HERMINIGILDO RANERA, conductor

Herminigildo G. Ranera graduated from the UST Conservatory of Music with a


Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in the fields of Trombone and Theory, Master of
Music degree in Conducting from the University of Northern Colorado (with the
Deans's citation for Graduate Excellence and National graduate Award.) and the
Doctor of Philosophy major in Educational Management from the Cagayan State
University.

As an orchestra conductor, he has led the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, CSULB


Symphony Orchestra, Chia-yi Wind Orchestra and the UST Symphony Orchestra, as
well as the Transylvania Philharmonic Orchestra in Club, Romania with international
and local artists such as Alexander Tomescu, Tian Jiang, Maki Hirasawa, Theo
Mertens, Zoltan Szabo, Nena Del Rosario-Villanueva, Fr. Manuel Maramba, Leonor
Kilayko, Reynaldo Reyes, Rowena Arrieta and Raul M. Sunico.

Presently teaching at the UST Conservatory of Music, Ranera is the conductor of the
UST Symphony Orchestra and Wind Orchestra. In 2003, he was chosen as a Dangal
Awardee (most outstanding faculty), Performing Arts Category by the University of
Santo Tomas and recently, the 2006 Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan Awardee for
Music given by the City of Manila. He is currently the associate conductor of the
Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.

ADOLFO MENDOZA, bassoon


Adolfo O. Mendoza finished his Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance at the
University of Sto. Tomas Conservatory of Music under Prof. Romeo Verayo and Prof.
Amaldo Custodio. He earned his Masters Degree at the Elisabeth University of
Music in Hiroshima, Japan and was a full scholar at the Hongkong Academy for
Performing Arts. In 2016, he finished his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Texas
Technological University of Music in Lubbock, Texas, USA.

He won second place at the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA)
Solo Bassoon Category C in 1992. Mendoza was also a winner of the International
Students Music Competition for solo instrument in Tokyo, Japan.

In 1995, Mendoza performed with the Asian Youth Orchestra at the White House, in
Carnegie Hall and in nine major cities in the USA. He was featured in the CCPs
Filipino Artists Series in September 2002, and as soloist of the PPO in the same year.
He participated in the Manila Wind Chamber Concert Tour to Seoul, South Korea in
November 2002, and performed as the principal bassoonist of the Philippine
Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) for its European tour to Austria, Czech Republic, Spain
and Germany in 2001 and its Japan concert tour in September 2002; among other
international performances.

Mendoza is the Music Director and Conductor of the Lyceum Northwestern


University Chorale and the Dagupan City Government Chorale. He is also the
founder and President of Pandaragupan Youth Orchestra, Inc. Presently, he is the
Associate Principal Bassoonist of the PPO and a faculty member of the University of
Sto. Tomas Conservatory of Music.
