Objectives of the Study

The main thrust of the study is to design and develop a coal fly ash

compacting machine for oil spill adsorption.

Specifically, the study aims to:

1. design a coal fly ash compacting machine taking into consideration the

following parameters:
1.1 system components
1.2 material specifications
2. fabricate a coal fly ash compacting machine taking into account the design

specification.
3. conduct preliminary testing to establish the following parameters:
3.1 operating capacity
3.2 operating pressure
3.3 operating time
4. test the performance of the coal fly ash compacting machine to determine

the following parameters:

4.1 compacting rate
4.2 compacting efficiency
5. test the properties of product output in terms of:
5.1 ph level
5.2 bulk density
5.3 average pore size
5.4 particle size distribution
5.5 surface area
6. test the effectiveness of the product output to the simulated oil-water

mixture under the following conditions:

6.1 varying amount of clay
6.2 time of contact
6.3 number of compacted fly ash
7. develop an operation manual for the coal fly ash compacting machine

Significance of the Study

The economical design of coal fly ash compacting machine would be of

great contribution and significance to the following sections.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) may use

the output in promoting a non-chemically based adsorbent for oil spill.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) may consider this

study as a reference for future a researcher regarding the coal fly ash

compacting machine that produces an oil spill adsorbent.

The University and the future researchers may consider this as a

reference material for future researches and innovations.
