2 REFERENCE (Lateral) LOAD CALCULATION

3.2.2.1 WIND LOAD CALCULATION
Basic formula:
qz 0.0000473 KzKztV2I

where ; qz = velocity pressure evaluated at height z above ground (kN/m2)

0.0000473 = numerical coefficient
Kz = velocity pressure exposure coefficient at height z (Exposure D applies)
Kzt = topographic factor
Kzt = (1 + K1 K2 K3)2
Notes: K1 K2 K3 = 0, therefore Kzt = 1.00
V = basic wind velocity (speed), 200 kph (Zone II)
I = importance factor
= 1.00

Design Wind pressures for the main wind force resisting system shall be determined by the following
equation:
F = qz G Cf Af
where ; qz = velocity pressure evaluated at height z of the centroid of area Af
using exposure defined in Section 6.5.6.3.2 of ASCE 7-98
G = gust effect factor from Section 6.5.8 of ASCE 7-98
Cf = net force coefficients from Tables 6-9 through 6-12 of ASCE 7-98
Af = projected area normal to the wind except where Cf is specified
for the actual surface area
