Abstract
Background : Chronic osteomyelitis of the mandible is a type of chronic inflammatory process in the medullary spaces or cortical
surfaces of bone. This type of chronic inflammation can be found in children and adults with different form of bone reaction or
destruction. The disease primarily caused by odontogenic infections originate from pulpal or periodontal tissues. Diagnosis is
made based on the history of illness, clinical findings and simple panoramic roentgenogram. Purpose : The purpose of this paper
is to describe two cases with different type of chronic osteomyelitis of the mandible in children and adult. Case Management :
In patient #1 with large sequestrum had undergone squetrectomy and extraction of involved tooth. Patient #2 with Garres
osteomyelitis treated with extraction of causative tooth. Conclusion : Different treatment apply to the patients depend on the
etiology and bone destruction.
