A PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST AS FILIPINO

PLOT

SETTING:
Set in the living room of the Marasigan House in
Intramuros just before the World War II

CHARACTERS:
Candida and Paula Marasigan-spinter daughter of
Don Lorenzo.
Pepang- their elder married sister
Manolo- their eldest brother
Bitoy Camacho- a friend of the family
Tony Javier- a lodger at the Marasigan House
Pete- a Sunday magazine editor
Eddie- a writer
Cora- a news photographer
Susan and Violet- vaudeville artist
Don Perico- a senator
Doa Loleng- Don Pericos wife
Patsy- their daughter
Elsa Montes and Charlie Dacamay- friends of
Doa Loleng
Don Alvaro and Doa Upeng his wife
Don Pepe
Don Aristeo

INITIAL INCIDENTS:
At the sala Marasigans house, Candida
explained that the artist her father, painted
himself as HE IS NOW, and as he used TO BE IN
THE PAST.
RISING ACTION:
Don Perico, Manolo and Pepang forces Paula and
Candida to surrender the Portrait to the
government and sell to the old house.

COMPLICATION:
Paula and Candida explain to Don Perico why
they dont want to accept the offer and the later
soon understand. But still continue to argue it with
Manolo and Pepang.

CLIMAX:
>Paula, as convinced by Tony, leaves the house
with the portrait
>media people got to know that the portrait was
missing the watch man, detective and cops came,
and they mistakenly suspected Candida as a spy
>Candida blame herself why Paula is missing,
that her selfishness destroys other people lives
>Paula and Candida were folded by Tony

RESOLUTION:
>Pepang and Manolo found out what the reason
behind Don Lorenzos condition
>Candida and Paula discovered how they will get
their fathers forgiveness. They also discovered
that they were just being fooled by Tony.

FALLING ACTION:
>The portrait were cut into pieces, destroyed
and was burned
>Candida and Paula were forgiven by their father
>They found their faith, freedom and courage
again.
