Sika GroutPlug -A
Injection Port for Low Pressure Injection System

Product
Description Sika GroutPlug -A is a specially designed resin injection tool for cracks
in concrete as a part of Low Pressure Injection System (LPIS*). LPIS
automatically gives consistent low pressure injection. Sika GroutPlug-
A, as an injection port, enables precise and deep penetration into small
cracks. It is also capable of controlling the pressure and injecting rates.
*LPIS is based on Boyles Law: under conditions of constant temperature
Construction

and quantity, there is an inverse relationship between the volume and

pressure for an ideal gas. The resin inserted into the pressure tank
produces air pressure to extrude resin to cracks/ joints.

Use Part of Low Pressure Injection System,

Injection port for concrete joints and cracks

Advantages Easy viscosity adjustment and refilling of resin.

Scales on pressure tank help control the injection and pressure amount.
(see below table)
Compact and light weighted.
Plug applicator is made of thermoplastic (ABS) and capable of
re-shaping to fit the area of application.

How to Use
Surface Preparation Estimate the length of grouting area using a crack scale or measure to
mark the injection point.
Areas around the crack to be repaired (approximately 50 mm radius)

must be dry, clean, sound and free of any other foreign matter.
Heat a plug applicator with a burner and reshape it to fit the repairing

area.
Apply temporal sealant, Sika GroutPack -1, and press Sika GroutPlug

-A onto the sealant.

Wait until the sealant cures before proceeding to the injection of

repairing resin.
Immediately after the resin from SK pump enters the pressure tank,

entrapped air in pressure tank gets compressed and pushes back the
resin, creating a low pressure/speed injection.

Installation of Plug A Apply temporal sealant, Sika GroutPack -1, along with the crack.
Force Sika GroutPlug -A down to the sealant immediately.

Approximate the thickness of temporal sealant should be 2 5 mm

with 30mm width.

Each plug should be installed approximately 250 mm apart.

Wait for the sealant to cure.

Injection of Epoxy Resin After the curing of the temporal sealant, start inserting epoxy resin at
low viscosity from Sika SK Pump.
Keep the graduation on the pressure tank below 1.5 during injection.

Recommended selection of injecting resin and pump:

Resin Sikadur -52 TH

Pump Sika SK Pump 4

Removal of temporal Make sure the injected epoxy resin is cured.

sealant and plug Remove Sika GroutPlug -A first, then Sika GroutPack -1.

Limitations If In case the resin leaks from unexpected area during injection, push
check valve with a wire to once stop injection and lower pressure in the
tank. After wiping out the ejected resin, seal with tachyon pack.

Application Instruction
Procedure Step-by-step Instructions Additional tips
1. Marking Advantages Sika GroutPlug -A System :
- Repair without cutting in structure: free of dust, dirt, or
noise, suitable for residential area.
- Adjustment of injection is easy by adding resin with various
viscosities.
- Estimate the length of the grouting area using a crack
scale or measure and mark injection points.
Sika GroutPlug -A :
- To determine the width of the crack, measure at least at
Resin Injection Port Sika
2 points and choose the maximum width.
- Do not mark directly over the cracks.

2. Surface Preparation - Approximately 50mm radius surface of the crack to be must

be dry, clean, sound and free of other foreign matter. Clean
with duster or waste cloth.
-When cleaning with wire brush, be careful not to block an
injection point.
-In order to alleviate stain from temporal sealant, pre-coat Sika GroutPack -4: pre-
with Sika GroutPack-4 along with the cracking at this treatment to block out stain
stage. from temporal sealant

3. Installation of Plug - Apply temporal sealant, Sika GroutPack -1, along with
A the crack. Appropriate thickness of temporal sealant is
2-5 mm with 30mim width.
- Force down an injection port, Sika GroutPlug -A to the
temporal sealant immediately.
- Installation of GroutPlug -A should be approx. every 50mm Sika GroutPack -1:
apart. The compatibility
- The temporal sealant must firmly seal Sika GroutPlug - A (adhesion/peel) must be
to the contact surface. tested before use

4. Injection of Epoxy - Allow temporal sealant to sure as per the ecommendations

Resin before resin injection.
- Start injecting low viscosity epoxy resin using Sika SK
Pump.
- For cracks penetrating the wall, calculate the appropriate
Recommended resin,
resin amount prior to the injection. Sikadur -52 TH
- During the injection, pressure in the tank should not
exceed 1.5 on its scale.

5. Removal of temporal - After the injected resin completely cures, remove Sika
sealant and plug GroutPlug -A first.
- Remove the temporal Sealant.
-To check if resin is cured, sample small amount of injected
resin from the crack.
- Be careful not to scratch the concrete surface.
Remove GroutPlug-A
before the sealant:

6. Finish - Check if repairing went successfully
