Thurs, Feb 2nd, The McMillan Project Community Updates was hosted by the Office of Deputy Mayor
for Planning and Economic Development, the Department of General Services, and the Department of
Parks and Recreation. Stabilization and Restoration Scope of the historic assessments was the topics of
discussion on 10 Sand Bins in each court (20 in all); 5 Sand Washers in each court (10 in all); and 4
relator houses. Overview of the McMillan Construction Project and where they are; Introduction of the
selected General Contractor - Gilbane, Quinn Evans - the New Design Team; An overview of DC Office
of Employment Service (DOES) Program Requirements. All presentations will be posted on
www.dgs.gov website. This meeting was held at the Inspired Teaching Public Charter School. POC:

McMillan Public Hearings are scheduled on Friday, Mar 10, 2017 @ 10:00 am on the McMillan
Order & SVC from the Mayors Agent for Historic Preservation (HPA #s 14-393 & 15-133). Location:
1100 4th Street SW, Room 650; Thursday, Mar 23, 2017, @ 6:30pm on the Notice of Limited Purpose
(Scope) of Considering the Issues Remanded by DC Court of Appeals to the Zoning Commission
Pertaining to the Following Case No. 13-14.(Vision McMillan Partners, LLC and DC First-Stage and
Consolidated PUDs and Related Map Amendment @ 2501 First Street NW (Square 3128, Lot 800).
Location: 441 4th St NW, Suite 220-South.

Fri, Feb 3rd, DC Water is scheduled to finish the last two water service connections on Adams Street. DC
Water is at the end of the Small Diameter Water Main Replacement Project for the Bloomingdale
community. The majority of the work has been completed for the project. Next week, DC Water will be
focused on cleanup activities which include the abandonment of old valves, fire-hydrants, etc.; temporary
road restoration; final street cleaning for the project locations; and the removal of barriers and fencing to
reopen First Street from Michigan Avenue to Rhode Island Avenue. DC Water will reopen First Street on
Thursday, February 9th after the completion of the cleanup activities. The conclusion of these activities
is dependent upon the weather.

DC Water is planning a final community meeting on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 7:00pm to
8:30pm at St. Georges Episcopal Church. The meeting will be held to discuss the remaining punch list
items and final restoration, among other items. Thank you for your patience and understanding during

Sat, Feb 4th, Edgewood Recreation Center: The Department of General Services (DGS) and the
Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will host an open house regarding the rebuilding of the
Edgewood Center at 1PM -3PM at the Inspired Teaching Public Charter School (200 Douglas St NE)

Mon, Feb 6th, Stronghold Civic Association (SCA) meets at the Inspired Teaching Public Charter School
(200 Douglas St NE) from 7PM 9PM. SCA meets every 1st Monday of each month unless it falls on a

Mon, Feb 6th. - 10th, FST Construction Alert for V Street NW Next week SKJD will carry out
concrete finishing work on the V Street Diversion Chamber. The work will be done on the south side of
V Street NW, just west of First Street. While V Street will not be closed to traffic, parking restrictions on

Tues, Feb 7th, Rhode Island Ave (RIA) NE Streetscape Project: The District Department of
Transportation (DDOT) will host its 1st public meeting for the RIA NE Streetscape Project. The purpose
is to inform the public of the projects progress and present 30% of the design for the corridor from 5-
8PM (presentation at 6:30PM) at the Woodridge Library (18 Hamlin St NE).

Thurs, Feb 9th, MAG Meeting is held every 2nd Thursday of each month. You may view minutes and/or

Mon, Feb 13th, Tactical Urbanism Project at North Capitol St and Lincoln Road NE: The District
Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host a public meeting to discuss this project. The purpose is
to increase safety at the North Capitol/Lincoln Road NE intersection through immediate, short-term
improvements that will lead the way for a larger intersection. DDOT will present a draft design concept
and gather comments from the community; 6:30pm-8pm at NoMa BID Lobby (1200 First St NE)

Wed, Feb 13th, Norton in the Neighborhood will meet @ the Friendship Armstrong Public Charter
School; 6:30PM 8PM @ 1400 First Street NW (corner of 1st and P St NW).

The BCA Historic Preservation Committee: A vote will be taken by BCA during the Feb meeting on
the method to retain historical character. All Bloomingdale residents are invited to attend and participate
in this VERY IMPORTANT VOTE on whether to deny Historic District Designation. This VOTE will
affect all Bloomingdale residents whether you are a member or not of BCA. If you cannot attend and
have questions or comments, send an email to the BCA Historic Preservation Committee @
BCAHistoric@gmail.com letting the Committee Chair Serita Sanders know whether you deny Historic
District Designation. Hope to see you at both meetings.

Thursday, Mar 2nd, Public Hearing - Trinity Washington University submitted an application to the
Office of Zoning. The Applicant is requesting approval of its 2017-2027 Trinity Washington University
Campus Plan for property located in Square 3548, Lot 2 and Parcel 120/33 & 120/34 from 6:30PM, the
Public Hearing will be conducted in accordance with the contested case provisions of the Zoning
Commissions Rules of Practice and Procedure, 11 DCMR, Subtitle Z, Chapter 4.

Solar Co-op for Community Members: There are residents within the Bloomingdale Neighborhood
who are interested in becoming solar co-op members. Ive contacted the Solar Team to see if it is
possible that they can provide an overview on the solar system at the Bloomingdale Civic Association.
Some residents want to know more on the subject and if others are interest in becoming a Bloomingdales
Solar Co-op Member which will lower the cost of the solar panels. Ive requested that the Solar Team try
to get on the Bloomingdale Civic Associations agenda to provide a presentation in the near future.

District Snow Team Readies: Motorists are asked to drive carefully and remove any snow from their
vehicles before travelling. As a precaution, property owners should spread an abrasive rock salt, deicer,
or non-clumping kitty litter on their sidewalks. Property owners residential and commercial are
reminded that they are required to remove snow from their sidewalks within the first eight hours of
daylight after a snow event ends.

Residents who are homeowners and live in their own homes and are age 65 or older and/or living with a
disability may be eligible for an exemption from this requirement. For further information about the
exemption process and to receive an application, call 311.

AVOID A SANITATION TICKET:


Regular Trash Collection: Place trash and recycle containers out for collection no earlier than 6:30 PM
on the night before - no later than 6 AM the morning of collection day. Residents are required to remove
trash and recycle containers from public space (the alley) by 8 PM on your collection day.

Bulk Trash Collection: Call 311 to set up appointments before placing bulk trash out (7 items) for
collection. Place bulk trash out no earlier than 6:30PM the day before and no later than 6 AM on
collection day. Place them where the trash and recycle are collected.

Without appointment: Take bulk items to the Fort Totten Transfer Station, 4900 John F. McCormack
Drive NE. Other

City Services include abandoned autos, alley cleaning, illegal dumping, parking enforcement, potholes,
trees, & street lights. The rep will provide a tracking # of your request.

Yard Cleaning and Grass Cutting: Residents are responsible for the up keep of the area abutting the
front and back of their homes. This may include front and back yards, sidewalk and alley abutting your
home. Fines may occur from the city if DPW or other agencies have to come out to accommodate this
request.
