Both city life and country life have some advantages and disadvantages. People are

living in either cities or villages for their different purposes of life. People in cities are having

modern facilities but villages are places blessed with natural beauty. I strongly believe that

city life is better than country life because city life is full of modern facilities such as

transport facilities, health facilities, job facilities and many other things.

First of all, cities have better transport facilities than villages. In cities, bus and many

other vehicles are available to go from one place to another place. But vehicles are not

available in villages. Roads in cities are better than village roads. So we can save our valuable

time while we go from one place to another place in cities.

Secondly, There are so many health care centers available in cities. Beside many

public hospitals, private clinics or hospitals are found everywhere in cities. For example,

Dhaka medical college and hospital is one of the most important hospitals in our country.

Because of the modern facilities, most of the doctors prefer to stay in cities. But doctors are

not available in villages. As city people are having these facilities, there is nothing to worry

about their health.

Thirdly, a lot of educational institutions are found in cities. Schools, colleges and

universities are situated almost everywhere in cities. Teachers here are more qualified.

Institutions are maintained with strict rules and regulations here. People are having better

opportunity to complete their higher education as there are many universities in cities. For

example, Dhaka university, Jahangirnagar university, Jagannath university, BRAC university,

North south university are the most prominent universities of Dhaka city as well as of our

country. In fact these universities are also famous all over the world.

Next reason is that in cities people can easily find jobs for themselves. People are

getting government providing jobs in various fields. Beside these, there are a lot of industries,

private organizations in cities which are providing jobs for both educated and uneducated

persons. Actually they are providing jobs for average people with higher salary. But village

people are suffering a lot with unemployment problem. As a result we see that many people

are coming to cities with the hope of earning money. Additionally people are getting better

opportunities to run their private business with low investment like running a grocery shop or

opening a tea stall in the city they live.

Besides, communication system in cities are far more better than the communication

system of villages. Sometimes we may face mobile phone network problem in villages while

it is available everywhere in cities. Villages contain a limited number of people and for that

reason mobile phone operator companies have less consideration over doing their business in

villages. Moreover, internet facilities are not satisfactory in villages. Mobile phone operator

companies like Grameenphone, Robi, Airtel, Teletalk, Citycell are providing internet with a

lower speed in villages. Broadband internet facilities are not found in villages. But in cities

this facility is available with higher speed. Again some companies like Qubee and Banglalion

are providing high speed internet services. As a result city people are not facing huge

problems regarding mobile phone network or internet facilities.

Even though city life is full of modern facilities, some people have different opinions

regarding this. They have a little interest about city life and prefer to live country life. They

usually say that villages have pollution free environment and places are full of natural beauty.

On the other hand city life is full of pollution and lack fresh air to take breath easily.

Environment pollution is everywhere in cities. Fresh and formalin free vegetables and fruits

are rarely found in cities. Moreover, people in cities are busy with their own life. They are not

known to each other even if they live in the same building. In the meantime, people in

villages are more friendly to each other. If anyone is in danger people around him come

forward to help him. Again some people say that the cost of accommodations is considerably

higher in cities. City life is also full of traffic jam which make the life of city people

disgusting. But things are not all the same as some people think. There are lots of places in

cities like parks, sishu park, cinema halls for the refreshment of city people. People can go

wherever they want to go for their amusement even with their family. For example, in Dhaka

city we have Jiya uddan, Shishu park, Ramna park where people are getting opportunities to

meet and gossip with their known people. City corporations are very much aware of keeping

the environment neat and clean. They are taking necessary steps to solve the problems of city

people. For this reason, problems like traffic jam, gas and water problem are becoming less

day by day. As many people are living in cities, fresh vegetables and fruits are brought to

cities. City people can buy their daily needs easily. Thus they can lead a better life. It is true

that village people are more friendly to each other but it does not mean that city people have

no relation to each other. People in cities are connected to each other in various ways. All of

them have different needs and responsibilities. So they have to think about other people. As a

result they have to be known to each other. They are running different organizations which

develops their relationship with each other.

In conclusion, we can say that cities are better living places than villages. Though

city life is full of modern facilities, there are some disadvantages too. But we cannot ignore

the benefits of city life. It can be better if government take necessary and effective steps to

solve the problems of city life. Finally we can lead a happy city life and dream for better

future.
