Changes
The following changes have been made to TL 52288: 2005-04:
Standard changed to new layout
Applicable documents updated

1 Scope
This Technical Supply Specification (TL) specifies the materials requirements for mineral-rein
forced polyamide, e.g., for wheel trims.
2 Description
Polyamide, mineral-reinforced as per TL 52288

3.2 Appearance
The surface and interior of the finished parts must be free of flaws and processing defects such as
flow lines, cracks, voids, or similar defects. The surface must be smooth, free of release agent, and
capable of being coated using a state-of-the-art process.
Marking of sink marks especially in the area of rib joints and stiffenings as per the released boun
dary sample.
3.3 Manufacture
Injection molding
3.4 Conditioning
Before testing, the specimens must be conditioned in the ISO 554-23/50 standard atmosphere for
at least 48 h.
3.6 Material
See section 5.1.
Polyamide 66, alternatively polyamide 6 or copolymer of PA6 and PA66 with inorganic fillers con
sisting primarily of aluminum silicate or calcium silicate.
Added glass fiber and/or modifiers to increase impact strength are permissible.
4 Properties
See table 1.

5 Notes on testing
5.1 Material
The polymer identity is tested by infrared spectroscopy, the filler identity by X-ray fluorescence
analysis.

5.2 Specimens
For painted finished parts, the paint finish does not need to be removed from the specimen surface
before measuring.
Specimens taken from molded parts with one-sided paint finish and/or grain must be notched on
the painted and/or grained side. The notch depth is 1/3 of the specimen thickness. The measure
ment is performed after vacuum aging the specimens for 72 h at (100 2) C and subsequent cool
ing of the specimens to (23 2) C in a desiccator.
6 Applicable documents
The following documents cited in this standard are necessary to its application.
Some of the cited documents are translations from the German original. The translations of Ger
man terms in such documents may differ from those used in this standard, resulting in terminologi
cal inconsistency.
Standards whose titles are given in German may be available only in German. Editions in other
languages may be available from the institution issuing the standard.
