Learning Experience: Pointy Balls
Programming Purpose: The children will learn how to follow instructions as well as
practice gross motor skills.

Objective:
Children will strengthen cognition is sorting as they begin to understand the
difference between the signs
Children will enhance physical development in sensory discrimination as they
identify the property/material of the balls
Children will strengthen communication skills as they communicate with one
another (listen, than act)

Materials:
7 pointy balls, each are different colours
Signs that say Roll, Toss, Bounce, and Kick

Opening (Introduction)
Take out the green see-through bag and show the children the different colored balls.
Ask the children who wants to play with the balls.

Body (Content)
1. Tell the children to line up one behind the other to pick out one ball from the
bag
2. Allow children to explore and free play with the balls for a few minutes
3. Show the children the cards and model how to toss, roll, bounce and kick the
balls gently
4. Use do-it signals and allow the children to follow the words on the cards
5. acknowledge appropriate behavior (Wow, Child A is rolling the ball to the
teacher)

Closing (Ending)
Today we learned how to gently toss and kick the balls. We also know how to bounce
and roll. Who had fun?

Transition
Whos excited to go outside, everyone put the balls in the bag please. We have to get
dressed.
