To Whom It May Concern:
I am seeking employment in Democratic Politics. As a lifelong democrat, I became a dedicated member of the
Michigan Democratic Party when I turned 16 and was able to register, and Ive been a leader in my county party, and
countless political campaigns ever since. Today, as the chair of the St. Clair County Democrats, I want more than
anything to be an integral part of democratic success. I have a passion for service, community, and progressive ideals. I
am also a seasoned writer, I have written many op-eds and candidate speeches, literature, radio ads, and speeches. I
believe my skills would be a great asset to any position.
As an active leader on countless campaigns, I have participated at every level of campaign work including as a field
organizer, a door knocking and phone banking coordinator, and even a candidate. At the age of 20, from a pool of
seven candidates, I successfully ran for and won a seat on my local school board of trustees.
My background also includes working for Byrum and Fisk, a communications firm out of East Lansing, as an Operations
Manager. Here, I was able to gain hands on experience with media relations, press release writing, and organizing
media events.
I also served as a mentor and leader within the Leadership Institute at Central Michigan University. I took leadership
positions in many student organizations as their communications manager, including the ACLU, College Democrats,
Obama for America, and Model United Nations. I am no stranger to long hours and hard work.
As Vice President of the CMU College Democrats, I helped run a complete rebrand and revitalization of the party,
which gained us considerable press and new members. I am in the process of doing this same thing as chair of my
county party, and I believe this experience could assist democrats in immeasurable ways.
I also bring to the table strong computer proficiencies in MS Word, MS Excel, the VAN, and a Bachelor of Science
degree (Political Science and Leadership). Please see the accompanying resume for details of my experience and
education.
I am confident that I can offer the enthusiasm, experience, and leadership skills that you are seeking to make sure the
Democratic cause is successful and 2018 is a very blue year. Feel free to call me at 810-858-2042 to arrange an
interview. Thank you for your time!
Sincerely,
Hayley Alderman

Good
afternoon,
Democrats.
Welcome
to
St.
Clair
County,
h ome
of
the
beautiful
Blue
Water
Bridges.
Yes
there
are
two.
My
name
is
Hayley
Alderman,
I
am
the
county
chair
here.
Like
all
of
Michigans
counties,
St.
Clair
County
h as
a
few
bragging
rights.
Were
framed
by
picturesque,
rolling
farmland
to
the
west,
captivating
b lue
water
on
the
east,
and
a
bologna
festival
every
summer.
We
are
also
home
to
some
of
the
states
best
teachers,
motivated
students,
generous
families,
and
dedicated
workers.
But
like
too
many
Michigan
families,
we
are
represented
in
Lansing
and
Washington
by
those
who
are
disinterested
in
what
matters
most
to
the
good
people
of
our
counties.
It
seems
generously
funding
schools,
honoring
work
with
fair
pay,
and
making
sure
our
roads
and
bridges
are
safe
for
travel
are
just
n ot
as
compelling
as
denying
two
p eople
who
love
each
other
the
right
to
adopt
children
and
creating
a
tax
policy
that
benefits
the
super
wealthy
and
hurts
everyone
else.
Could
anything
be
more
depressing
than
being
represented
by
people
who
dont
care
about
us?
Yes.
And
here
it
is.
We
have
the
p ower
to
vote
them
out,
b ut
we
just
dont.
Thats
why
here
in
St.
Clair
County,
increasing
voter
participation
will
be
our
calling,
our
mission,
our
first
p riority
from
here
on
out.
And
as
I
welcome
you
here
today,
I
hope
that
we
can
all
see
our
Get
Out
The
Vote
initiatives
in
new
light.
We
have
always
known
its
importance,
but
we
cannot
d eny
that
our
efforts
need
more
than
a
mathematical
approach.
We
need
to
connect
with
people.
We
must
find
a
way
to
h elp
voters
understand
that
what
matters
most
to
them,
matters
most
to
us.
Every
action,
every
word,
every
dollar
spent,
should
be
focused
on
this
goal.
It
is
essential
that
our
message
resonate
with
truth
and
dignity.
Today
is
important
for
our
party.
We
bid
farewell
to
Lon
Johnson
and
offer
our
sincerest
appreciation
for
his
efforts
as
our
chair.
We
are
grateful
to
our
elected
officials
who
represent
the
people
of
this
state
with
the
values
that
honor
ordinary
people.
We
are
thankful
for
each
other,
because
it
is
the
ordinary
person
who
makes
the
calls,
knocks
the
doors,
and
writes
the
checks
even
when
the
family
budget
is
strained.
Those
bridges
out
there
are
a
symbol
of
our
job
as
members
of
this
great
party.
Our
work
is
to
build
a
bridge
from
our
voters
to
the
voting
booths.
We
must
help
them
recognize
their
role,
use
their
power
to
build
a
government
who
is
responsive
to,
n ot
b ored
by
their
concerns.
I
am
grateful
every
d ay
that
I
am
a
Democrat.
We
care
about
the
things
that
matter.
It
is
an
honor
to
b e
sharing
this
important
work
with
everyone
here
and
I
thank
you
all
for
coming
to
St.
Clair
County
today.
