This was the last day of our duty as an afternoon shift at the clinic and
our last duty for the year 2015. It is unexpected that we are toxic because it
is afternoon still the patients are piled up. But by the guidance of our clinical
instructor we are able to do our individual task smoothly and by the
teamwork of the group.
It is not that toxic on our second day as morning shift; unlike yesterday
the patients are less than 10 so we have ample time to read for the posters
and reading materials available on the MCGH-well baby clinic. Also we
lecture, discuss and refresh our knowledge on immunization since tomorrow
is Wednesday and we expect a lot of babies to have their vaccination.
Last day of our rotation on the MCGH-well baby clinic, by this time we
are all oriented on this area on the work and know the daily routine activities
on the clinic. We are all feeling sad because Maam Gina who is the Midwife
staff on duty was very kind to us and it is a shame that the time has come to
say goodbye. Nevertheless, we are equipped by the knowledge from all the
things that we learn on this area with the outmost aid by our beloved clinical
instructor Maam Lou Bautista.
We are all excited since this is the first day of our duty at the Pedia
ward. We also met our new clinical instructor for the area who is none other
than Maam Edith. Beforehand, our classmates (group 5) endorsed to us the
patients that we are going to handle by the time that we arrive since we are
the pm shift (2pm-8pm). Maam Edith orients us on the organizational chart
of the hospital and also discussed the case study format and presentation.
She also guided each and every one of us on our individual room-in patient
assignment. Some of our patients are q4 vital signs monitoring while some
cases need q2 monitoring.

Today is the second day of our pm shift at the pedia ward. Two of us
are assigned at the 3rd left and the other 3 students are on the 2 nd left since
there are new admitted patients there. As part of our duty, we monitor the
vital signs evry 4 hours of the assigned patient to us and plot it on their
chart. We also review their chart and the progress notes , laboratory results
of the patient. We had a patient who is only 3 months old who had CMPA and
its impact to me and my groupmates the importance of breastmilk as a
protection on certain diseases of the newborn.
We are toxic today since we had patients who are on close monitoring
of vital signs, some are every 30 minutes while others are every 2 hours. I
also experienced a patients mother who refused to have her child taken of
vital signs since it always cry just by the sight of person who is on white
uniform. I immediately report this to my clinical instructor whom reports it to
the staff nurses on duty in the nurse station. But all in all, we successfully
carried out our individual duties.

Today was the first day of our morning shift. We are able to get our
individual case for study and for case presentation purposes. We are able to
interview each patient prior to the history taking. My case was very good
since it is a rare case which is 14 years old who diagnosed of Hepatitis A and
I was looking forward to make this case.

Usapang Kuntento na and Pwede pa. The people in the community welcome
us and happily said yes to our invitation. We also did the polishing of our plan
for the next week event and divide task for each and everyone in the group.
On this day, we had our first USAPAN series which is Usapang Kuntento
na/Pwede pa. At first, we are nervous because the calltime is 1pm and its
already 1:30 pm but there are still no participants. Not long after, we will
relieve when one by one the participants came. The vent was successful in
the end though there are a lot of changes from the original plan. Also were
thankful for the support of the staff and actively participation of the
participants.
This is or last day for the USAPAN series which is Usapang Maginoo. It
is composed where men are the participants and the discussion is about the
new maginoo and Family Planning. At first they are shy but then as time
goes by, they are lively and actively participated in eavh topic. They raised
their question which was answered by the facilitator. We are guided in every
activity by our clinical instructor Maam Sta.Maria and aided us for the
successful of the said event.
We are earlier than usual since it we are able to come and have the
opportunity to be part of Mandaluyong celebration for the Womes Month. It
was held at the DOH NCR Mandaluyong and we are able to assist and on
hand of Pap smear. Our clinical instructor divides us for individual task and
rotates us every now and then. We are able to do the procedure first hand by
the aid and guide of different Midwives present from the different health
center in Mandaluyong. It was indeed a fruitful and very productive for me
and my groupmantes.
