Lesson: Interactive quiz on ecosystems

Unit Overview
Main Idea (Claim) Summative Assessment
Quiz
Producers, consumers, and decomposers
(Students will learn how energy flow ties
together the organisms in an ecosystem.)

Guiding Questions Objectives (know/understand/do/value)

What is ecosystem? The student will
What is biotic and abiotic? Understand the meaning of ecosystem
What is producers? Do group discussion and
What is photosynthesis? Identify biotic and abiotic (living and
What is consumers? nonliving part of ecosystem)
What is decomposers? Know producers, consumers, and
Where do plants and animals get their decomposers
energy?
Time Instructional Procedures and Strategies
1-2 Beginning the Lesson
Minutes Teacher will greet the students
Teacher will ask one student to pray for the class
Teacher will tell the objectives that we will have interactive quiz

Developing the Lesson

18 Teacher will ask students what is ecosystem? Teacher will have students speak.
Minutes Teacher will explain, ecosystem is a system where all living things or organism
interact within their environment.
Teacher will ask students to explain their initial knowledge about biotic and
abiotic factor. Students will think and answer
Teacher will say good job to the students
Teacher will explain biotic means relating to living things in an environment
Teacher will explain abiotic means opposite of biotic, non-living things in an
ecosystem.
Teacher will ask students to name five biotic and five non-biotic factors. And then
Teacher will show the picture of living things and nonliving things and ask
students to identify whether it is biotic or abiotic factor
Teacher will ask the students to discuss in the group that what is the relation
between living things and nonliving things
The students answer may vary Sunlight, air, temperature, wind, tsunami, and
any natural disaster can affect biotic factor or living organism.

Grade six/Science

Teacher will show the picture of a plant and ask students to identify biotic or
abiotic (living organism or nonliving)
- Teacher will say it is living things
Teacher will ask what is plant? After students speak, teacher will say plants are
producer.
Teacher will ask why plants are producer?
- Plants are producers because they can make their own food from sunlight.
Green plants use energy from sunlight to make food.
Teacher will ask what is photosynthesis?
- The process by which plants use sunlight to make their own food is called
photosynthesis.
Teacher will ask what is consumers?
- All animals in a food chain are consumers because they eat plants or other
animals. There are different levels of consumers in most food chains, with
smaller consumers eating and then being eaten themselves by larger
consumers.
Teacher will ask, do consumer produce their own food?
- No
Teacher will ask why all food chain starts with producer?
- Because consumer cannot make their own food.
Teacher will ask why all food chain ends with top predator? Or top consumer?
- Because there is no one that can kill top consumer
Teacher will ask what is decomposers?
- Bactria and fungi who breaks down dead organism.
Teacher will ask again what is ecosystem?
Teacher will ask again where do plants and animals get their energy?
- Through the process of photosynthesis, plants harness the sun's energy and in
so doing make many forms of lifeincluding human lifepossible.
Closing the Lesson
Teacher will handout the quiz to the students and once they done their quiz,
10 teacher will collect the quiz.
Minutes Teacher will show that quiz question on through the projector and teacher will ask
students to answer.
