3.4 Conditioning
Before testing, the specimens must be conditioned in the ISO 554-23/50 standard atmosphere for
at least 48 h.

3.5 Evaluation of the measurement results

The required numerical values apply to each individual measurement.

3.6 Material
See section 5.1.
Polyamide 66, alternatively polyamide 6 or copolymer of PA6 and PA66 with inorganic fillers con
sisting primarily of aluminum silicate or calcium silicate.
Added glass fiber and/or modifiers to increase impact strength are permissible.

5 Notes on testing

5.1 Material
The polymer identity is tested by infrared spectroscopy, the filler identity by X-ray fluorescence
analysis.

5.2 Specimens
For painted finished parts, the paint finish does not need to be removed from the specimen surface
before measuring.

5.3 Ball indentation hardness

For painted finished parts, the paint finish of specimens for the indentation test must be removed
using a surface grinding machine.
The measurement must be performed as per DIN EN ISO 2039-1 after aging the specimens for
48 h at (55 1) C and 100% relative humidity and cooling the specimens to (23 2) C.

5.4 Flexural strength

The flexural stress must be determined at maximum load as per DIN EN ISO 178.
Specimen (sampled in the flow direction of Length (50 1) mm
the injection-molding material): Width (6 0.2) mm
Thickness corresponding to product thickness
(max. 4 mm)
Test speed: 14 mm/min
Distance between supports: 40 mm
Support radius: 1.0 mm to 1.2 mm
The measurement is performed after aging the specimens for 48 h at (55 1) C and 100% relative
humidity and subsequent cooling of the specimens to (23 2) C. Specimens taken from molded
parts with one-sided paint finish and/or grain must be placed on the test machine supports so that
the painted and/or grained side faces the loading edge.

5.5 Impact strength

Impact strength as per DIN EN ISO 179-1/1fU; pendulum impact tester 4 J as per DIN 51222.
Specimen dimensions: 80 mm 15 mm product thickness (mm)
Distance between supports: 62 mm
Depending on component geometry, 50 mm 6 mm product thickness (mm)
specimens of the following sizes may also
be used:
Deviating support separation: 40 mm
The measurement is performed after vacuum aging the specimens for 72 h at (100 2) C and
subsequent cooling of the specimens to (23 2) C in a desiccator. Specimens taken from molded
parts with one-sided paint finish and/or grain must be placed on the support brackets of the pendu
lum impact tester so that the painted and/or grained side faces the hammer edge.

5.6 Notched impact strength

Impact strength test as per DIN EN ISO 179-1/1eA; pendulum impact tester 4 J as per DIN 51222.
Specimen dimensions: 50 mm 6 mm product thickness (mm)
Deviating support separation: 40 mm
Page 5
TL 52288: 2015-02

Specimens taken from molded parts with one-sided paint finish and/or grain must be notched on
the painted and/or grained side. The notch depth is 1/3 of the specimen thickness. The measure
ment is performed after vacuum aging the specimens for 72 h at (100 2) C and subsequent cool
ing of the specimens to (23 2) C in a desiccator.

5.7 Elevated-temperature behavior

Heat aging test as per DIN 53497, method B.
Aging period: 22+2
-0 h

Aging temperature: (130 2) C

5.8 Behavior in humid heat

Aging period: 44+4
-0 h

Aging temperature: (55 1) C

Relative humidity: 95+5
-0 %

The evaluation is conducted visually after cooling the specimens to (23 2) C.

5.9 Low-temperature behavior

Ball drop test as per PV 3905.
Aging period: 44+4
-0 h

Aging temperature: (-30 1) C

Ball drop height: (450 10) mm
Ball impact point: Visible side
