Gruesome Theatre Injuries

In High School, our theatre department if it could even be

called that was fraught with Health and Safety hazards. At an all-girls

private school, we all used power tools and equipment with our hair

down, wearing skirts, and no safety equipment to be found. On my

eighteenth birthday, I was helping to construct a set for our production

of Godspell. Using a table saw without glasses, I got a face full of

sawdust and nearly blinded myself.

This incident is the result of a Woodworking Health Hazard as I

was unsafely using the saw that otherwise would have been okay to

use. It could have been avoided if I had worn safety glasses or other

protective face gear.
