Sabadell, From March 21th to March 27th

SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT

Less than two years ago, in 2015, 850,000 refugees arrived by
sea through the Greek islands and until June 28th, 2016, 158.000
more have been added to the initial figure. After the closure of
borders crossing the Balkans and the implementation of the
agreement between the European Union and Turkey, refugees
who arrived in Greece cannot continue their journey to Western
Europe and currently, only in Greece, there are more than
50,000 who remain divided in various refugee camps across the
country. We are at a time in which acting against the injustices
that are being undertaken in this humanitarian crisis has become
a mandatory condition. Not only as entities we are obliged to
collaborate and cooperate internationally, but as citizens we
must ensure that the younger generations acquire knowledge,
awareness and empathy with the situation we are living; with the
aim to contribute by providing solutions and eliminating certain
behaviors and attitudes that improve the society of which we are
part. Through urban culture it is intended to promote an artistic
intervention to raise public awareness of the need of providing
support and showing solidarity with refugees in a situation of
helplessness.

This project was born from the initiative of a group of young

economic migrants after a workshop about the situation on
Greek refugee camps, and they pose the need to work the
subject in a youth exchange format.

2
Sabadell, From March 21th to March 27th

The city chosen to celebrate the "Walking with refugees" project

is Sabadell, while it is a host municipality for refugees, is the
place where the group of youngsters lives and started thinking
on this project.

GENERAL GOALS
To create a debate about the humanitarian crisis and the
inclusion of groups affected in the current European
communities.
To promote urban art as a tool for community work and
inclusion, through non-formal education.
To create a link between young Europeans and partner entities
from an exchange.

ESPECIFIC GOALS
To create awareness and debate on the situation of refugees
among young people between 18 and 30 years old.
To create a debate about the concept of refugee / migrant.
To promote the acquisition of knowledge to address the
situation from / in countries of origin.
To promote networking to address situations that affect
everyone.
To promote the acquisition of knowledge of urban and
audiovisual art.
To promote social inclusion of young people with fewer
opportunities through urban culture.
To propose new initiatives to continue working on the main
theme of the project.

3
Sabadell, From March 21th to March 27th

The participants in the project will be between 18 and 30 years

old, whereas the social and professional responsibility required
by the project is more linked to this age.

In order to achieve all the objectives, there will be firsthand

made different dynamics, workshops, debates and lectures with
the participation of young people from the exchange. On the
other hand, organizations and volunteers who work in the
territory will visit the participants of the youth exchange and will
explain them their experiences.

Therefore, all proposed activities respond to the following lines

of action:

1. Creating opportunities for reflection and dialogue.

2. Activities of artistic drawing (graffiti) and audiovisual.
3. Informal activities.
4. Final Graffiti and audiovisual material.

This exchange is the starting point for future training of trainers

in which the partners want to continue working, facing the 2017.

We consider the communication essential to maintain a

networking, which allows us not only to share experiences and
best practices around the refugee community intervention; but
also to maintain international cooperation and to increase the
associations fighting for improvements of the situation.

4
Sabadell, From March 21th to March 27th

One of the objectives of this youth exchange besides giving

visibility to the humanitarian crisis, creating debate and
developing and implementing a set of good practices, it is also to
give visibility to Erasmus + program in Sabadell. To this end and
as a mechanism for sharing the results audiovisual materials will
be disseminated through TACC social networks, website and
local media. The participants themselves will be the vehicle to
move and to spread the Erasmus + program among the local
community.
