Pennies for Patients
HOSA was soon
introduced to pennies for patients.
This is was a way to raise money
for the Leukemia and lymphoma
society, a society The HOSA
chapter had become attached to.
Last year the chapter go to
participate in light he walk, this
year everyone in the HOSA
chapter took the time to decorate
a box, and set it out at local
stores, and even in the
classrooms. We all voiced the
important of raising money for this
cause, and allowed all to
participate in good that came
from helping.
Need a Band-Aid?
St. James HOSA,
started off by selling first aid
kits. These kits included one
for car, pets, and even large
kits for the house! The prces
ranged anywhere from
twelve to forty dollars, Our
goal was to promote 2
healthy and safe outlook for
our community, with the
handy kits that could be
stored in cars and other
convenient places. With the
money we raised half of it
when to further help our
community, by going to the
leukemia and lymphoma
society, the rest of the profits
went to HOSA to help
continue to raise money for
states.
‘Trunk of Treat
In addition to getting
involved with the community,
HOSA was asked to participate in
trunk or treat, at the school on
Halloween for younger kids. This
event, involved St. James
extracurricular activities to
decorate a car for the Halloween
night. This even allowed all
children the come a trick or treat
without the dangers concerning
Halloween night. With the help of
teachers and administrations, for
watching over the event to ensure
event was going smoothly, they
were also encouraged to bring
their children. A huge turnout of
children showed up got some
candy and played games. HOSA
was excited to have three cars
their and really be involved with
not only children, but other
students of the school.

HOSA was presented with a wonderful opportunity to collect water bottles for Flint Michigan.
HOSA was educated by a former member, about families living in poverty are being negligently
| poisoned. "Help for Flint” goal is to deliver over 1200 gallons of clean water to this area, and
HOSA was determined to get the word out the high school so we could all come together to
achieve this goalObserving the HOSA club at St.
James high school during the 2015-16
school year reviled how many students
are dedicated to the future of medicine
and professionalism. In the start,
students are able to find a competition
that suits them. The students who
participate are able to excel, and share
a life changing experience with member
of the group who support and help one
another. The group is ran by two very
passionate advisers Maryam Fischer (an
athletic trainer) and Michael Chapman
(and EMT), and without their hard work
and dedication to the students involved,
HOSA would not be the same
