BUS TERMINAL-CUM-COMMERCIAL COMPLEX
AT DWARKA
India the worlds largest democracy has opened its gates of globalization in the recent years from its long era of a
closed economy to feed its fast growing population. The country has already achieved an annual growth rate of more
than 9 percent. The political and administrative brains of the country have passed new laws and methods to speed up
the developments.
In todays scenario, the country and the government has taken up the challenge of smart cities. For the development
of cities in terms of infrastructure to meet the growing needs of increasing population, it is important that we as
architects design spaces which are able to meet these challenges. Today, there is a need for sustainable development.
We need to design spaces that are energy efficient and help to reduce carbon footprints. So, an ISBT cum
Commercial Complex has been proposed in Dwarka. The commercial complex shall house offices, retail outlets,
eateries and multiplex. As these facilities will be present at ISBT complex itself , it will save the time of office going
people and also shoppers. This will also reduce traffic on roads thereby reducing the carbon footprints as well.
The main project components to be developed at the project site are:
1. Transport Facilities: Bus terminal and related passenger facilities.
2. Commercial Spaces
3. Official Zone

Activities and facilities (components) of the bus terminal


Passenger concourse, ticket counter, washroom, information desk, facilities of handicapped, clock
room, bus
Circulation area, bus bay, parking facilities, control room, high-tech security system , drinking water,
firefighting
System, power backup. Tourism, roadways, railways, police post, refreshments, telephone booths, book
shops, etc.
Restaurants & food court, lodge & dormitories, waiting room, rest rooms, bank, etc.
