1. INTRODUCTION:
What is plastic: A synthetic material made from a wide range of organic polymers
such as polyethylene, PVC, nylon, etc., that can be molded into shape while soft, and
then set into a rigid or slightly elastic form. Plastic use in increasing day by day which
produce a large amounts of waste become the hazard of our lives such as polythene bags.
Plastic bags are used for transporting goods. Polythene is the most common plastic the
annual production is around 80 million tones.

2. LITERATURE REVIEW:
For many years, researchers and development chemists have experimented with modified
bitumen mainly for industrial uses, adding asbestos, special filler, mineral fibers and
rubber. In the last thirty years many researchers have looked at a wide spectrum of
modifying materials for bitumens used in road construction.
Justo (2002) studied the possibility of using finely waste plastic aggregate mix with
natural aggregate replacement in road. The results showed a very significant compressive
strength improvement with the increase of percentage replacement of plastic aggregate
with natural aggregate. A higher compressive strength was obtained with a lower
expansion verified by the bar tests. The results of previous studies showed that use of
waste plastic in asphalt mixture improved the engineering properties such as Marshall
Stability, resistant to water, binding property for the bitumen mix and increase in the road
life (Khan, 2013). Several studies have been conducted to investigate the use of plastic
waste in bitumen mixture of the flexible pavement. (Shiva, 2012).
Study was done by (Bandopandhyay, 2010) using 80/100 penetration grade bitumen and
Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (copolymer). The study shows that there was an increase in
stability value in case of polymer modified bitumen. Stability value was high as 14kN in
case of polymer modified bitumen. Tensile strength was also increased and stripping
properties were improved.

3. PROBLEM STATEMENT :
Since the garbage collection system is not well managed in Peshawar, people dispose the
garbage wherever possible mostly in the drainages or the river banks. This has led to
huge environmental pollution deteriorating the health of mankind and the other living
beings and destroying our agriculture land because of wastes Plastic our agriculture land
become covered with wastes. Due to the lack of Knowledge of disposing the wastages,
people trash the garbage in a way they want. We can see garbage all around the whole
city including in the roads, play Grounds, parks and even in hospitals. People throw the
garbage without realizing that it is affecting their own health and will deteriorate the
future generations living standard.

4. AIMS AND OBJECTIVE :

The aim of this project is to minimize the wastes and prepaid such a sample of Plastic
wastes and bitumen which is not economic and gave better results. The Road made up of
plastic mix bitumen is good to weather and much stronger to get the maximum load.
Since the road network is used so extensively in our Country, therefore we need road
network which is: Long Lasting, Durable, strong, and reliable

5. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY :
In this project we are using polythene plastic Waste as a binder in bitumen's we will mix
the high density and low density polythene with bitumens in the following proportion
3%, 5% and 10% respectively and will check for the Following tests.
Softening point
Ductility
Flash and fire
Penetration test.

SOFTENING POINT TEST :

This test is done to determine the softening point of asphaltic bitumen and road
Tar, coal tar pitch and blown type bitumen as per. IS 1205 1978.

DUCTILITY TEST FOR BITUMEN :

This test is done to determine the ductility of distillation residue of cutback
Bitumen, blown type bitumen and other bituminous products. The ductility of a
bituminous material is measured by the distance in cm to which it will elongate
Before breaking when a standard briquette specimen of the material is pulled
Apart at a specified speed and a specified temperature.
FLASH AND FIRE POINT TEST :
This test is done to determine the flash point and the fire point of asphaltic
Bitumen and fluxed native asphalt, cutback bitumen and blown type Bitumen. The flash
point of a material is the lowest temperature at which the application of test flame causes
the vapors from the material to momentarily catch fire in the form of a flash under
specified conditions of the test. Fire Point The fire point is the lowest temperature at
which the application of test Flame causes the material to ignite and burn at least for 5
seconds under specified conditions of the test.

PENETRATION TEST :
In this test we examine the consistency of a sample of bitumen by determining the
distance in tenths of a millimeter that a standard needle vertically penetrates the bitumen
specimen under known conditions of loading, time and temperature.

6. SCOPE OF STUDY :
Plastic will be properly recycled and treated then it can be used as aggregate replacement
in road construction. Thus we can reduce the harmful effects produced due to the plastic
wastes and can also reduce the pollution load. One of the ways to reduce this problem is
to utilize plastic waste materials in the production of asphalt. Use of these materials not
only helps in getting them utilized in aggregate, asphalt and other construction materials
it will reduce the cost of asphalt manufacturing.
