SLOPE STABILISATION

JGP has designed and managed numerous slope stabilisation works, each presenting their own complex geotechnical
conditions and constraints. Our experienced engineering geologists and civil engineers provide pragmatic and
cost-effective solutions for both rock and soil slopes.

Our company has successfully utilised a number of design methodologies. Examples include:

Lundy Island Mass down-slope movement of coastal slope affecting the access road. New piled / anchored
reinforced gunite roads were designed to resist down-slope forces and withstand predicted shallow rooted landslip
impact.
Lyme Regis - An active landslip caused severe structural damage to two properties. A contiguous piled and anchor
embedded retaining wall was constructed to retain the slope and extended drainage was installed.
Falmouth An 80 rock slope was cut in highly fractured slate to facilitate the construction of a supermarket. High
level weak material was supported by a reinforced anchored sprayed concrete retaining structure; the rock slope was
systematically dowelled and a soldier strengthened criblock facing was engineered to retain the slope face.
Bingley, Yorkshire Road widening necessitated the stabilisation of the cutting. Hybrid soil nailing / rock anchors
were used to stabilise the slope.
Bovisand Coastal slope failure encroached on highway. The road was re-routed; the slope was graded and
hydro-seeded to improve stability.
Liskeard A large soil and rock cutting failed during construction of a new warehouse. JGP was called in to design
temporary stabilisation to enable bulk excavation to continue and design the permanent anchored reinforced
concrete wall and re-grading of upper slope.
Plymouth A 6m high gabion retaining wall was constructed to retain slopes around a large retail park.
Torquay JGP carried out the site investigation, ground monitoring and geotechnical design of deep raking pile
reinforcement for a large luxury home constructed on the eastern margin of a significant landslip.
