As many of will be celebrating their love through sharing of gifts on 14th February, a love story
has been talk of the town for a couple of weeks. Pakistanis have seen in fact grown observing
the love blossoming between the literary figures Mr. Ashfaq Ahmed and Mohtarma Bano Qudsia
who are both remembered very fondly now by the nation. Mohtarma breathed her last on 5th
February to join her late husband who passed away in 2004. On behalf of Pakistanis in Australia
we offer our deepest condolences to the family.
West Australians will go to poll on 11th March 2017. As an incorporated group we keep ourselves
unbiased and will let the voters decide which candidate to choose. Our only concern is the
preference deals of the candidates with other parties. Please consider the policies and ask
questions from the candidates to make an informed judgment.

Department of Local Government and Communities. The project youth for fitness is a daylong
event at Binningup Beach which is half way between Perth and Bunbury. The event on Ist April

able to join us as well.
January was rightfully cricket month with Pakistani cricket team and it was like a month long
festival for Pakistani community across all major cities. We had planned to have the match
before ODI but have postponed it as the most convenient date was 18 th January however being a
working day it seems difficult for members to take time consecutively for two days. Lets wait for
the next date once Ramis Hassan returns.
We are currently looking for the event in the month of March for cultural display. As soon as our
public liability insurance is renewed the venue will be booked.

We now start planning for our AGM so it will be a hectic few months. This year we intend to
present the whole year program at the same time as well as the first publication of our
Multicultural Research Group.
The program provides financial assistance to junior athletes or any athlete with a
disability who are residents of the City and who are selected to represent WA or Australia in
recognised sporting competitions. For further information visit the Citys website.

MEANWHILE ON FACEBOOK
One of the members posted that he has several tickets for the cricket match to be held in
Perth. We later received complaints that the said member is selling them on a much higher
price and that when members refused to buy from him he was calling them late at night to
bargain. The member is blocked from the group as the outcome of the complaints.
In a second issue, a post was circulated on social media about a Pakistani who was
supposedly missing in Australia and that his family is desperately looking for him. His
photographs and credentials were on the web. As soon as a member shared the post on our
group, we contacted the Consul General of Pakistan in Sydney and Mr Yousufani explained
that the process in such a case is that family notifies the Overseas Pakistani Foundation and
matter is dealt as of high importance at government level. He also confirmed no such
request has been made by the said family as yet. The post was therefore not allowed to be
shared.
The reason that we are sharing this information is to convey that despite having 8450
members in an open group page we take this matters seriously and do not compromise on
the integrity of this group and community in general.
