The following information has been gathered thanks to the collaboration of the members of the
Maldonado (Family House) International Network or Maldonado Global Connection Project 2013-).
The intention of this document is to outline the origin of the family house and provide brief
references of its history. In particular that of Hernan de Aldana, who changed his name to
Maldonado.
The researcher asks few questions about the decisions made by Hernan.
As well suggests three new coats of arms for a modern Maldonado Family House with a global
identity

The Five Lilien

The House-seed Maldonado started its history with Hernan Maldonado, from Spain. The story of the
name origen is presented here in teh same way is shared by the house members. The values and
inheritance of this house have a longer history. The original last name of Hernan Maldonado was
Aldana. The House Aldana belong to the lineage of King Suero of Spain, who was the son of Theodor,
King of the Ostrogots from Italy. Theodor the great was a son of the lineage of the King Filimer, and
five generation before him, and the King Berig, who came to Europe in 238 bc. from Scandinavia.

There is also a reason why we have a blue background. There are normally in the family houses more
than two orders or family traditions, associated to the background colors. That part of the history is
not easy to track back in time: a red, another blue. But according to my experience and information
there is also dark blue, and black and other colors.

Scandazza & the King Berig House

!
Gothiscandza was according to the 6th century Goth scholar Jordanes, the first settlement of the
Goths after their migration from Scandinavia (Scandza).

!
Jordanes relates that the Goths were led from Scandza by their king Berig. As soon as they had set
foot in the land, they named the area Gothiscandza. They soon moved to the settlements of the
Rugians (Ulmerugi, a Germanic tribe which had arrived in the area before the Goths), who lived on
the coast, and they chased them away. Then they defeated their new neighbours, the Vandals.

After some time, when at least four generations of kings had passed after Berig, and Filimer was the
king of the Goths, their numbers had multiplied. Filimer decided that everyone was to leave
Gothiscandza and move to a new region named Oium (Scythia).

!
Teodorico el Grande se autoproclam rey de Italia (494), fijando su residencia en Ravena, y en 497
fue reconocido como "Rex Italiam" por Anastasio I, emperador de Oriente, a quien deba una terica
sumisin. Al convertirse en regente del reino visigodo de Tolosa, el poder de este rey "brbaro" se
extendi sobre gran parte de Galia e Hispania, logrando ser el ms conocido de los monarcas
ostrogodos y pasando a la Historia como Teodorico el Grande.

The House Aldana

!
The House Aldana have its origens in Spain. Its story started with the King Suero, son of Theodor the
Great, who was King of the Ostrogots from Italy. The lineage of Theodor the great comes from the
house of The King Berig, who came to Europe from Skandinavia in 238 bc.
!
El origen de este apellido hasta el Rey Teodorico, que gobern Espaa por los aos 507, el que tuvo un
hijo llamado Suero, que fund la casa de Aldana, cercana a Santiago de Compostela. Se trata, pues de
un linaje de procedencia gallega.
!
Otra leyenda hace tronco de este apellido al Rey Ariamiro o Artamiro, VIII monarca de los suevos en
Galicia, en el ao 517; lo cierto es que, en un principio, estuvo unido el linaje Aldana al de Arias,
formando el muy noble de Arias de Aldana, y que D. Hernn Prez de Aldana, Seor de Aldana y otros
estados, fund el apellido de Maldonado en el reinado de D. Alfonso VIII.

El linaje de Aldana, muchos de cuyos miembros llevaron el ttulo de Conde y ocuparon puestos
preeminentes en las cortes de Len y de Castilla, pas desde Galicia a Castilla, Vizcaya, Catalua,
Valencia, Murcia, Extremadura y otras regiones de Espaa, segn fue avanzando la Reconquista. Mosn
Jaime Febrer hace mencin de los caballeros del apellido Aldana que adquirieron gran celebridad en la
conquista de Valencia, mencionando en especial a don Alonso de Aldana, a quien el rey don Jaime I, le
regal una espada como premio a sus proezas.

ARMAS Las armas del apellido estan documentadas en la mayora de los libros de herldica y se
corresponden a la casa ms antigua del apellido: En campo dse gules, cinco flores de lis de oro,
puestas en sotuer. Las de los Aldana de Galicia eran: En campo de oro, dos lobos de prpura. Los de
Len y Vitoria traen: En campo de oro, un rbol de sinople, y dos lobos, pasantes, al pie del tronco;
bordura de gules, con ocho sotueres de oro. Los de Vizcaya traen: En campo de azur, un cisne blanco
sobre ondas de agua de azur y plata. Los de la anteiglesia de Murueta, en Bilbao, traen: En campo de
gules, una cadena de oro; cortada de oro, con dos vacas andantes, de gules, con collares de oro y
azur, puestas en palo; medio partido de oro, con tres fajas de azur. Los de Valencia y Catalua traen la
concedidas por Carlos I al caballero D. Juan Aldana: En campo de gules, tres coronas de oro, bien
ordenadas, y una desnuda, con la punta hacia arriba, atravesando la corona central, y el collar del
Toisn de Oro por orla.

Personajes destacados en la history

El apellido se ha distinguido en todas las actividades de ser humano: Bellas Artes, Medicina, Literatura,
Qumica, Fsica, Religin y en la Milicia. En este caso hay que destacar a los personajes siguientes: -
Francisco de Aldana: Poeta y militar espaol. Su produccin se compone de poemas blicos, religiosos
y amorosos de tipo italianizante. -Joan Aldana: Militar al servicio de Ferran II de Catalua-Aragn y de
Carlos V, en las campaas italianas. Naci en Tortosa en el siglo XV. TOPONIMIA Aunque los topnimos
del apellido son poco frecuentes, en la Pennsula, podemos nombrar el lugar de Aldanas, en Amorebieta
(Vizcaya).

