Scope 1.1 This specification covers eirsight sesm, double- submerged-arc-welded steel pipe (Note I) suitable for high- Pressure service, 16 in. (406 mm) and larger in outside diameter, with wall thicknesses from is to 1'4 in. (7.9 to 38 vm). The pipe is intended for fabsioation of fittings and scessories for compressor or pump-station piping. Pipe or- Gered to this specification stall be suitable for bending, flanging (vastoning), comugating, and similar operations. Note I—A comprehensive listing of standardized pipe dimensions is contained in ANSI 536.10, Nore 2—The tem "dovble welded” is commonly used inthe gas and oil transmission industry, for which tie pipe is primarily intended, 1 indicate welding with 2 lear wo weld passes, of which one ie on tho uisiée of the pipe and one on the ins, For some sizes of the ipe covered by this specification, it Becernes expedient to use namsal welding, in which ease the provisiogs of Nee 3 shull be flowed. 1.2 Nine classes of pipe, bssed on minimum yield point requirements, are covered as indicated in Table 1, 1.3 The values stzted in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the stuundard. The metric equivalents of inch-pound units may be approximate, 14 The following hazard caveat applies to the test methods portion, Sections 9 and 10, only.
