Ryan uploaded notes and problem sets on lines to their Pre-Calc teacher. They grappled most with learning to formulate the general linear equation from two points on a graph. They used the habit of being confident, patient, and persistent as a mathematician in working through problems, even when content was a review or new, which helped them complete their work.

Beautiful Notes and Problem Set
What did you grapple with? I grappled especially with learning how to formulate the General Linear Equation, where the equation Ax + By = C equals the graphing of a line. As I worked through these problems, I gradually got a sense for, given two points on a graph, which x/y values would fall with the A and B coefficients and how they could equal C. I still think I could use some additional practice with deriving this equation and investigating how to graph it, but I learned through this problem set that it can be transformed into the much commonly-known y = mx + b form, a tactic that can surely help me in the future when I attempt more of these types of problems. What habit of a mathematician did you use and why? Throughout this exploration, I was able to use the habit of a mathematician Be Confident, Patient, and Persistent. Though a lot of this content was review, some of it was new and I knew that in order to successfully solve these problems and get something out of this experience, I had to keep a positive mentality. I refused to get frustrated, even if I thought I should have known something that I didnt quite know. That really helped me move through the process and complete all of my work in a timely manner. Below is all of my work, which includes the notes, Quick Review 1.1, and Section 1.1 for the Lines chapter.
