PREPARING THE LECTURE / PRESENTATION - Adapted by Prof.

Léo Doncatto As most of

the classes is given in Powerpoint, it is important to highlight a few essentia
l tips. - Keep the short text on each slide: Put a few threads on the subject, b
ut not a complete text that needs to be read. The point of the presentation is w
hat you have to say, not what is written on the screen. The Powerpoint is a back
up of your class. - Never use animations! Very, very little use if it is necessa
ry to understand the context! - Not a bad idea this rule: a maximum of six words
per line, maximum of 6 lines per slide - Dark background with light letters. Th
e best combination is navy blue background and white letters. The second best is
black with yellow letters. Never use red letters, which are difficult to visual
ize. - Preferably use Arial or Helvetica fonts (Times New Roman may be interesti
ng on screen, but a projection is blurred for anyone who is over 6 feet away). U
se font sizes between 20-32. - Never use capital letters only. - In certain pres
entations, enter your e-mail at the bottom of each slide. This is useful in comg
ressos when students can contact you later. - The PowerPoint can display the sli
de numbers in lower right corner. One tip is in the Slide Master, put a "/ xx" i
n this field, where "xx" is the final number of slides that make up your present
ation. Thus, in class, students will see in the corner of the screen "1 / 76" an
d then "2 / 76 and on. Is the idea then of how many slides have your class and h
ow many walks progression. It is important for you as well, which will be locate
d in its best way. - Remember, in PowerPoint, less is more!
POSTURE AND COMPOSITION IN PRESENTATION - arrive early and make sure your presen
tation is ok there - Always talk turned to the public - If any students to speak
spontaneously in class, the better. This highlights just someone interested and
willing to participate. Explore it during the presentation. Ask him his name, h
is opinion over the issues in some cases. Play with him and will be enjoying the
whole room! - Walk in the room where the presentation on some occasions, if pos
sible. - Avoid mannerisms. Type always start a sentence with "Well ...", "HAAA .
..." It is difficult, but police itself and be persistent. TIME FOR SUBMISSION O
F EACH CLASS: 10 MINUTES OF TIME FOR TEACHER COMMENT: TIME 2 MINUTES FOR CLASSRO
OM: 12 MINUTES. START: 8h 15 minutes. End Time: 11h 45 min. Bring the lessons al
ready tested on CD or flash drive,
