Unit/Topic: Application of Technology
Project Overview Description and link to student engagement (rationale):
Through this video project I want to take advantage of the one-on-one time I have with my
student and foster her excitement and knowledge of technology. The video project will be based
off of a paper that was previously written for her Language Arts class. She wrote about going
back in time and interacting with the dinosaurs and she wants to recreate her story using
technology.
My plan is to have her take control of the process, especially when it comes time to edit the
video. By doing this, it is my hope that I will engage her entrepreneurial spirit and grow her
technological and digital fluency. My student has told me that she learns best through working
with her hands and problem solving using little aid, so having her physically doing the editing
herself will be an effective way of helping her learn and grow.
That being said, this is not an individual project and we will need to work together to create our
presentation. Engaging her as a thinker is the key to success for this assignment. This is why I
wanted her to choose something that interests her as the topic for the video. By using her own
work as the basis for the video, will make her more eager to collaborate and take a leadership
role.
