Recruiting and Retention:

Recruiting students would be largely built from retaining students rising from
middle schools programme. Communication with middle school instrumental teachers is
key. Also setting up visits to the middle school with select high school groups for small
concerts, or to have high school students sit in rehearsal with middle schoolers.
Recruiting new students will be achievable through a combination of positive
programme reputation, accessible ensembles for new or advancing instrumentalists, and
student outreach.
Reputation in the student body is built by satisfied students spreading word to
their peers that band is indeed a fun place to be. Reputation is also developed by the
product that the instrumental groups put out at various on campus performances that the
student body will see.
One thing that I believe is very important, even in the high school band
programme is a beginner band class. Many students may see a performance or hear about
the programme and want to join band, but in many schools theres no longer an entry
level class for students interested in playing a traditional wind instrument.

Fundraising:
Funds beyond the schools provision would be fundraised through a couple of
events. The largest fundraiser would be the annual Jazz Night Gala. A 3 hour catered
dinner and show put on by the Jazz Band, the Jazz Singers (choral). Chamber Strings
would play the cocktail hour before the dinner, and Jazz Band and Singers would
alternate small sets, with a few large collaboration pieces. Tickets for this event would be
sold to parents/teachers/administrators.
Other fund raisers could include involve traditional bake sales, or asking for
donations at school concerts.
