CHAPTER III

RESEARCH DESIGN
This chapter presents the method of research used, the sources of data,
the data gathering instrument, the data gathering procedure and the statistical
treatment of data.
Methods of Research
To accomplish the objectives of this study, the descriptive and survey
methods will be used in conducting the research. Descriptive method of research
is where the researcher doing the study presents it in a descriptive manner to
identify a certain problem or phenomena. The descriptive research designs
enable researchers to describe or present the picture of a phenomenon or
phenomena under investigation. According to Johnson and Christensen (2012),
descriptive research focused mainly on providing an accurate description or
picture of the status or characteristics of a situation or phenomena.
The descriptive research will be used to assess the organizational values
and stakeholders engagement towards developing a school development
agenda of Taytay United Methodist Christian School, Inc. Further, relationship
between the organizational values and stakeholders enagement will be given
focused.

Sources of Data
The main sources of data are the __ teachers and __ school heads of
Taytay United Methodist Christian School, Inc.
The respondents were selected through a total population which are
presented in Table 1.

The data on the table shows that there were ___ teacher respondents with
__ percent while there were __ school administrators with ___ percentage. A total
of __ shall be taken as respondents of the study in their entire or total population.
Data Gathering Instrument
The main instrument to be used in the study is the survey questionnaire
and school data. The questionnaire consists of query that will help assess
organizational values in terms of administrative plans and implementations,
student services execution, facilities and resources, and human resources
development as included in the part 1 of the instrument. On the other hand,
evaluation on stakeholders engagement is on part 2 of the instrument containing
questions on school status or accreditation, student improvement, resources
capability building, and administrative operations.

The questionnaire was developed by the researcher and to be reviewed


by her adviser. The designed questionnaire will be validated by pool of experts
composed of five principals and 5 teachers in Marikina, a nearby city from Pasig.
The comments, suggestions and corrections to be provided by the validators will
help in improving the contents in making the final copy of the questionnaire.

Data Gathering Procedure


Following the final printing of the questionnaire, the researcher will seek
permission to conduct study from the school Principal of the Taytay United
Methodist Christian School, Inc shall be administered..
The researcher will thereafter go the respective respondents to administer
the questionnaires. Retrieval will be done after a week or two to give ample time
to the respondents to answer the questions posted. The data gathered will be
tabulated, analyzed and interpreted to complete the study.

Statistical Treatment of Data


The data gathered will be treated using the following statistical tools:
Weighted Mean. This will be used to determine the perception of the
teachers and the school heads on the organizational values of the Taytay United
Methodist Christian School, Inc. The same tool shall be used to know the extent
of stakeholders engagement as perceived by the two groups of respondents.

Pearson-r. This will be used to identify if there is a significant relationship


between the perception of the teachers and the school heads on the
organizational values of the school and stakeholders engagement.
