Scientific Officer Marine Data

The Bureau of Meteorology seeks a scientific officer to be responsible for monitoring and improving the use and quality of marine data in the
Observations program and by its clients. This will include quality monitoring of marine and oceanographic data, development of quality control methods
and tools, research into measurement issues and integration support of solutions into upstream and downstream systems, provision of support for the
calibration laboratory and examination of new measurement and monitoring methods as they become available.
To undertake these duties, the occupant will require a strong theoretical and practical background in physical science, an expertise in measurement
science and its marine and meteorological application, and a high level of proficiency as a programmer in a scientific setting and strong data analysis
skills and a capability to apply theoretical physics to real world problem.
The ability to work as a team member and effective communication skills are also necessary, as is a proven ability to form and maintain productive
working relationships with internal and external colleagues.
