cutting is a piece of a plant that is used in horticulture for vegetative (asexual) propagation. A piece of the stem or root of the source plant is placed in a suitable medium such as moist soil.
Layering is a means of plant propagation in which
a portion of an aerial stem grows roots while still attached to the parent plant and then detaches as an independentplant. Layering has evolved as a common means of vegetative propagation of numerous species in natural environments.
Budding is a form of asexual reproduction in which a
new organism develops from an outgrowth or bud due to cell division at one particular site. The new organism remains attached as it grows, separating from the parent organism only when it is mature, leaving behind scar tissue.
Plant grafting is a technique in which tissue from oneplant,
the scion, is attached onto another, the rootstock. The rootstock produces new vascular tissue with which to feed the scion, and the graftheals.
