Course: Principles of Sociology and Anthropology

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This is an introduction to the origin, development, scope, basic concepts, theories and methods of Sociology and Anthropology, as the scientific study of human
beings in society. Focusing on the Philippines, the course gives emphasis on culture, human evolution, human group, socialization, social
stratification, rural and urban communities, social institutions and social change. It aims to expand the student's view and understanding of both local and global social
realities.

OBJECTIVES:
Achieve critical and creative thinking that can be utilized in addressing academic as well as life difficulties.
Achieve a thorough understanding of the social world through the use of sociological and anthropological theories.
Participate in advocacies that promote social responsibility, ethical conduct and Christian moral values.
Communicate sociological and anthropological concepts in a clear and concise manner.
Collaborate efficiently and effectively in individual and group-oriented activities.

GRADING SYSTEM: Class Standing - 60%

Preliminary / Final Examination - 40%

Total - 100%

CLASS POLICIES: Daily quizzes will be given only to students present during the session. This will also monitor the attendance of students.
Late submissions will not be tolerated.
The class will adhere to the rules and regulations specified in the student handbook of the University.
