To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is in recommendation of Andrew Meesseman, an exceptional person whom I have

known for the past year. While a student at Sterling Heights High School, Andrew has proven
himself to be an exceptional student and admirable leader through his work habits, determination
for success, and participation in extra-curricular activities.

In my Advanced Placement English Language and Composition class, Andrew maintained a solid
focus on learning and applying the material discussed in class, always displaying a desire to
succeed, a goal he certainly achieved thanks to his participation in class discussions, his test
preparation, and his insightful questions. Andrews participation showed both his knowledge of
the subject at hand and his willingness to take risks for the sake of learning and improving his
skills. In addition to my AP English course, Andrew has attended the Macomb Mathematics
Science Technology Center (MMSTC), a competitive magnet program for students who excel in
those areas. His acceptance to such a selective school reveals his talents and his ability to
maintain a rigorous schedule.

Because of his high personal standards and desire for success, Mr. Meesseman pushed himself
beyond classroom expectations, going above and beyond the required tasks all while maintaining a
pleasant demeanor. He worked hard last year to perfect his writing skills, which were already
quite advanced. I was always impressed with his willingness to try new techniques, his attention
to detail, and his application of advanced writing skills. His impressive efforts throughout the year
helped him earn a three on the national AP English Language and Composition exam, as well as a
three on both the AP Statistics exam and the AP Psychology exam. Now in his senior year, a time
when many students tend to slack off, Andrew continues to push himself by taking AP English
Literature and Composition, AP US History, AP Biology, and AP Calculus.

What is perhaps most impressive is that Andrew has maintained high academic standards while
participating in several ice hockey programs which have required him to travel extensively. He
also finds time to volunteer as a tutor, sharing his abilities with students who need a bit of extra
help. Mr. Meesseman is a dedicated, selfless individual who enjoys working with and helping
others; he is a well-rounded young man who can effectively manage his time to ensure rigorous
academic and extracurricular schedules. I am confident that his intellect, his diligence, and his
generous spirit will grant him many successes in his future.

In the time that I have known Andrew, I have always found him to be pleasant, caring, and
mature. He welcomes challenges, accepts responsibility, and continually strives for success.
Andrew Meesseman comes with my highest recommendation.
