BCS Certificate in Computer Science Teaching: Part 1

Professional development log

Starting point: Please describe your subject and pedagogical knowledge prior to logging this evidence (max 150 words)
I teach educational studies that related to the method and practice of teaching, especially as an academic subject or
theoretical concept. I also teach culture & learning, and teacher & currents challenges courses. I used several strategies and
techniques during my teaching process including case method, active learning, cooperative learning, group discussion and
integrating technology. My campus is well-equipped with multimedia facilities and IT infrastructure. These facilities made my
teaching and learning process more interactive.

Final statement (Please summarise what you have gained from completing this CPD (max 150 words)

I like the idea of learning about some of the computer science concepts, the problem solving approach and the emphasis on
play and fun. My first reaction was that it involved solving problems, math problems, a way of viewing how numbers effected
and affected our lives. My view now is that computational thinking is evolving into a broader environment. Computational
thinking is a more open ended creative way of working through a problem. It is a way of puting something in a process and
getting something else out and thinking through the steps of getting the idea from one place to another.
