My beliefs on Education

Each teacher has his own educational philosophy as it serves as a guide on the teaching
career. Through my teaching experiences and my knowledge about different educational
philosophies and pedagogical theories, I have developed a personal teaching philosophy that
will be implemented into my future classrooms.

When I did the Educational Philosophy self-assessment, the highest score indicated that
Humanism is the most psychological orientation and educational philosophy that I believe in.
I strongly believe that learners can control their own learning and destiny. They must be
responsible for their own learning and their behaviour is based on their own choices. Learners
are potentially seeking for growth and improvement particularly if the encouraging learning
environments are provided for them.

As a teacher, I also believe that each student can construct his or her experiences and
knowledge and add them to their existing knowledge and schemata. Through discussions,
collaborative activities, and authentic tasks, students develop high order thinking skills such
as problem solving and critical thinking skills. I am convinced that schools have a key role in
developing and reforming the society. This will definitely happen if students are learning in a
social learning environments and through the negotiation of the learning gaols and objectives.

I usually try to use learner-centered teaching style in my classes. I am totally convinced that
this teaching approach shifts the role of the teachers from givers of information to facilitators
of students learning. I also believe that students need to be encouraged and motivated. This
surely creates emotionally and socially safe learning environment. Teachers are considered
ideal models or examples for their students. The relationship between teachers and students
should be strong in order that teachers can help students solve their problems not only those
related to study, but also regarding their social and personal problems.

I think every educated person will have no option but to possess the ability to utilize the
internet because it is widely used all over the globe. Therefore, students should use
technology throughout their academic journey. I definitely believe that using technology
helps me as a teacher to deliver the curriculum effectively while it fosters the learners
attention and perception. From my own experience, I have noticed that using technology, as a
tool in teaching and learning processes, has positive impacts on the students' motivation and
engagement. It accelerates their level of understanding of the topics. It does not only add
some fun, but also it delivers the information with less efforts and time.
