Essay Proposal

1. Topic The use of videos in higher education courses online

2. Theme and argument:


a. The argument or thesis There is a strong case for the inclusion of instructor-
created introductory videos and video lectures in a higher education course taught
online to increase student satisfaction and learning.
b. The background The prevalence of higher education courses offered online
has led to discussion over effective design of such courses by instructors, using
educational technology.

3. Primary and Secondary sources for insight into the topic:


a. Issues to be addressed - the history of online videos, how an instructor can
effectively teach a higher education course online, how videos for such a course
should be designed, and phenomenological aspects of their use.