EL APELLIDO HOY Al tratarse de un apellido de uso bastante generalizado en Espaa, no cabe extraar
que pasara profusamente a Amrica, donde varias casas se establecieron en Chile, Argentina, Colombia
y Mjico.

Poema Compartido por Daniel Maldonado Torres:

El duque de rivas nos cuenta en su leyenda maldonado, el origen de este Apellido. El asunto lo
encontr en un antiguo nobiliario de aragn, el abogado sevillano don juan jos bueno.
Comienza el poema con un romance endecaslabo, en que da cuenta de la tempestad que sorprendi a
las galeras de aragn de regreso a barcelona, despus de haber derrotado a los sarracenos de becerta.
En el horror de la borrasca, prez de aldana, el almirante, que vena herido en su lecho, hace voto a
mara santsima de ir, si le salva, a su santuario de montserrat (francia); y ofrecerle las banderas
arrebatadas al infiel y los despojos de la victoria.
He aqu ya el carcter de la leyenda: aunque no fuese rigurosamente cierto este hecho concreto,
histrico es que los guerreros espaoles contra el moro solan hacer semejantes votos, y que iban a
colocar sus banderas junto al camarn de veneradas imgenes de maria. en el cuadro segundo,
despus de describir el templo de montserrat y la concurrencia de peregrinos, cuenta la llegada de
aldana, enfermo en una camilla, y el encuentro con el duque de normanda.

anuncian la entrada de los dos contendientes con sus respectivos deslumbradores squitos de
escuderos y vasallos; se despeja el palenque, y he aqu la descripcin del combate:

Ijares, ruda espuela despedaza.

QUESTION: why Aldana changed his name into "Maldonado"
!
When you read the story of our family name (i posted it here too). Well the king of france, unhappily,
decided to give 5 lilien to Hernan de Aldana, after requesting to him several times to receive mone,,
land and honor titles, in exchange for "his honor", instead of (according to the laws of honor at that
time) kill the relative of the king of france that steped on him while he was sick, resting on the
monastery). Well, Aldana recovered and promised himself to fight for his honor visiting the court of the
King of France. When the relative of the King of france was almost death, the King of France offered
again to Aldana everything, but "please dont kill him, his death will be gods will". Aldana accepted at
this time, and requested for 5 Lilien, while the shield of arms of the King of France have only 3. BUT
the story doesnt stay there, Aldana did something unique, in addition, which was to change his last
name "aldana" for "maldonado", which means " the lilien given without enjoyment".

QUESTION: why Aldana changed his name into "Maldonado", what wanted he to achieve with that
change?

The house origens refers not only to DNA and MEM (cultural, costumes, subconsciouss collective
consciousness of a family).

Do exist also a collective family inheritance or culture and costumes, an a spirtual inheritance that a
house bring and develop?

Where does our worldy inheritance come from? can we understand what 9 generations ago influenced
our familiy house? can we influence our familiy house 9 generations in the future?
!
My familiy rooths, comes from china, italy, spain, skandinavia. My cultural rooths received strong
influence from israel, japan, german speaking cultures (switzerland, austria and germany) and
southamerica.
!
What can i learn regards my family rooths, what is history, where do i find the keys to start my travels?
!
With this questions i started many yars ago a search for my rooths, while abroad traveling and while
disovering the family and spirtual inheritance i have, i discovered also the world i do live and became a
global citizen.
!
Then, when i realized the hidden value of the 5 Lilien, i knew was time to upgrade to 9 golden lilien,
why? there si a relationship between the 5 and the 9.
!
Why i came to the idea of 9 golden lilien )
!
I use to share the 5 shields, the orinal one of two purpple wolves, the one of 5 golden lilien, the one of
9 golden lilien and finally that one where the Celtic inheritance is suggested.

Maldonado are travelers

Luis Daniel Maldonado Fonken did change again the symbole of the house for a blue field with 9 golden
lilien, and a Blue Star Flower in the middle of it, carried by Two Golden Silver Purple Blue Wolves.

Why did such a new shield?

In principles i have been researching on our relationship with Celtic culture, and we really have one. I
went beyond the Celts, and founds other influences and roots related to our family origen.
The Blue star at the bottom line has also 9 points, or flowers, Which is a 3 D version of our Shield.
Two original purple guradians of life and family, the Wolves, showing our inheritance into that breed!
and an axis, like vortex, which shows the essential principles our family in the past have been related
with, in alignment with.

The origin of the family house Maldonado is the the nordic region of eurasia.
The odic star is an ancient culture generation engine that holds principles of all cultures of Eurasia,
according to a Theory and research results by Luis Daniel Maldonado Fonken
In this coat of arms, the nordic star is combined with 9 flowers, the purple wolves and tree of life, as
well as the vortex and two colors red and blue of the most known orders of the family house.
the number 9=theta representing the 9 fields of the nordic star, the 9 families.
A coat of arms represents the essence of the traits and original force of the family house.
In the mythical tradition of Odin, the wolves were his fellow companions, the tree of life the map to
the 9 divine worlds, the vortex the essential principle behind any cosmological event. Theta means
