Defense: 1 Palond wasn't pleased with her actions, and sent operatives
from Paladin Security (A Private Military Contractor subsidiary
Mental Defense: 3 of PI) after her and her new friend. Erasing her existence from
Hits: 100 online databases, Abigail and Indar (the name the Gorilla took
for himself) went underground.

Background: Abigail Vale always knew she was different. For as
long as she can remember, she had an affinity for machines. She
could make a television change channels by thinking about it,
cause her parents car to shut off when she'd throw a tantrum, even
access test answers stored on the school servers by accessing a
computer in computer class.
She set up a series of new identities for herself, and started
sifting through the data she had. After going through it all, she
saw PI for the corrupt entity it was. After laying low for a few
months, she started making plans to eradicate more of PI's
black projects. Taking the codename of Binary, she and Indar
now wage a secret war on Palond Industries.

As she got older, she got involved in environmental activism. She
especially hated animal testing. She ended up running with a group
of hackers who were targeting Palond Industries, who were doing
a lot of testing involving Gorillas. After hacking into one of their
databases, she discovered they were conducting genetic experi-
ments on them, and came up with a plan to rescue them.
Organizing a raid with some eco-terrorists she knew, Vale helped
them break into a secure facility. She discovered the Gorillas were
being modified to be potential super soldiers for the military. Most
of them were too sick to rescue, but one stood out: a large, green
furred Gorilla. When he spoke to her, she was amazed. She freed
him, and they fled the facility (but not before accessing information
on other secret projects Palond Industries was conducting).
Powers & Tactics
Binary isn't a straight up fighter; her domain is information
warfare. She knows how to manipulate computers and other
machines, allowing her to quickly access data from encryp-
tion, and spread it online. She is also able to cause problems
with computers and machines, causing them to freeze up and
not move. If she is attacked, she will rely on her partner Indar
to handle opposition, while she makes a hasty retreat.
Binary doesn't want to fight heroes, but she realizes that her
actions (and PI's publicity machine) paint her out to be a
villain. She will try and avoid confrontations with heroes, but
realizes she may run into them during one of her missions.
Thankfully, she's got Indar to back her up if she does.

Background: Indar is the result of genetic experimentation done
on him by Palond Industries. He was a normal Gorilla at one point,
but using high end gene therapies on him, turned him into a
prototype for a line of super soldiers. His intelligence was boosted
to human levels, and he developed the ability to speak. His phy-
sique was also boosted, so that he could leap farther than a normal
Gorilla, and was able to heal from wounds faster than normal. He
was trained in using firearms, as well as basic hand to hand
techniques. A weird side effect of the process was that his fur
turned green.
He saw his fellow Gorillas suffering though. He was the only one
the therapies worked successfully, but for the others, they ended up
with terrible side effects. He lamenting that his enhancements came
with such a steep price. Then one night, his world changed forever.
Abigail Vale and some eco-terrorists broke into the facility to rescue
them. The others were too sick to move, but Indar grabbed this
chance for freedom. Stealing a prototype blaster rifle he had been
training with, he went with Vale.
name of a minor Iranian war god. He felt it fitting, as he was
going to war with those that made him what he was.
Laying low with Vale (who now called herself Binary), the two
studied the information she had taken from PI's database on
other projects. They started planning, taking months to pre-
pare. They started to practice their team work, figuring out
each others strength's and weaknesses. Once they felt ready,
they started hitting PI secret facilities, escaping before Paladin
Security forces could capture them. Even though the public
thinks them terrorists, Indar knows their cause is just. He
hopes that some day, the truth will come out, so he and Binary
will be shown for the heroes he believes they truly are.
Powers & Tactics:
Indar was engineered to be a warrior. All ready gifted with
above human strength & stamina, he can heal from wounds
faster, and leap farther than a normal Gorilla can. He was
trained to use firearms, so he's handy with them. His blaster
rifle was one he used frequently, so he can use it to good effect.
Typically, Indar will cover Binary while she uses her powers on
computer systems or other machines. He will try to just keep
opponents at bay, but if they don't back off, he will get more
aggressive. One of his favorite tactics is to hang upside down
by his legs in the rafters, and shoot down on opponents with
his blaster rifle.

