Compare the Major Systems

of the Human Body

By: Piper and Julia
Digestive System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to digest food, absorb the nutrients,

and give the waste to the excretory system

Organs in the system:

Small intestine
Stomach
Mouth

Interesting fact: Food doesnt need gravity to get to your stomach.

Circulatory System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is pump blood through your body

Organs in the system:

Heart
Vessels
Blood

Interesting fact: The heart beats around three billion times in

the average persons life.
Respiratory System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to breath in oxygen and

breath out carbon dioxide

Organs in the system:

Lungs
Nose
Trachea

Interesting fact: The surface area of the lungs is

roughly the same size as a tennis court.
Nervous System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is

Organs in the system:

Brain
Spinal Cord
Nerve Net

Interesting fact:There are more nerve cells in the human brain

than there are stars in the Milky Way.
Skeletal System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to protect our organs, to give us

shape and structure, and to make red blood cells.

Organs in the system:

Rib Cage
Skull
Bones

Interesting fact:Like our skin, the human body's bones are also
constantly worn down and re-made, to the point where every 7
years we essentially have a new bone.
Muscular System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is move the

bones/skeletal system so we can move.

Organs in the system:

Abs/Stomach Muscles
Biceps/Arm Muscles
Muscles

Interesting fact: Muscles make up 40% of your total

body weight
How do the systems work together to maintain the
health and fitness of the human body?
1. One example of how the body systems works together is the skeletal system and the
muscular system. The muscles pull and push the bones effecting in movement.

2. Another example is the respiratory system and the circulatory system. The lungs collect
oxygen and the blood pumps them through the body.

3. Our last example is the digestive system and the excretory system. The digestive
system digests food and absorbs the nutrients and the excretory system takes the
excrete from the digestive system and pushes it out of your body.
