COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY

This competition of award of one $500 college/university scholarship is open to all female, high
school seniors across the State of Tennessee who have plans to attend college or university
2016 2017 school year. The applicant must have a 3.0 4.0 grade point average.

TO APPLY

This application must include the following:

1. The completed application form.

2. A one page essay, not to exceed 300 words, stating how the applicant's career goals
and field of study relate to the principles of government and the Democratic Party and
why the applicant should receive the scholarship.

3. Two letters of recommendations:

A. One from the high school principal or guidance counselor evaluating the applicants
accomplishments, academic or otherwise.

B. One from a non-relative explaining connection with applicant and reasons for
recommendation.

4. Copies of high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores. Transcripts/scores may be

photocopied.

NOTIFICATION

The winner will be notified by telephone May 3, 2017 and confirmed by mail. The presentation
will be made at the annual convention. Notification of non-winning entrants will be sent by
standard mail by May 12, 2017.
