Statement of Intent

Over the course of the years, I have enriched myself into different interests and

discoveries. My high school experience has introduced me into different opportunities that my

potential can take forward. With the experiences and journeys Ive have gone on, Ive gained

more assurance towards the next steps of my future. The potential plans that I will seek out will

not only be a reflection of who I became to be, but what more I can accomplish and discover.

Once I graduate, I intend to further my future growth by attending a four-year university,

pursuing my major in Biology, and working towards my career in the medical field.

Throughout my high school career, Ive obtained greater knowledge that has greatly

connected me to my career/study interest. Since freshman year, Ive set high goals for myself

that motivated me and proved my potential. Academically, I aimed to take four years of all core

subjects to maintain the mindset and enlightenment from the expansion of knowledge. At

Buckingham, Ive taken science courses such as: Biology, Chemistry, Human Anatomy and

Physiology, and AP Environmental Science. Additionally, I have taken Buckingham math

courses: Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus. These subjects, math and science, have been

the most challenging in high school but Ive learned and worked hard in the efforts to understand

and succeed in the courses. I have also taken college classes that are creditable in both high

school and college at Solano Community College for Intermediate Algebra, U.S. History,

Elementary Statistics, and Introduction to Psychology. Among this, I have exceeded the

graduation requirements in order to graduate high school. By the majority of these courses, I

have really developed interest in science, particularly in life science. With the background and

developed interest, I am confident that I am in a positive direction to pursue my major in Biology

and attend a four-year university.

After graduating high school, I plan on attending a four-year university (hopefully on the

west coast) with a major in Biology and minor in communications. After graduating with my

bachelors, I want to go to medical school (again preferably in the west coast). My dream

medical school is University of California San Francisco or Oregon Health and Science

University. From there, I will strive for four years in order to attain my Masters. The next step

would be to apply for residency in any hospital and train/work there in order to declare my

specialty. From the influence of my father and his career, I have a strong interest in Radiology

and Pediatrics and would like to be in a hospital setting because of the exciting, unique, and

amusing cases each day will bring. As a person that enjoy outlining/laying out my goals and

paths, I will still enjoy the journey no matter the obstacles I face that will hold me back or help

me excel.

My goal in life is to always follow my dreams, but with the mindfulness of my skills and

intelligence. The path that led me here, and the same one that will continue to take me was

inspired by the many people I have met and built relationships with, whether if it were a man on

my BART train or uncle, the little things Ive learned from them have impacted my life. From

these people, Ive grown to be more awake in my journey rather than half-asleep. I needed to

recognize what I was sensible to and what else more I need in order to succeed, all built from

experiences. Specifically, I became more aroused starting from when I was in middle school

about being a service to others and the science that rounds us up as humans. As I grew, I gained

more confidence in myself to take on the step of doing what I love. I was exposed to many

enriching experiences: Junior Toastmasters, Teen Advocates for Science Communication,

Student Leadership, and sports. Each of them have greatly shaped who I am today. Also, since I

was a little girl, visiting my dad was always exciting; I met world-class doctors that have written

books, done famous medical cases, and interacted with different people for careers in the medical

field. They all expressed the importance of doing what you love, and that has always carried with

me.

As I go off further into the world to expand my abilities and enrich with culture and

knowledge, I want to remember the person Ive become, especially since high school. I intend on

become a woman that will serve and care for others. I delight in making someones day, whether

it is helping with groceries or performing an incredible surgery. With the knowledge I have

gained, this will be the gate to the many branches of my life. Guided by patience and motivation,

I will be an advocate to help and care for people, or maybe the world.