After learning his enhancements was just one of many secret

projects PI was conducting, he agreed to assist her in shutting them
down. After reading a web site on ancient mythology, he took on the
Using Binary & Indar
Binary & Indar focus all of their attention on corporations that harm
the environment, and perform testing on animals. While any corpo-
ration that does this can face their wrath, Palond Industries is their
primary target. While PI has done many great things to help people,
there is a darker side to the corporation that the duo combat
whenever possible.

This secret conflict between them and PI can bring in various

heroes with ties to the company (as they sponsor various high tech
heroes). Paladin Security, a Private Military Contractor & Palond
subsidiary company, is tasked with eliminating the duo. So far, all
their efforts have been unsuccessful.

The duo have ties to an Eco-Terrorist group known as The Sword

of Gaia, and sometimes work in concert with them. Theyve also
worked with the team known as The Others a few times. Adven-
tures featuring these two groups could include Binary & Indar.

The Trap
Binary & Indar have found information about another one of Palond
Industries genetics labs, which is doing experimentation on more
apes to try and replicate the process that was used on Indar (which
Binary deleted from their databases so it couldn't be used on other
innocent apes).

What they don't know is that it is a trap set up by Paladin Security,

the Palond PMC subsidiary. A team of PS operatives are waiting to
ambush them, along with Roughhouse, a hired metahuman. His
powers make him a match for Indar physically, and the soldiers
should be enough to handle Binary (as she isn't a combatant).

To keep from turning the situation into a major firefight, the PS

personnel are using rubber bullets to subdue Binary., and to irritate
Indar while Roughhouse deals with him. Since the trap is being laid
on a Palond facility, they are within their rights to subdue them if
anyone (like the players) show up to investigate the situation. This
could lead to a three way fight, as Binary & Indar try and escape,
Roughhouse and the security personnel try and capture them, with
the heroes caught in the middle.
Roughhouse
This metahuman backup for the Paladin Security troops
is nothing more than a super strong thug who likes to put
the hurt on people. Hes more powerful than Indar, so the
PS operatives are mostly there to deal with Binary, and
provide backup for Roughhouse as he subdues Indar.

The Facility:
The lab complex is situated on a block long complex owned by
Palond Industries. It's an older research center, and was recently
upgraded to match the genetics lab Indar was rescued from. There
is minimal security in place publicly; Paladin Security has standard
security guards in place out in the open to keep up the pretense that
this is just another one of Palond Industries research labs.

The lab is set up to seal itself once Binary attempts to access a data
terminal. Once it does, Roughhouse and the troops will come out of
concealment and try to subdue the duo.

Paladin Security Operatives

Private Military Thugs. There are approximately 20 of them, divided
into two teams of ten men each. Use the stats for Swat
Team/Special Forces minions on page 72 of BASH UE, but they are
not armed with knives.

Background: Howard Brooks was born with his powers. As a child,

he had trouble controlling his great strength, and was unable to
attend school because of it. It didnt take long for him to fall in with
the wrong crowd. He spent years moving up the ranks of the
underworld as a super powered leg breaker for hire.

For a short time he worked as a super powered Bounty Hunter,

working with the man known as Blaster. This led to him being hired
by Paladin Security, where he works as one of their metahuman
Troubleshooters. The truth is, hes still a leg breaker, just a high
paid one now.

Powers & Tactics:

Roughhouse is a straight up brawler. He charges right in, fists

swinging at whatever opposition hes pointed at. He takes pleasure
in inflicting pain on people for money. He will keep swinging unless
he takes some serious damage in a short period of time. If that
happens, hell fall back, and let regular troops cover him with
suppressive fire.

If the opposition includes someone with super strength, hell target

them first. He loves a good brawl, and super strong foes means a
lot of things being used to smash each other.
