good sense of humour. I am confident that he will bring these things to you as well, and you will be glad to know him. Teaching Josh has been a great privilege, and I cannot recommend him strongly enough. If you have any further questions, dont hesitate to contact me at the phone number of e-mail address below. I would be only too happy to discuss one of the most engaging and hard-working students I have had the pleasure of teaching. Yours Sincerely Earl Sacrey 705-687-2283 ext 700 earl.sacrey@tldsb.on.ca
