WesternAustraliannowresidentintheUK,livedatGuildfordintheearly1960's.Hetaughtchemistry,

backgroundRexlookedforthecauseinrecentchanges.Asanagriculturistheknewthatboronwas
necessaryforgreenplants,whereithelpsincalciummetabolism.Inpursuingthishedecidedtotrialiton
himselfusingborax,aboronextract.

Rextook30mgofborax,twiceaday.In3weeksthepainswellingandstiffnesshad
gone.Hestoppedtakingit.Ayearlaterthesymptomscamebackanddisappeared
quicklyagainonresumptionofhisboraxdose.(olderpeoplemaytakelonger)

Overthenext10yearshetoldmanypeoplehemetandtheytriedboraxwithsimilar
results.In1976Rexhadsomeborontabletsmadeup.Bytheearly80'shewas
selling10,000bottlesamonth.Rexapproachedadrugcompanymarketinga
commonpainkillingdrugforarthritis.Theywereonlyconcernedaboutlossoftheir
ownprofitsandendedupinstigatingagovernmentlawthatboronbedeclareda
poisoninanyconcentration.ThisresultedinRexbeingfinedandmadeboron
unavailable.Boronistoxiciftakeninlargequantities.Rexpointsoutthatordinary
saltistoxicaswelliftoomuchistakenbutsaltisnotbanned.

Rexhassinceresearchedtheeffectsofboron.ItiswellknownthatCarnarvonisa
goodplaceforarthritis.Manyelderlypeoplegothereforacoupleofmonthsata
timetogetridoftheirarthritis.In1981Rexemployedanumberofschoolleaversto
carryoutasurveyinCarnarvon.Thisshowedthatonly1%ofthelocalpopulation
hadarthritis.OthermainAustraliantownshada20%rateofarthritis.Rex
investigatedfurtherandfoundthatitwasnottheclimatethathelpedbutthehigh
boroncontentinwater&foodgrownintheGascoyneRiverbed.

Rexresearchedmanyareasoftheworldlookingatarthritisincidenceandsoilcontent.Israelhassomeofthe
bestsoilintheworldandahighboroncontent.Anindependentsurveyin19781980attheKaplanHospital
showedarthritisforthewholecountrytobelessthan1%.

InNewZealandanumberofspaspoolsarerecommendedasbeinggoodforarthritis.Theyallhavehigh
boronreadings.OnemotelatNgawhahasacollectionofwheelchairsandcrutchesleftbehindbypeopleno
longerneedingthemwhentheyleave.

TheNZgreenlippedmusselextractthatisclaimedtorelievearthritiswasoriginallygatheredfromWhite
Island,avolcanicislandwithventsunderthesea.Themusselsabsorbedboronfromtheseainthiswayand
thiswasthesecrettotheirsuccess.Musselsgatheredfromotherareasdonothavethesameeffectasthey
lacktheboron.

Thereareanumberofdegenerativediseasesthatappeartobenefitfromboronsupplementation.

RHEUMATOIDARTHRITIS
