 PARTICIPATION IN CHARGEV AS CHARGING STATION PREMISE PROVIDER
WHO WE ARE
Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia) is an organization under the
purview of the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA). GreenTech
Malaysias purpose is to catalyse green technology development as Malaysias strategic
engine for socio-economic growth.
GreenTech Malaysia is currently implementing strategic actions outlined in the national Electric
Mobility Blueprint, which focuses on three main areas to develop an EV industry in Malaysia,
namely EVs for public transport and private ownership, EV ecosystem and EV economy. The
Electric Mobility Blueprint aims to fast-track Malaysias transformation into a global Electric
Mobility marketplace, with 100,000 EV cars, 125,000 publicly accessible EV charging stations,
2,000 EV buses and 100,000 electric scooters and motorcycles on Malaysian roads by 2030.
WHAT IS IT AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
GreenTech Malaysias target for 2016 is to install 300 EV charging stations across Malaysia,
primarily within the Klang Valley. GreenTech Malaysia has developed ChargEV network; a
uniform, corporate identity for EV charging station in Malaysia. As the current distribution of EV
charging station is limited, it is important to populate more EV chargers across prime locations
(shopping malls, hotels, golf clubs, fast food chain restaurants, etc.).
As of October 2016, there are about 140 registered EV in Malaysia, with 103 ChargEV stations.
GreenTech Malaysia aims to grow the number of EVs in Malaysia in accordance to the target
set in the Electric Mobility Blueprint. The Malaysian market currently consists the following EV
models Tesla Model S, BMW X5 xDrive40e, Nissan Leaf, etc.
WHAT DOES CHARGEV WANT TO ACHIEVE?
A comprehensive, integrated EV infrastructure is important to support the growth of EVs in
Malaysia. Generally, EV owners are supplied with home or private charging equipment when
purchasing vehicles. These systems are compatible with household electricity outlets and
provide slow / overnight-charging. However, public-access charging facilities are important to
increase consumer confidence and support an EV lifestyle.
Premise owners benefit from the installation of ChargEV network, which includes:
Be part of the national agenda and support green initiatives;
Retain and attract new customers who require EV charging facilities;
Increase visibility and heighten their sustainability profile.
WHAT WE OFFER?
During this first phase, the ChargEV Package will be offered to interested premise owners free-
of-charge. As such, all cost involving the ChargEV system and its installation estimated to be in
the range of between RM10,000 and RM25,000 will be borne by GreenTech Malaysia.
Additionally, the ChargEV package will also include the following:
Electrical works inclusive of up to 20 meter of cabling to the closest distribution
box;
ChargEV signage, light box and floor marking;
Technical advice and maintenance support for the charging stations;
Training on use and operation of the charging station; and
Site promotion through ChargEV website, social media and public engagement
activities.
All ChargEV installation is covered with public and product liability insurance. This includes
charger unit, wall stickers, light box and flooring. Copy of the insurance policy will be provided
upon request.
WHAT WE NEED?
The type of ChargEV to be installed shall be determined upon inspection of proposed location
for power supply facilities and other considerations. There are three different types of
ChargEVs available, details of which are as follows:

* Operation cost is calculated based on an electricity tariff of 43 sen/kWh with charging station
utilisation rate of 3 hours a day.
Premise owners are required to play their part on the following:
Location
Provision of rent-free space;
Sheltered, high visibility and public accessible parking lot(s);
Display of ChargEV signage and collateral, including light box and floor marking.
Electrical
Absorb any cost for upgrading works by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB);
Carry the cost for electrical cabling works in excess of 20m;
Accept and settle all electricity cost related to ChargEV.
Administration
Approval for site inspection accompanied by assigned building management
personnel;
Work permit to carry out installation works, including electrical and signage
works;
Adequate security and cleanliness of the charging station.
A typical installation takes between 5 and 7 days; however, this may vary depending on the
complexity of the installation. To avoid damage to the ChargEV station, premise owners are
required to ensure the following situations are avoided:
Cleaning with high pressured water;
Repair, modification, alternation or disassembly of the ChargEV station without
prior notification and approval of ChargEV; and
Usage beyond the products general or intended use.
Should there be any issues or problems with the ChargEV stations, the premise owner can
contact GreenTech Malaysia. Support shall be provided based on location of the ChargEV
station:
Klang Valley : within 1 - 2 working days
Peninsular Malaysia : within 2 - 5 working days
East Malaysia : within 3 - 7 working days
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR CHARGEV INSTALLATION
1. Premise owner that are interested to have ChargEV station should ensure that the basic
requirements (as stated in What We Need? section) are met prior to submitting this
Acceptance Form. Premise owner shall provide space, free-of-charge, for the installation
of ChargEV station and to bear monthly electricity cost of ChargEV station.
2. GreenTech shall provide free-of-charge the ChargEV package which includes the
following:
Electrical works inclusive of up to 20 meter of cabling to the closest distribution box;
ChargEV signage, light box and floor marking;
Technical advice and maintenance support for the charging stations;
Training on use and operation of the charging station; and
Site promotion through ChargEV website, social media and public engagement
activities.
2.1 Provide free-of-charge regular maintenance and repair of the ChargEV station;
2.2 Obtain all necessary regulatory approvals for the installation and operation of
ChargEV station;
2.3 Ensure safety and compliance with all regulatory and other requirements of
ChargEV station;
2.4 Maintain adequate insurance to cover any liability that may be incurred or
suffered by the premise owner relating to ChargEV station;
2.5 Indemnify and keep indemnified at all times during the Term and any extension
thereof, the premise owner from all liability relating to the installation and
operation of ChargEV station.
3. GreenTech Malaysia shall be entitled to terminate this Acceptance Form at any time and
from time to time if the premise owner shall fail, refuse and to neglect to comply with any
of the requirements, terms and conditions contained herein on the part of the premise
owner. Premise owner shall be entitled to terminate this Acceptance Form at any time
and from time to time if GreenTech Malaysia shall fail, refuse and to neglect to comply
with any of the requirements, terms and conditions contained herein on the part of the
premise GreenTech Malaysia.
4. Premise owners that receives ChargEV station must retain it for at least two (2) years
from the date of complete installation and can withdraw from this project after two (2)
years by giving one (1) month written notice. Upon termination, GreenTech Malaysia will
retrieve the ChargEV equipment and shall not bound to revert the site back to its original
condition.
5. Premise owners with ChargEV station can use ChargEV brand in promoting and
encouraging visitors to their premise. However, the use of ChargEV station/ brand for
advertisement/ profit generation activities are prohibited and written consent from
GreenTech Malaysia is required for such activities.
6. GreenTech Malaysia has the rights to advertise at the ChargEV station, but prior to any
engagement will seek the consent of premise owner. The advertisement must not be
competitive with nor conflict in any way with the current trades at ChargEV installation
location.
7. All materials that are used for the construction of ChargEV station shall remain the
property of GreenTech Malaysia.
8. In the event of closure or relocation of business by the premise owner, GreenTech
Malaysia will retrieve the EV charger. Should the premise owner wish to have ChargEV
reinstalled at their new location/ site, the cost involved will be borne by the premise
owner.
9. This Acceptance Form and the process thereafter shall be governed by and construed in
all respects in accordance with Malaysian law.
10. This Acceptance Form is may not be transferred or assigned without obtaining prior
written consent of GreenTech Malaysia.
